The spoiler rules only apply to episodes that haven't yet been
re-broadcast in syndication. "Nick Knight" was broadcast in, what, 1989
or 1990? It has been available on pro video for years now. I find it
hard to imagine any reason for putting it under spoiler protection!
Besides, the plot and dialogue were virtually identical to "Dark Knight."
When they re-did the movie as "Dark Knight," they changed some characters,
hired new actors (mostly *vastly* superior actors), and moved it to
Toronto from LA. The coroner became female. And they got better music
(hi, Fred!). The soundtrack for "Nick Knight" is hilarious, though,
since they play just about every 1980s song that has the word "night" in
it! Oh, right, and they painted the Caddy. ;^)
And they added the whole concept of flashbacks. :^) :^)

With some minor editing I got it under four lines, but the point is still
there.
This is why a movie of Our Heroes could, I say _could_, be truly horrid.
Look at the things that they had to change to convert it to television. I
can imagine that many of the same things, and lots of others, will be
changed in ways to horrible to imagine, for a full-blown movie.
Not that I'm against a movie, I wasn't against ST:Generations or the Fox
Doctor Who flick. I just took it for granted that some things will be
disliked.

I think that most of us are aware that in this playground, we do not smack
one another in the head with our plastic shovels whilst we play in the
sandbox, nor do we shove each other off the monkey bars. We don't call
each other names; and there are no fat people, no thin people here, ONLY
PEOPLE.

This is Rule Number One, taking precedence over long sigs and overquoting
and other such infractions; this is the Rule for which my preferred
response is to set violators to Nopost *instantly*, and quibble over
details later. No polite warning notices, for this is the Golden Rule which
EVERYONE should know. And none of the Listmoms are going to tolerate that
sort of misbehavior... as you all will have noticed. :-)
So people, you might want to take an extra bit of care in posting, re-read
your messages to make sure that there isn't anything like a flame contained
therein... because flames will be doused quickly and thoroughly. Period.

One must keep in mind that since you (and others) were last active on the
list, FORKNI-L has grown in number to something like a THOUSAND
listmembers; and that the mail volume has increased accordingly.
Therefore, each extra-long sig, each instance of over-quoting, adds to the
already heavy usage of bandwidth... and the more members we have, the more
the problem grows, so that the "signature police" are absolutely necessary.
Think of it this way. If you park illegally in a left-turn lane, you stand
a good chance of being ticketed. Why? Because you're obstructing the flow
of traffic, and this is a Bad Thing.
And while I'm on the subject: I would like to publicly thank Allison The
Babysitter for doing an *excellent* job while I was away... an' she didn't
even finish all the soda in the fridge. Good work, woman. :-) And let us
not forget Laurie aka SuperSalopek, who stepped in with cape swirling in
the breeze to defend truth, justice, and the FORKNI-L way... so what if
she left the list locked up for a day and a half by mistake. Must've been
a touch of kryptonite in the water. These things happen.
Besides, it gave the hamsters some time off. ;-)

Well, the Sci-Fi exposure certainly helped Beauty and the Beast. We had quite
a few people findthe show and get into the fandom from Skiffy, and you ask me
it was what saved the fandom, which was nearly fractured beyond hope, but I'm
not going to get into =that= riff, no, no, I am =not=... >8-(

Alright...I give up..I just have to ask...
I obviously joined late and missed something incredibly interesting but
what exactly is the fascination with hamsters concering FK?
I've seen them mentioned several times now and it's getting me very
curious.... :)

I have always been a major ST fan (any) & I haven't seen ST:G yet..
maybe it's finally been played out. And, Dr. Who was a gamble, in
my opinion. Across the pond, different production ethics, & money-bias
experiment. Not flaming it, just stating differences btwn them & FK
possibilities.
I envision a two-hour FK ep as TV movie. One example is BBp1 & BBp2:
When I first saw this on USA, they ran both eps back-to-back the same
evening. Even though both eps were produced as 1-hour eps, having both
shown at the same time was very satisfying. I imagine any producers would
create an new FK as an actual 2-hour movie, though. This has worked
fairly well (in MHO) for the Cagney & Lacey movies. Now, in their case,
the series is long since over & the movies were several years later,
with the same actresses & characters real-time aged.
We wouldn't want to wait that long (for desire & actor availability's
sakes)!
For FK, we could have a 2-hour move 1-2 years from now, as a long,
stand-alone, yet in CANON/universe (plausible) episode... (a bridge, if
you will), to possibly more movies & hence (dare I wish it???) a new
season (if SOON enough). What a build-up! Can you imagine, SciFi
running Seasons 1 & 2 in 1997 while a movie is in production for late
1997 to satisfy OUR hunger?
Face it, we fans are all on PERMANENT FIRST HUNGER-mode for this show!
The hipe! The fan fever!, by the time any new FK is released could be
at the commercial-success level to convince even the most distracted
production/distribution companies!
It could happen, if we will it, wish it, work for it, believe in it...
and persist in all our efforts ENOUGH for it to happen. Oh well, being
fiercely optimistic (w/the stubbornness of Natalie!) again.

The Forever Knight Internet Mailing Lists exist courtesy of the computers
and the Computer Deities at PSU. And deep within the heart of those
computers, powering our Great and Mighty Listserv, are many many hamsters
running endless laps on tiny little treadmills. I am absolutely convinced
of this.
Thus, we have the Sacred Hamsters of FORKNI-L. <g>
And I am going to mercifully refrain from mentioning the

There's a list joke that psuvm, the Penn State mainframe on which the
FK lists run, is powered by hamsters running on those little wheels.
When we get one of those times when the lists keep locking up or the

My morning started out with a CBC Radio interview with Paul Gross on
Morningside with Peter Gzowski. Not that I was in on the interview, but I
did tape it.
Then at lunchtime, I was watching CBC Midday. One of the guests on there
was Gary Farmer talking about his role as "Nobody" in the new movie with
Johnny Depp in "Dead Walk" (or something like that). Unfortunately, I
didn't have a video tape to record it.

says the 1959 Caddy has the most trunk space of any car manufactured
in the last 30 years, and "Dark Knight," in which Ger's Nick says
it's the 1962 Caddy, I can't help but wonder what car can *really*
lay claim to that title. It's probably an Oldsmobile. <g>

a snailmail address on the form.
Please help make our collective voice LOUDER to The Powers That Be
(TPTB). I'm collecting surveys till June 26. Then, hope to have

The murdered accountant's name was: Charles Du Champs.
On a related note, after rewatching Blood Money, it looks to me like the
son was an embezzler who walked. After his father said he wouldn't pay
off his gambling debts, we hear him tell the croupier "There's more where
that came from", as his father is walking to his death. And the initial
meeting between Sean and Felix Twist seemed too cordial for a blackmail
scheme. Sean's reaction to Felix's request for half the DuBrabant money
seemed more indignant, more "we had a deal", than "you've squeezed as
much out of me as I'll allow". Not to mention that Sean wouldn't have to
steal the entire DuBrabant account to pay his debt.
Does anyone else feel that Sean was at best an embezzler and at worst a
willing accomplice to his father's murder? Geez, Schanke even shook his
hand...

We had to check, and sure enough, there it is. Donna says that the
"homo" part is short for "homogenized" and is a subtle reference to the
cows that died that Nick might live. :-)

Multimedia had anounced these changes in `1994. even put down severel
million dollors worth of fiber optics in this towns system(which our city
governement paid for). and when they
announced the news that they were adding all these new channels, they
said "sorry chickasha, we put the wrong cables down, so you'll never get
the sci-fi channel, that is, *unless* you give us several more million
dollars"
well, we didn't, we held our ground, and when the war was declared on tci
another smaller war was called on multimedia. and we won.

Actually, Caroline, it does. Alcohol of the drinking variety is used.
Probably both wine and harder liquor, although that's not exactly gone into
in detail. I could see where it would work, and be an esthetic decision
(dry wine or sweet? Scotch? Tequila? Brandy?). However, I suspect that the
major "flavoring" of blood is hormonal. Further discussion of this would be
a spoiler, and I don't know if Caroline's on FKSPOILR, so I'll leave it at
that.
However, being as I don't believe vampires can really ingest human food
successfully, I seriously doubt they would use "mortal" flavorings -- at
least, not *directly* <EG>.

Well, the Titanic went down in 1912, so yes.
Of course, didn't we just recently have a discussion as to whether we think

I think they missed Bonnie Tyler's ""Faster Than the Speed of Night", but
that's about it. Or did that come out after? Sheesh, after *mumble*
years, you start to lose track... :-)
I thought the facial bone structure changes when vamped out were a little
much; Springfield looked like a squirrel on steroids. Glad they gave that
aspect up...
