Let me guess: it was DRACULA and FRIDAY THE 13TH: THE SERIES. Am I right?

Seriously, gang, don't forget that part one of Black Buddha is on
*tomorrow* (Tuesday) night, instead of tonight because of the holiday.
And I would really encourage everyone, whether they get SciFi or not, to
write them a thank you note (tell them you're pressuring your cable
system to get SciFi *because* they're carrying FK--and do it!).

They have a suspicion we're out here, or they wouldn't carry the show.
Let them know for *sure*.

And - the SciFi channel is doing voice-overs on the movie to tell people
that FK is on tomorrow night, not tonight! This is much nicer than the
stations I've watched FK on for the past several years - they moved FK
without notice or warning.

Well, I cooked that chocolate pizza on Sunday night, but I didn't have
mascarpone cheese, so I used ricotta instead (ricotta is somewhat easier to
get than mascarpone). However, as I am of the understanding that ricotta is
not as sweet than mascarpone, I bought sweet milk chocolate instead of
bittersweet.

Also, instead of nuts, I used "chopped up" raspberries (yummy). Finally,
instead of merely putting the cheese on the pizza, then topping with the
chocolate, raspberries, and bananas, I decided to *mix* the cheese, chocolate,
raspberries and bananas together _before_ putting them on the pizza.

All in all, the pizza was great, although _much_ bigger than the picture in
the TV Guide!

Many thanks to my extra special dinner guest / taste tester (you know who you
are! :-) I couldn't/wouldn't have done it without you!) for putting up
with my eccentric cooking conversation, my frequent and somewhat shocking
yelps of pain whenever I managed to ever-so-slightly slice my thumb on the
"chocolate" grater, not to mention the fact that it took me forever to make
the darned thing! :-)

Cheers,
Cousin Will, definitely showing his FoDly tendencies...

P.S. : That thumb is healing quite nicely. :-) Next time, I think that I'll
use Quik (!) instead of grating the #%&&% chocolate myself! :-) OUCH!!!!

Hi, folks.

It's been many moons since I last showed my beak
on this list... many commitments have occupied my
time elsewhere... yet I still watched FK as I have
since the show first aired.

I'm afraid this last season is to "Forever Knight"
what *Highlander 2* was to *Highlander* ("There should
only have been *one*.") In the case of FK, the producers
messed with the chemistry that had worked among the
characters in the previous seasons, going so far as
to kill off major characters one after another. Now,
with the apparent deaths of the two remaining major
characters of Nick and Natalie (though Lacroix remains,
quite true), it seems the FK production staff has nailed
the final stake deep into the heart of the show, in
essense saying, "Let's see them resurrect it *this* time."

On the subject of the still UnDead and kickin' Lacroix...
well, I can't see a spin-off show featuring just this
one character, can you? Besides which I don't think
many of us could have stood one more episode staring
at the that terrible, thick eye makeup on Nigel Bennett.
Tammy Faye was beginning to get some stiff competition.

I could say more, things about the deaths of Schanke
and Janette, too, but why bother? Either this last
season was a Bobby Euwing-Dallas dream, or the FK
staff suddenly stopped caring about the show.

I, for one, prefer to pretend that this last season
never happened.

Rest in Peace and Syndication, "Forever Knight."

Personally, being a bodybuilder, I don't buy into the notion that
one has to be "fat" to represent peoples' "desire" for a more
"voluptuous"character.
I was once 170 pounds and can therefore attest to what I am about
to propose, without the possibilities of backlash.
Catherine Disher is fat. Period. AND Ger WYN-Davies is no
longer the vestige of youthful physical prowess he used to
represent.
Certainly, then, they complement each other on the show.
HOWEVER, one can be fit and trim without perfection. You all seem
to endow this concept of polar extremes: either one is Pamela
Anderson, or one is Rosanne Barr.
Neither is true. The average woman in America is 5'4 inches and
144 pounds. I happen to be 25 pounds lighter than the average woman,
but that does not exempt me from suffering inperfections.
I have a fat butt and fat thighs.
I would like to see a fit, trim, flawed woman play Natalie. One
that represents the self-discipline to attain a level of athleticness,
but also who isn't a manifestation of cosmetic surgery and silicone
implants. A natural woman.
I have a feeling that people on this list justify themselves through
Disher's character. As a good friend of mine on the weight list
put it: "No excuses. Shut up and train."
If it makes you feel better that Disher hasn't found time to exercise
so be it.
But I don't buy it, not for a second.

Hello Tanya:

As a step aerobics instructor and fitness professional, I might
mention that there is a very, very BIG difference between being
"fat" or "thin" and being "FIT." One does not need to be thin in
order to be fit. One does not need to be a bodybuilder in order to
be fit. I would go as far as to say that I know some bodybuilders
who are truly UNhealthy in their lifestyle and diet.

>I was once 170 pounds and can therefore attest to what I am about
>to propose, without the possibilities of backlash. Catherine
>Disher is fat. Period.
Excuse me, but you can't expect not to have a backlash after a
statement like that unless you happen to be privy to Ms. Disher's
dietary habits, weight and training schedule. One does not need to
be a bodybuilder or a fitness instructor in order to be a healthy,
fit person. Also, one does not need to be a size 6 to be healthy.
The average woman is between a size 10 and a size 14. Are you
implying that Ms. Disher is above a size 14? If so, you need to
take another look. While she may not be as "thin" as Deb Duchene,
she is by no means "fat." As a fitness instructor, I spend more of
my time deconstructing the damage that comments like yours do to a
person's self-esteem than I care to remember.

>HOWEVER, one can be fit and trim without perfection.
One also can be, and usually is, fit without being "trim." Trim
has become the '90s word for thin. I repeat, thin and trim do not
*necessarily* equal fit and healthy. There are some people who are
in great physical health who will never be "trim."

>I would like to see a fit, trim, flawed woman play Natalie. One
>that represents the self-discipline to attain a level of
>athleticness,
I'm sorry, but unless she goes running around in spandex and a tank
top, how are you supposed to know if she's fit and trim (i.e. has
muscular definition)? I have extremely muscular legs and you
certainly can't tell that when I'm wearing pants. If anything,
people would think my legs were heavy, not muscular.

>A natural woman.
Interesting choice of words -- a natural woman doesn't spend four
or five hours a day in the gym. She eats healthy and exercises in
moderation.

>I have a feeling that people on this list justify themselves
>through Disher's character. As a good friend of mine on the
>weight list put it: "No excuses. Shut up and train."
And I ask again, how would you know that Ms. Disher doesn't train
(this word should be exercise, of course)? Are you privy to her
personal life? Do you know what she does every day all day long?

>If it makes you feel better that Disher hasn't found time to
>exercise so be it.
See above.

Yeah, but in who's reality? I've often thought of LaCroix as a
utilitarian with a mischievious streak. Morals aside, if he has a use

vampire life goes. I just rewatched Undue Process and the falshback is

Well no, not really. The second season episodes are listed in filmed
order, not aired order, and the air date information isn't there with a
lot of the episode descriptions for second season. One of the biggest
differences between the filmed order and the aired order is that Crazy
Love was filmed around the middle of the second season, but aired where
I live at the end of the season. I think that's true for some other
places also, but I don't know whether it was typical or not.

The address above, nevertheless, _is_ a real good address to start your

Don't forget word of mouth! Even if you hate having to hear people say,
"I never heard of it," once you've mentioned it to them, they have heard
of it. They may not watch it right away, but hearing about it is the
first step. Where I live, it's gotten to the point that when I mention
Forever Knight, a lot of people have at least heard of it. The more
different people they hear mentioning it, the more likely they are to
give it a try. Remember, there are plenty of fans where ever you live
that you have never met. If you mention Forever Knight to someone today,
someone else may mention Forever Knight to that same person tomorrow.

Word of Warning! - Whatever complaints you may have about Forever Knight,
when you're trying to get new people interested in the show, that is *not*
the time to mention them. Stick to what you like about the show.

To minimize tapes (though not absolutely necessary), I would like it if

Can we all agree NOT to make personal comments about the actors and this
subject? We only narrowly avoided a flamewar some months back over this,
and I'd hate to see such contention just when we should all be pulling
together.

Subject: Use of Lora Haines' name

Hi folks. Remember I am fairly new, and still catching up--quickly, thanks
to so many of you. I have been interested in the opinions of whether the use
of Lora's name was a dig or what. As to the negative views, I defer to those
of you who have a history of interaction with TPTB. I accept that it is
quite probable that a little dark humor went into the decision to use her
name for that particular doomed character. On the other hand....
In recent weeks, having just discovered that an FK fan club exists right
here in the Boston-Cambridge area (duh), I made contact with Lora Haines,
Pauletta Ridout and others who publish a newsletter that everyone but me
must already receive. I asked Lora what she thought, and she said the use of
her name was a compliment. The production people and two lead actors she
talked to conveyed it that way to her, and she is thrilled.
At the Last Knight party this past Saturday, I mentioned that some postings
indicated that the naming was an insult to her or to all the fans, and Lora
confirmed that she did not see it that way, and was indeed flattered. She
said she would get around to posting her opinion to the lists, but as I have
not seen anything from her yet, I post this info in the meantime.
We had a blast at the party. Weird humor prevailed, and we set up Lora as
Laura in the bathtub, adorned with bleeding bandages...and we took pix.
The Boston-area fan club seems to be a great group. Everyone was cheerful
and chocolate-loving.

Subject: We don't do personal comments

I'm not the listowner for Forkni-l now, nor do I play one on tv <g>,
but I was once the acting listowner. That's means I know about this
unwritten rule on FK, because I'm the one who had to make it explicit.

Forkni-l doesn't *do* personal comments on the actors, and especially
not negatively phrased comments on appearance. It's one thing to mention
in passing as someone did recently, that Ger's lost some hair over the
course of the show. It would be quite another if I said that he looked
awful and should try Rogaine. The latter is negative and intrudes into
Ger's personal life.

So please, stop and think. There are a number of conduits back to cast
and crew. Some we know of, some we don't. Before making a personal
comment, ask yourself, "would I want to say this at a con, and then
discover that the person I'm talking about was standing right behind
me?" Yes, that has happened on occasion.

There are nearly 1,000 members of this list. Most of us haven't seen
each other. We can't know whose feelings we might be hurting with derogatory
comments. Even more important -- we can't know how other listmembers
might regard us if they could see us.

So let's all be charitable with ourselves and the people of FK.

Bravo! Bravo! (clap, clap) I couldn't have said it better myself....

The old phrase "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything"
comes to mind...(of course, some people believe in the alternative old phrase
"If you don't have anything nice to say, please come sit with us!")

I watched BB Pt1 on a syndie station over the weekend for the first time
since it originally aired. I saw it in a whole new light after viewing
Last Knight just last week...I was still depressed all over again at loosing
Schanke/Cohen/Janette in just one episode but (I'm almost afraid to admit it)
it was actually kinda nice to see Tracy again...living, breathing and....PERKY!

Tanya,

First of all how in the world can you make this sweeping statement??? Fat
and thin is a oppion You may think she is fat but others may think she
looks healthy. Or normal.

and a size 14. which size do stories by more of? 14 & 12 which one is
gone the quickest 14. a size 14 is by no means fat. A woman may simply
have hips (heaven forbid)

Why? Nat spends all her time in a dark room with dead people. She dosen't
get out alot. This is her character. who she is. IMO Nat dosen't seen like
the type to spend hours working to get a fit, trim body.

It is nice to see someone who is not a size 2 on TV. contrary to popular
TV Everyone is not. and it is not healthy. Someone can be meaty looking
and be wonderfully healthy. They just may have a big bone structure or
big hips or where the wrong cloths that make them look alot bigger than
they realy are (IMO this is alot of what makes CD look bigger than she is
kill those wardrobe folks)
I like CD playing Nat and think she is perfect for it. If Nat was a
little thin looking tracey I don't think i would like her as much.
This is just what I think.....

ENOUGH!

None of us are in the position to criticize ANYONE about ANY aspect of that
person whether it be physical or spiritual!

There is a difference between being critical as in critiquing, and critical as
in blasting. Let's work on the former and try to avoid the later.
