Hey, Hey All :)
I've gotten a bunch of questions about this, so I've compiled them
all and I'm posting them to the list to save myself a little time
and to make sure I don't miss anyone.
Question #1:

The copies are being made by someone else (that person is
able to make copies free of charge); however, the scripts are being
forwarded to me and I will be mailing them out to the people who
want one. Therefore, it is my understanding that all
correspondence concerning getting a copy should be forwarded to me.
Question #2:

Certainly :) The checks for the charities ($5.00) should be made
out to the charity that you chose --
Pediatric AIDS Foundation (funds research & such for kids
with AIDS)
Casey House (a hospice for people suffering with AIDS)
or the third one which I haven't gotten name confirmation on
as of yet (Children's Hospital Foundation).
The check or whatever for shipping should be made out to me -- Lisa
Prince ($1.00 to $1.50 I think Laurie indicated). HOWEVER, if at
all possible, I'd rather people send me stamps (5 would more than
likely cover the postage). If it turns out that less are necessary,
I will be sure to return the extras to you.
Question #3:

You can send one check, two checks, or three checks. It's up to
you. The one thing that I would ask, if you are sending more than
one check (of $5.00 denominations, of course), that you indicate
whether you want a corresponding number of scripts. i.e.: two
checks for $5.00 each = two scripts.
Since it is only $5.00, I would suggest that you pick one charity
to donate that $5.00 to. If you'd like to donate $5.00 to each
charity in exchange for a script, feel free to do so. If you do
that, just let me know whether or not you want the extra scripts.
Additional Note: As Laurie mentioned, scripts will not be ready to
be mailed until the end of May or the first week in June. If you'd
like to, you can reserve yours now by sending in your donation and
I will send your script out as soon as possible.

Since Forever Knight is ending its run, are you doing another show?
Nigel just had a role in "Star Command," with embarrassing tacky 60's
miniskirts, but it might be a pilot for a new series. He was a very
good VOTW there.
How much of LaCroix is you, and how much is the writers? We
collaborate. Got excellent basics in the first season.
What's your favorite line? "They're so noisy, but I love the free
food."
Your least favorite? One script in particular which was written by
the producer's wife and we couldn't change it. A "real stinker."
Why aren't there more arcs to the stories in FK? A production
decision for each episode to stand on its own. At first there wasn't
any consistency with the characters. This is good for syndication
(sales and money), where stations can't necessarily show the series in
sequence, but is bad for character development.
Do you ever talk about AIDS on the set, considering that FK is a
vampire show and vampires exist on blood? Not really. "Fever" was as
close as we got.
PN Elrod and Nigel are collaborating on a series of books about
vampires, the first of which is to be called "Keeper of the King." It
is about a modern vampire and his adventures. Nigel got a phone call
from his agent asking if he would write the books. He was already
friends with PN, and looked her up for a little advice. When he found
out that she had been selected as the pro writer to help him, he decided
to do it.
Favorite bumper sticker: "Vampires have safe sucks."
Nigel said dialog was easier to write than scenes. He's not as
good at writing feelings. PN said he underestimates his ability.
Do you have trouble writing a particular point of view? No. He
prefers to write from third person. PN wrote her first ten books from
first person, but can do third person easily.
How much of your book's hero is autobiographical? Quite a lot.
When is it coming out? Baen Books in January 1997.
What else have you written? Never been published before.
What did you do when you found you had a fan club? He was like a
kid at Christmas, but not really comfortable with the idea. A fan
club is humbling. His parents were blue collar, worked in a factory.
He was a teacher for a year before he began acting. He was born in
Essington about 15 miles outside of Birmingham.
Have you read any fan fiction? Do you log onto the internet? Yes,
and yes, but lurks only.
How many fan conventions have you been to? Into the double digits,
he doesn't really know.
How do you find directing yourself? Very difficult. When he is in
the scene, he can watch rehearsals with standins on the monitors, but he
doesn't get to see how he did until the rushes the next day.
Concentration for one or the other vanishes.
Will you continue directing? A possibility, on other series. His
career is spreading, and he likes it quite well. He loves TV, but would
like to do stagework. Unfortunately, it doesn't pay.
Was there any time period you'd like to do a flashback? Gangster
20's.
Are the first two episodes, "Dark Knight," on video. Don't think
so.
He almost left after episode two of the third season. "It stank."
But was persuaded to stay.
PN's favorite book she wrote is "I, Strad." Other favorites are
the "Vampire Files." She edited
a book with a short story entitled "Faith Like Wine," by Longstreet,
which has been nominated for a Hugo award this year.
Nigel read an excerpt from their novel. His voice is uncanny.
Deep and resonant, it hushed the auditorium and sent chills shooting
down spines and raised gooseflesh on many. Inflection, enunciation and
pacing enthralled the crowd. Hypnotic.
How did you land the role of LaCroix? Did a normal audition, with
three recalls, finally a phone call to show up for shooting "tomorrow."
If Hollywood bought your book, would you want to star? No, he'd
want to direct.
He loves golf. What's your handicap? 14-16, "sort of average."
Asked him if he'd consider doing a short skit from "Rocky Horror
Picture Show" with Peter Wingfield. He said it would be fun, but he was
too old now. Too much "groin thrusting."
Are there any plans to release a recording of LaCroix' radio
readings? Talk to the producer.
How was the breakfast benefit? "It was fun, good, the teeth marks
will disappear..." PN said he was less worried about tooth marks than
about drowning in the drool.
He is a much lighter, brighter person than his character. Funny,
great sense of humor.
Any screen plays in the works? He's about a quarter done on one
based on a historical fact.
His mother has not seen Forever Knight. She did see him in a play
once, where his lines were, "F***, f***, f***, etc." He did this in
full frontal nudity. His mother was deeply offended by the dialog and
never mentioned the lack of costume at all. I think he's got to look
better than Harvey Keitel.
There will be a charity auction of all props from Forever Knight in
San Francisco on October 18-20 this year. Contact the Nigel Bennett fan
club for more information, and bring lots of money.
Speaking of charity auction, ours started about 6:00.

company logo "Black Hat
Productions," embroidered in black silk, signed by Nigel, $30.

Henderson, $25. I wonder what the difference was between the US and
British version? If the person who bought it would
let the rest of us know...

The auction ended about 7 p.m. Time for dinner, relaxing,
preparing for the long night ahead.
A few things were going on. The dealer's room closed at six, and
even the video room was shut down. But the Peter Wingfield Fan Club had
a meeting in a set aside room, where he was
_mobbed_. Also, the HIGHLA-L had a meeting.
The line for the Jim Byrnes concert started about the time the
auction got over. Convention organizers booted everyone out of the
ballroom so they could set up tables and rearrange the chairs around the
dance floor, and set up the stage for the band.
The band arrived directly from the airport at about 9:30, and they
opened the doors to allow fans in about 10:00.
Saw Nigel and Peter over in the far stage left corner, and wondered
if they had discussed their "Rocky Horror" experiences. Also spotted
Liz with an unnamed male friend, Ken Gord, Bill Panzer, Gillian Horvath,
Donna Lettow, PN Elrod, Jason Henderson, and TJ Glenn in the same
corner. TJ's people circulated throughout the crowd. There were tables
set up for about 120 people, rumor has it they sold 500 tickets. The
rest of the crowd either brought in chairs or sat on the floor, although
this didn't last long.
The band went up on stage at 10:15, and got started about 10:20.
The wait was worth it. The band started with a quick jazz tune that got
everybody's blood pumping. He played no real slow tunes but once,
before the mid break. The sax screamed and moaned in that first number,
and that set the tone. The rest of the evening was a combination of
jazz and rhythm and blues.
After about the first three selections, 20-30 girls got up to
dance, and this drew couples onto the floor. Most of the celebrities
danced, and everyone seemed to enjoy it. The band broke at about 11:15,
and returned at midnight for another hour's set.
The audience basked in the smooth sounds of steel guitar, base,
drums and keyboard as well as the sax (nice ensemble). Aged scotch for
your ears slid into your soul over a dry palate, sliding down your
throat, warming your heart and gut, smooth, slick, velvet and thick.
The pulse of slow arousal, overwhelming your senses, filling your being
in a crescendo of heat.

I'm putting my Perkulator hat on for a few minutes. I'm still a Die-Hard,
so I'm allowed to switch whenever I want. :)
It has occurred to me that a lot of people do not like Tracy's character.
Many compare her unfavorably to Schanke. While it is true that Tracy will
<never> be able to match Schanke, she does have a few good qualities.
It has also come to my attention that many people lambast Tracy for things
that Nick does on a regular basis. Now we can squabble for eternity over
the picky matter of Nick being well-nigh invulnerable (any Tick fans out
there?), and Tracy being a poor mortal... but I'm not going to.
So I tried to stand back from the situation, and look at it from the
viewpoint of a semi-detached researcher. I give you:

I hate to send a "Me too" but I have to say that I agree with these
sentiments. I have interpreted "Last Knight" in a way that leaves both
Nick and Natalie alive, possibly an ending that indicates this will be the
crisis that finally gets Nick to act differently, but it doesn't make me
feel any better to hear that the original script had them both dying. Is that
really what James Parriot wanted for his characters? After all the
intelligence that went into Forever Knight, is that really the only answer
that James Parriot can come up with; that it all necessarily ends in tragedy?
A few people have said how wonderfully sad it was, how it was great because
it really *affected* them. Well I think there was enough sadness in
Forever Knight without this. After a while, it stops being affecting and
just becomes gratuitous. Last Knight crossed that line.
I am really wondering about a Forever Knight movie. If having Nick and
Natalie die was the answer that James Parriot envisions, how would a movie
done by him be any better?

I'm not a member of any particular faction (that I'm aware of); I just like
"Forever Knight"!!
I think the relationship between Nick and LaCroix is an important part of
any story. In my opinion, Nick is LaCroix's favorite son, and he looks at
his attempts to regain mortality as the actions of a foolish, unthinking
child. He looks at Nick's actions with a kind of contemptuous tolerance;
you can almost hear him saying "Oh Nicholas, you are such a fool!"
In many of LaCroix's lectures to Nick, the tone of voice is very
patronizing, as if he is explaining something very basic to an errant child.
Still, there is something in Nick that LaCroix must find worthy of his
efforts, or he would have let Nick go a long time ago to find his own way.
Perhaps it is that Nick resists him, and does want to change himself.
Perhaps no one has ever resisted LaCroix like that before, and he finds it
fascinating, or at least, amusing. Or, perhaps LaCroix secretly admires him
for his effort, failed though it may be.
Nick may despise LaCroix and his beliefs, but he has got to admire
LaCroix's consistancy, if nothing else! LaCroix doesn't change his opinions
often (if at all) and stands by his decisions without regret. There is a
logic to LaCroix's point of view, and you always know where you stand with
him. That actually makes LaCroix easier and safer to deal with than many
people!

That being said, I'm <sure> there are mistakes. Carrie just pointed out

I'd love to get any other corrections you notice, but I'm not going to
start working on who gets killed in the flashbacks.
Reason #1 : I don't have the energy.
Reason #2 : Nick's number would go into the triple digits, and I don't want
to mess with the format.

Yes...
Let me clarify my take on this. After all, I originated the term "Dark
Knightie"!
The emphasis is on who you relate to the most or who you follow. I'm a
dedicated Knightie, do not follow LaCroix, cannot consider myself a Cousin
because I feel WAY more for Nick than I ever could for LC, but I DO want Nick
to chill, let go of the angst and guilt that crushes him, and learn to live
AS A VAMPIRE, even to being good as he already is. He doesn't even have to
leave the police force! I do not want Nick to be LIKE LaCroix. I want Nick
to find some peace in the life he's in, because I don't think there is a cure
out there somewhere, think he'd be lucky to last a day as a mortal, and know
that he'd miss his vampire powers terribly. As Nick himself said, "Eternity
is a long time to keep running" - and I take that in this context to mean to
keep running from what he is - and as Janette said, "Deal with it!"
Are we beginning to get the picture here?
As a Dark Knightie (like all Knighties) I am focused on Nick. Totally.
Cousins are focused on LaCroix
We may have the same outcome in mind, but our mindsets are coming from two
different angles. Two sides to the same coin??

On more than one occasion, Mr Parriott sent his thanks to this list via
other people, including myself. He also donated the two scripts for the
"Bring Someone Across" campaign,(which there doesn't seem to be much
interest in) when all I had asked was if he could send us something signed,
I never expected him to send *two* signed scripts which were autographed by
the respective authors. He sent these to me at his expense, as did Fred
Mollin who sent an autographed copy of the artwork for his CD. I took the
two scripts to Baltimore with me and Nigel Bennett was kind enough to sign
them for us, at risk of missing his plane. To quote him, he turned to his
assistant and said "I promised" and kindly signed them both.
Mr Parriott was also kind enough to grant an interview that I have finally
gotten written up. I found him to be a very nice man and he was 100% behind
a future for the show. He has had nothing but praise for the efforts that
the fans have made.
What a lot of people here do know and a lot don't is that he is on AOL and
had received been receiving some less than favorable mail. I can only
imagine what he's been getting after "Last Knight" and I personally don't
think its warranted, but to defend that statement, I would have to cross
over the "no spoiler" line, which I'm not going to do.
Although I am not very experienced in fandom, I am amazed at the way the
actors and producer of FK have made contact with the viewers. I have yet to
see that in any other fandom, although, like I said, I'm inexperienced,
maybe its common place. Mr Parriott has never hid his identity or ID from
anyone over on AOL, just as Mr Bennett posts here openly.
This man gave us a great show, 3 years of it. But, its his carreer, not a
fandom or a hobby or just an interesting TV show, its what feeds his
family.I know that I don't know the story behind the last episode or the
dynamics as to why it was, so I'm not going to criticize, besides I don't
have any criticism of it. I don't know what anyone expects from him. I'm
just glad that he gave us the FK experience and through that I have met all
of you wonderful people.

I am presenting this to you as a possible idea for a new contest.
If you were to select an animal to represent any character from FK what
would it be? Aw, come on, for fun, sport and amusement! Here goes.
Nick - a golden retriever. Beautiful soulful eyes, soft silky blonde hair,
steadfast and loyal to the end, but a little to eager to jump into the pond
(if you know what I mean <vbg>)
Natalie - A cat definately. Probably of the long-haired variety. Maybe a
Himalayan with an attitude.
Reese - A St. Bernard. Sort of explains the need for all that water <bg>.
Vachon - nope, better leave this one alone <There be rabid Vaqueros here>.
LaCroix - a snake. Sleek, beautiful, infinitely wise (after all wasn't it
a snake who supposedly gave man the gift of knowledge in the Garden of
Eden), and hypnotic.
Schanke - he couldn't be anything *but* a human male (Hey, they're
animals...isn't it great!)
Oh and I almost forgot.
Janette - Definately feline. How about a panther. Sleek, beautiful and
deadly with a tendency to be cranky when not fed regularly.
Comments or contrary opinions....anyone?

I got a lot of empty, phoney, e-don't-carry-that-

7. (Urs to Vachon as the phone rings) If that's Drew Barrymore's
attorney, I'm not in.
6. (Natalie to Nick) Is that a gun in your pocket? Or you just
really glad to see me. Oh, Damn it! That is just a gun.
5. (Janette to LaCroix) Stop sulking. All I said was that I liked
the movie. I never said I thought Tom Cruise was more evil than
you.
4. (Tracy to anybody that will listen) I'm not really a dumb blonde.
My natural color is light auburn.
