Well, I'm pro-choice, a meat eater, and support the death penalty, so ya
can't call me a hypocrite :D But, seriously, I do find such situations
interesting. Like people that are vegetarians and keep pets. And of
course, they don''t feed their cats and dogs broccoli, do they?

Can any fellow listmembers help me find FK on TV for a friend of mine?
She lives in Amherst, Massachusetts (near the University) and she
reported to me that FK has mysteriously disappeared from the weekly TV

all over Massachusetts, as well as Hartford, Connecticut. If you can

Regarding the new video files and screensaver on Sony's FK web site, Ray

I think the problem people are having is some incorrect HTML code in the
Sony FK page. There are three new video files in their directory, but
they are improperly linked to the page. To find the files themselves
without having to wait for them to fix the coding problems, set your
browser to:

  http://www.spe.sony.com/Pictures/tv/forever/

This will take you to an index of all the files in Sony's main FK
directory.

The files you're looking for are in two formats: Quicktime (.mov) and
Video for Windows (.avi). As a general rule, MAC users want the
Quicktime ones and PC users want the .avi files, but some people have
software that can handle both.

The file names are:

  forever.avi - or - forever.mov
  forever2.avi - or - forever2.mov
  forever3.avi - or - forever3.mov

Anyone who has previously downloaded the video files that have been on the
Sony site for a while -- the ones that are essentially commercials for the
show (although I don't recall ever seeing them on TV) -- will notice that
one of the new video files above (forever2.avi or forever2.mov) has the
same file name as one of the older video clips. You might want to rename
one of them so you don't overwrite the old one. (The old video files I'm
talking about are still on the Sony site, but they are in a subdirectory
called "assets" off the main directory noted earlier.)

All three of the new video files are outtakes from the third season. The
third one is perfect for Perkulators, since it is a clip in which Lisa
Ryder absolutely cannot stop herself from laughing. :^)

> The Screen Saver was also disappointing. It's a picture of a TV with
> the FK logo moving across it in various directions.

Yeah, the screensaver was pretty dull. There is a program for Windows 3.1
on the market called "Movie Time!" that makes a screensaver from any .gif,
.bmp, and .avi files you have -- including the .avi files above! With
this program you can make your own Forever Knight screensaver and put the
pictures and video files *you* like on it. (Right now my screensaver is
featuring .gifs from "The Fix" and pictures from newspaper articles about
GWD in "Taming of the Shrew"!)

A demonstration version of this program is available for download on the
internet. If you have a PC with Windows 3.1 and want instructions on
making your own screensaver with this program, e-mail me *off-list* with
the word SCREENSAVER in the subject line and I'll forward some
instructions to you. :^) No, I don't know how to make a similar
screensaver if you have Windows 95 or a Mac. Sorry!

The path I found to work was www.spe.sony.com/Pictures/tv/forever/assets/
and then forever1.mov, forever2.mov, forever3.mov, forever1.avi, forever2
avi or forever3.mov directly following the last slash. also,
...tv/forever/forever1.mov worked for me. They simply put the path in wrong.

"Hi, I'm Judi. I'm a list newbie and a Forever Knight junkie." <extending a
virtual handshake here> I've been a fan of the show since the first ep, many
many (full) moons ago, and am mighty glad to have found these lists (thanx to

I am also one of the Gerthering's "chosen 100", so I guess I'll be seeing
some of you there!

Of course, I also have an ulterior motive (doesn't everybody?) ;-) After
being tormented by all this discussion about the expanded Canadian episodes
and "missing scenes", I was wondering if anyone knows of a source for tapes
of these eps. (IMHO, you can never have _too much_ FK!) Please e-mail me
privately if you can point me in the right direction ... Thanks!

Also, regarding affiliations ... I have definite Dark Knightie and FoD

private e-mail).

Sorry that last message went to the list. It was the
first posting I'd made to FORKNI-L since switching
to an Internet account that has a genuine RFC 822-
compliant mailer, and I didn't realize that this
list had a Reply-To line set to the list address.

Anyway....back at the time of this year's Gemini
awards I heard that Nigel had won one, but I just
saw a tape of the show and he wasn't on it. Were
supporting-actor awards given out on one of the
preceding (not broadcast) evenings?

I'm also confused because there was a reference
on the broadcast (Sunday evening) show to Gordon
Pinsent winning an award, and I assumed it was
for supporting actor on "Due South." But that
would have put him up against Nigel, so if Nigel won...

Can anyone north of the border enlighten me? Thanks!!

That's exactly what it was--Nigel's award was given out on the preceding
evening and not broadcast (grrrr!)

Gordon was nominated in two categories, and won in the category that
didn't include Nigel. I'm a little fuzzy right now as to what the
difference was exactly; something about one performance was as a guest
star, and one was as a supporting player? Maybe Lynn Ackerman can help us
out here!

Hi,

I heard the collective screaming last night when WKBW goofed and showed the
last half of Jane Doe rather than the last half of Francesca.

I've already written to WKBW to register a complaint. Of course, I had to
wait until this morning before I could say something polite enough to be
taken seriously. If you want to do so as well, you can reach their program
director Sarah Norat-Phillips at snorat@w........

Their snail mail addie is:

Their telephone number is: (716) 845-6100 or toll free at (800) 234-9529.

Maybe if we all write and call, and complaint politely and loudly enough
they will re-air Francesca in the near future.

i wonder if Nick will ever tell Tracey about his 'nature.' of course
he should, just because she already knows a bit of background from
Vachon;

so vampire souls are immortal; that shouldn't matter very much
because apparently in this ep, all souls are "immortal" [end scene
with Tracy regressing]--both mortal and immortal, except maybe
the vampire soul is stronger and more assertive? scary thought!
one teeny tiny thing: Nat shouldn't be so uncertain about reincarnation
if immortality is right there in front of her face; in fact, i'd think
reincarnation is more feasible than immortality!

'rxn' - expression? Nicholas Chevalier. Chevalier means 'knight' in French.
Vachon knows perfectly well who that is.

Nick knows that Tracy knows about Vachon, and Nick has made it very clear
to Vachon that he expects Vachon to keep Tracy safe, inasmuch as Tracy's
knowledge of the existence of vampires is dangerous to her.

Not at all. Nat sees immortality as a physical condition, and reincarnation

Subject: Kindred Vs. FK

On the topic of "The Haven" in Kindred...

I *STRONGLY* doubt it's a takeoff on FK.

Why?

Those of you who've played the Vampire: The Masquerade game will
know. But those of you who don't, pay attention: "Haven" is a game
term, it refers to the character's safe sleeping spot for daytime
hours. The fact that the bar is called "Haven" is a blatent way of
saying "Here's where I sleep for the day" - but only to those who are
`in the know'...

And yes, I have watched the show, and Yes, I'm *THOROUGHLY* disgusted
by it. I'm sorry, not EVERYONE in a show ought to be of the "pretty
boy" style. Hell, even the villans are "pretty boys" (except for a
recent Nosferatu, and I'm still wondering how he escaped the "pretty
boy" look...) And vampires out during the day? Eeek, what ELSE are
they doing to shred the game. Sheese! It's a dressed up Blood Ties
with different characters. <shudder> Rant, rant, rant...

I think I know how to download the fun outtakes.
Try this URL:

http://www.spe.sony.com/Pictures/tv/forever

The outtakes are: forever.mov, forever2.mov and forever3.mov
Just click on the name to download it.
Don't try to get them from the main page, they got their
links mix up or something.

Hi, I've seen a reference to this several times and still can't figure out
what it means, so I'm gonna break down and ask someone....

What's a JADFE???
How is it related to BB/Vachon? as I have seen reference to each other in
some of your postings.

It's probably something really really simple, and I know I am going to kick
myself for not being able to figure it out, but the curiosity is just
eating me up!!!

I will add it to my index.

A brief conversation I had with a fellow writer & sf fan today:

Him: Have you seen that new vampire TV show?
Me: Oh, you mean "Kindred"? Yeah, once. Hated it.
Him: Me too. Much too sleazy.
Me: I can recommend a much *better* vampire show...
Him: (Grinning) "Forever Knight"?
Me: You've seen it?
Him: I caught it for the first time last night. You're right. It IS a much
                      better show.
Me: You'd love the theme -- it's about a vampire seeking to redeem
                    his soul.
Him: Oh, cool! I'd like to see more!
Me: I think I could arrange that...

This conversation took place this morning -- between church services. I can
find converts in some of the most unlikely places. :-)

Just saw "Be My Valentine" courtesy of a friend's borrowed tapes. What _is_
the thoroughly peculiar verse LaCroix is quoting in this episode??? Sounds
like Jack Kerouac, or one of his "Beat Generation" buddies.

Has anyone compiled a complete reference list of LaCroix's quotations? I'd
like to see that...

yee-ha! there's only one other person in my dorm that i know
likes FK, but she's not exactly a regular. everyone else thinks
i'm strange [i even have to hide it from my roomie!].
sadly, the FK universe has lost one fan--my brother--who thinks
it's a nice show for its dark and heavy side, but he's anal about his

Was the Francesca Episode only a problem from WKBW, the Buffalo station,
or was it the way the tape was distributed from Paragon(?) or whoever?

JADFE-is an acronym for James And Darkangels Forever Erotica list. Fiction
posted to this list would be inappropriate for many, an is not intended for
distribution to those under 18 years of age. It's also an awful lot of fun.
I'll send you along the subscription information privately.

No, I saw the episode including the tag, twice already, on two
independent (or maybe FOX) stations in the Baltimore/Washington area.
The first was on Thursday night and the second on Saturday night.
