Jamie--I agree with you whole-heartedly. That was the exact reason I was
playing devil's advocate: that we are not in a position to judge "vampires".
Mad Hatter--I see your point. You say killing because of our omnivorous
nature is not evil, but you leave out that we don't have to kill to survive.
Therefore, do we not kill to enjoy the pleasures of the flesh of the animal?
Thus, one cannot assert that vampires who kill for pleasure (ie for the
enjoyment of the blood of the animal--homosapien--) are evil, but that is
what you suggest.
I find inconsistencies interesting. Kind of like the choice abortionists who
are against the death penalty and the right-for-lifers who will send people
to the gas chamber.
Aren't we intriguing?

Subject: FTPs and other unknown aliens

Whoops...I've been lurking. I did *not* mean to, but I've been busier than
usual. Also, sadly, my older dog, Meaghan, who has been with me through
*real true thick and thin* for more than 11 years (she was almost 14) , died
Thursday morning at 5:15 a.m. Could have used Perry the night before for
sure.....

There is so much good fiction happening--I'm sorry I have neglected to post
authors with congrats. S. Garret's EC piece was *very* special--I'm really
sorry Tippi's EC-zine is on hold, but having gotten and read the EC FAQ
makes EC contributions priceless. I hope my little piece of fluff made some
sense as I had thrown in some references to other EC happenings that might
have been clearer in a group of stories (???)

I am going to need some more help trying for fiction from the FTP site--if I
get out of windows or Eudora, I am LOST. I am correct--that is now *the*
archive. This whole fanfic business is *very* good for me. I have been
writing since I was 5 years old--really--and have just *not done anything
with it*.

Serious (???) thought--I'd like to put some effort into the SciFi on TCI
campaign and/ or *all else* that will help boost morale and keep this "ship"
together--I have grown very, very attached to the group and big time,
seriously do NOT want it gone. I think what Susan Garret expresses through
our FK characters' fandom of EC is really important. If you haven't read
it--read it.

FK--and we, *The Fandom* have a lot to contribute to beauty and mystery and
recreating this world better.............

messages regarding a comparison of "Kindred" and FK. Now what's the problem
you ask? the problem is...THIS IS THE FOREVER KNIGHT LIST...calm blue ocean, not
the "Kindred, the Embraced" list. Our own dear Web Goddess has complained about
this, and as I recall, gave an ultimatum that conversations regarding "Kindling"
er, "Kindred" were to take place somewhere else! Kindred is only a mediocre
show, so why go on complaining about such a load of bollocks, when you are
(hopefully) a part of this list to talk about such a wonderful show as FK? FK
is what this List was Created for, and I personally would like to keep it that
way. And if you must disscuss Kindred, do it *Privately* Please! Thank you.

I've been trying to clean out some files so the next time a list explodes on me
it won't blow my disk quota again. In the process, I've found two stories I
never downloaded because I was missing parts. I searched FKFIC-L with a

So, if anyone has any of the following, I'd be very grateful if you could send
them to me:

The Gift (pt. 1)
The Serpent's Kiss (pts. 3-6)

Hi, you don't know me, but I was at Dottie's-didn't know anyone. Could you
tell me please what wonderful sights you learned of? I went around and took
pictures of what I could find-
The "fake" police station (that's really a library)
The "real" police station, (that looks like a library, or museum)
The Coroner's office
The CN tower
Where was the restaurant?
Where was the Studio?
What other sights did you learn of?
Did you happen to find out what beach the episode (duh, I'm drawing a blank.
The rock star one, where Nick feels shut out and alone, the family stares at
him?) was shot on?

If you would send me the addresses or directions to these places I would be
most grateful. I'm only 4 1/2 hours drive away, so I'd like to go back and
snap more photos before the FK signs are gone.

If there's anything I can do for you, just let me know.
Thanks so much,

to scream when I thought of all I missed! (May 11, I'm there on USA.
Despite what pills they are)

[The following should only be taken as seriously as it deserves.]

Two small observations about food, morality, and cows.

Looking at the big picture, there are other, more selfish reasons not to
raise cows for food. Cows need a LOT of grazing space that could otherwise
be used to grow vegetable crops; the amount of feed that needs to be grown
to give to them could be used in more constructive ways; and frankly, with
the world population increasing as it is, and the amount of people starving
on the earth, switching to vegetarianism is a nicely conservative idea.

Or at least eat range-fed beef, if you can manage it.

Same reason you shouldn't kill people if you're a vampire. :) (You didn't
think I could relate this to FK, did you? ha!) If you kill someone,
they're only a meal once. If you leave 'em alive, they can donate again and
again and again.

Now, I don't know what the vampire population of Toronto is. I assume the
ratio of vamp-to-human is low enough that they're in no danger of a blood
shortage. But this killing that Lacroix and others have had occasion to do
is silly. Why stampede the cattle?

I don't know if anyone has offered help, yet but here's my
contribution. First, don't feell if anyone has singled you out. The
same thing happened to me awhile back, and I have no idea why. Second,
what you have to do (and this is for the Fk list - I don't know about
the others) is to send a command to the listserv (not the list ) like
this: SET FORKNI-L MAIL and SET FKFIC-L MAIL. The listserv address
is LISTSERV@p........ Don't send anything but these commands.
Hope this helps.

The Screen Saver was also disappointing. It's a picture of a TV with

No, I got the same thing. The FK commerical, while not an outtake,
is pretty cool, though. If you want some real FK outtakes (audio,
though, not visual), I currently have a collection on my waves site:
http://www.dpcc.com/dpcc/assoc/lpetix/waves/

These are from the 2nd season blooper reel (you know, the one that
doesn't exist) and feature Nick (*much* too much of Nick!!), Schanke,
LaCroix, Natalie and Cohen, and their alter-egos. ;-)

I also have a bunch of Klaus waves up this week at my "Dracula: the
Series" website. (For those who don't know, GWD had a reoccuring
guest role as the vampire Klaus on "Dracula: the Series" in 1990).
I am bit behind in keeping up with the Sci-Fi channel's airing of
D:TS episodes, and I'm featuring "Black Sheep" this week (it aired
three or four weeks ago); hence the Klaus waves.

Maybe because vampires are more vulnerable when feeding? Or because when
they lose control they become gluttonous?

Hi All

Opened my cable bill yesterday to find a brochure from TCI saying that,
(don't fall over or anything) they're going to carry the SFC come June
1!! Supposedly it was one of the most requested channels, so there's
hope yet! If they've added it in Tucson after all this time, maybe
they'll do it in other areas as well. Keep up the fight!

First, I have to apologize to everyone who sent condolences to me. I didn't
have the forethought to save each post so I could say thank you individually.
There were so many....

I am heartwarmed by the response from members on the list. Thank you for your
thoughts and prayers. The loss of my mother was made doubly hard since I was
not at home but in TO at the time. Since coming home though, I have been
surrounded literally and virtually by the warmth and kindness of the members
of the list. There will never be enough words to express my gratitude to you
all.

Special thanks to Quinn, Allison, Dotti, Will, Nancy Taylor and a very
special thanks to Rosemary and George...

With friends anywhere in the world (including cyberspace) like you, no one
could feel alone. The tears I cry now are filled with a joy that comes from
being cared for. Thank God for all of you.

I love you all. I really do.

I've been lurking for a while, but I thought everybody would get a kick
out of this one:

I had to write a paper on the Holocaust for my Western Civilization
class, and at the beginning I used a quote from LaCroix in Black Buddha:
"Who knows that pain of death better, he who gasps his final breath, or
we who must breathe the foul air of his decomposition?"
I just got the paper back, and the GTA (grad-teaching assistant) wrote
next to it, Good quote! That just made my day!

The fiction site is currently be reworked, so yes, I suppose you could
say that it's "down."

As soon as it's back up, Laurie Salopek will let me know, and I'll let
you all know too.

The rest of the FTP Site, however, is still available. I was there this
