Subject: Forebodings

Hi all! I just couldn't keep quiet any longer. I got my Forebodings tape
today and, man oh man, is it ever good! We frequently discuss what a
wonderful voice Nigel has (think Tangled Web will ask him to do a book? <g>),
but we just as frequently seem to overlook, or at least not discuss, Ger's
vocal talent. Oh, what that man can do to me with his voice can only be
discussed on jadfe <vbg>! If anything, I think I like this one better than
Hauntings, if that's possible.

Also wanted to pass along a quote from an e-mail I received from Linda Jones,
the Managing Director of Tangle Web Audio. She said, "It was my first effort
at direction (couldn't have picked a better actor to work with)....." Don't
we all *know* it! :)

If you haven't bought this yet; run, don't walk to your nearest mailbox! If
you need ordering info, you can e-mail me privately.

ObFK: (No, Vickie, this isn't IT. Hi!) I believe that LC truly loved Fleur.
I also believe that Nick was fully justified in talking him out of bringing
her across. No matter the reason, selfishness, continuation of the lineage,
whatever, I think Nick did the right thing. That doesn't stop me from feeling
a bit sorry for Lacroix though...

Subject: CHALLENGE: Forever Not - The Newhart Approach

With the slow approach of LK, we wait with bated breath (PUT THOSE WORMS
AWAY!) to see how the professionals will handle their own "FOREVER NOT"
challenge (and to compare it to our efforts).

A lot of speculation about the series finale <?!?> has been bandied
about, suggesting a B7 type closure. I'd prefer the Newhart approach...
 ------
"Harrison, wake UP!!!"

"Wha-!?"

"Thank GOD, he's finally coming around. Harrison, listen to me! It was
all just a dream. You contracted an alien VR virus, and they tried to
brainwash you through remote control. Do you remember what you saw?"

"Vaguely. Something about a vampire cop, and a lady coroner who was
trying to cure him. It was all very bizarre, but oddly compelling. The
coroner, she was that female alien we've spotted from time to time. I
think it was all an attempt to get me to trust her. But she blew it by
performing some experiment on ... DAMMIT, I can't remember!"

"Well, she failed. THAT'S what's important. Another victory for the human
race in this War."
-----

The CHALLENGE: write the last dream, where the FK dreamscape decays into
the "War of the Worlds" reality (think "Curioser and Curioser") using
the above as the "Bob-and-Emily-in-bed" closer (and maybe with a tag
showing CD's alien was not unaffected by the experience).

Those of you who refuse to be "Dark Natties" and who also saw Ger in
"Airwolf" (I never did, and know nothing about that season) could do a
similar story for Nick/(Ger's Airwolf character).

Or for the "Reese's Pieces" maybe a future Detroit police sargent dreams
of a better job in a simpler place and time.

Subject: Re: Multiple replies....

Kimberly pondered:

>the universal donor. Bloodtype O is. (is the negative/positive thing
>important?)

Very important. If a Rh negative person receives a transfusion of Rh blood,
their own blood will react to the Rh and clot. O- is the universal.

A simplification chart:

AB+ is the universal recipient for AB blood types (there are a few
ultra-rare types like M, but I don't know much about them).

So:

AB+: all types
AB-: all Rh- types
A+: A+, A-, O+, O-
A-: A-, O-
B+: B+, B-, O+, O-
B-: B-, O-
O+: O+, O-
O-: O-

Variance results in clotting, which is fatal when combined with trauma, or
other major injuries. If a clot develops and enters the brain or heart,
it's also fatal.

ObFK: Uncle, Nick, and so on are either all AB+, caused by some vampyrism
thing, or the blood is changed to a non-cltting form when those enzymes Nat
mentioned hit it (Stranger Than Fiction), or something in bringing across
changes them so blood type is a null point.

Yes, the scientist in me is having a heyday. I'm gonna eat my mac&cheese now.

NB's b-day is 11-19-49, I believe, making him the only 46-year-old I have

I'd like to propose that the show's lean towards adult victims of vampires
(or AVOV for the acronym inclined :) ) is due to the heightened awareness of
child abuse in our society. (Sorry, didn't mean to go all serious on
y'all...) A constant diet (ehem) of chomping on children would probably have
killed ratings even faster...

Also, is any-one of the Immortal Beloved faction currently working on

This whole thread reminds me of discussions just prior to the start of the
3rd season of FK. When some people heard that Schanke and Janette would be
gone, they decided that they wouldn't like the 3rd season before the first
episode aired.

A number of people apparently have decided to dislike The Kindred before
even seeing it. Personally, I intend to watch it with an open mind. If it
succeeds, it can only benefit FK and increase the probability that it will
come back as either a new season or movies.

The schedule I have shows the pilot Tuesday night and the first episode on
Wednesday night. I'm going to tape them both. If they turn out to be
"stinkers" then I will simply tape over them. I have the technology.

Subject: P.N.Elrod's dedication

I just got done reading "Dance of Death," the fourth in Patricia Elrod's
series about the vampire Jonathan Barrett (brought across during America's
Revolutionary War).

What does this have to do with Forever Knight? Well, for starters, the
dedication. Among others, Elrod a very special thanks to:

"Nigel Bennett, Deborah Duch=EAne, and the great gang at Dead of Winter II
for the dose of totally wonderful fun"

In addition, the cover art depicts a female vampire with an uncanny
resemblance to our own Janette.

This volume was published just last month, and may not be at your
bookseller yet. I strongly suggest, though, if you're going to read it,
that you read all four books. They are, in sequence: "Red Death" "Death and
the Maiden" "Death Masque" and "Dance of Death."

If anyone in the San Francisco area wants to borrow my copies of the
foursome, just contact me via email.

This is the same author who brought us Jack Fleming, another good-guy
vampire, who inhabits Chicago during the days of the crime bosses.

Good thought. In strict FK terms, it would probably be the one who gives
the blood (which ep was it where Nick drained a woman and Lacroix brought
her across?). But it seems to me that it would be both. A non-FK example
is _Interview With the Vampire_. Lestat (whom I keep wanting to call Uncle
Junior for some reason) calls Claudia "our child" (to Louis), since Louis
was the one who drained her, but Lestat gave her his blood. In a symbolic
way, this would make Lestat the father and Louis the mother (this could
easily be brought across to LaCroix and Nick's example, pun intended).
Where was it ever stated that a vampyre could have only one "parent"?

Meanies fame shows just how insidious and deviously successful the plan
was.

Hand, actually an acronym, stands for "Have A Nice Day!"

You've all fallen under the HAND influence! Resistance is futile. Like it
or not, prepare to be cheerful!

What Dotti says here is only partly true. Yes, the Weekend with Ger (also
known as the Gerthering) is a GWD fan club meeting and thus is limited to
members. However, those who went last year were simply given lower
priority; they aren't excluded. IMO, every member who really wants to go
should send in an application. There may very well be places left!

And anyone who isn't a member but is thinking about it... e-mail me
off-list for the completely unofficial recruiting lecture, wholely
unsolicited by the fan club president but written by a happy club member.

The local syndication station is channel 3, WKYW, a CBS affiliate. They
show Forever Knight late Sunday/early Monday. This past week it moved up
from 2:45am to 2:05am. If you're using a VCR, set it to cover the whole
time period from about 1:30am to 4:00am because it seems to move around
unexpectedly.

Of course it's also on USA at 1am Thursday night/Friday morning and will
soon be on the Sci-Fi Channel on Monday nights at 8pm and 12midnight
(Eastern times).

So I'm new here and have been liking FK since mid way thru it's second
season...Now I am wondering where I can get copies of all the episodes for my
own personal library and so I can see some of the episodes that I have missed
and partake fully in the great conversations that go on here. I have been
told that it shouldn't cost much besides the cost of the tape and postage.
Can any of you help me out?

Also can any of the AOL users tell me how to make a "sig"? You know, those
nifty things that go at the end of an email...can AOL do that?

Thanks!

Actually, there's something pretty close in Revelation. I quote from my
parents' old Bible:

Rev. 8:1

And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about
the space of half an hour.

My logic to this: I figure, while Kindred is on, the list'll be pretty dead
for about half an hour, after which it'll explode (or at least trickle) with
discussion (the angels with trumpets, anyone?). Remember, this would be the
last sign of the APocalypse. Now, if we can just figure out the other six...

Ah, Revelation. The Horror Novel of the Bible. I need sleep.

If they've got really high Fortitude, it won't make a difference. I'd like
to sick Uncle on 'em, tho. Hmmmm... send their excuse for a Prince, along
with the pseudo-Primogen off to the Raven, maybe throw in C. Thomas Howell
for the Enforcers (he'd never survive in Masquerade, anyway, not more than a
day, and I do mean DAY). Let 'em start a brawl, maybe try to Obfuscate or
put in a little Celerity. Uncle'd have a heyday. Next night, we send Aaron
and Tori to find out what happened...

Sorry. Just finished writing an anti-Spelling story. I liked it.

First some clarification...
Those who attended the first "Weekend With Ger" ARE able to attend. However,
the first week in which registrations could be mailed in (March 15-22) was
restricted to club members who DID NOT attend the first Weekend. After
March 22, ANY member could/may register for the remaining spots.

What is "The Gerthering"/"Weekend with Ger"?
The Geraint Wyn Davies Fan Club is sponsoring a 3 day fan club get-together
with Ger. Planned activities are: Welcome party with free snack buffet and
cash bar, Club meeting, Q&A session with Ger, photo, autograph &
paparazzi opportunities, A charity auction, video room, FK/GWD related
items for sale, Sunday breakfast buffet with Ger (included in registration
fee), door prizes, raffles, etc. All profits and auction sales from the
Weekend go to Children's Hospital, Toronto.
The Weekend is limited to 100 attendees - members of the GWD fan club (no
guests of members this time) as of March 15, 1996 - only. It will be held
in Thousand Oaks, CA on June 28-30. Cost for the weekend (not including
hotel room, of course) is $48.00.

There are still a few spots open at this time (April 2) and when they are
filled a 'waiting list' will be started (in case anyone has to cancel).

For more information about the Weekend e-mail the club president at
ROSORGE@a........
Club members who have misplaced their registration form (from the l
ast newsletter) can e-mail me (ocaoin@e....... or OCaoin@a.......)
and I'll e-mail the form to you.

BTW, the GWD Fan Club has doubled in size since the first Weekend - to
over 550 members!
