Reese? Who do you guys think is the best of the three and why?

there one for each FK list? is there a relief hamster? is there a
stunt-double hamster for when the listers goes all wonkey like they did

Didn't see it mentioned but did you all get to see Kungfu: The Legend
Continues this past weekend? It was the one with NB and he plays a SWAT
Teamleader. I noticed also that the actress from Near Death, the one
scientist, was the lady who works with the bank manager (one of the
bankrobbers fell in love with her?); and another bank worker was Stan
from Ontario? in Be My Valentine. It was neat to see all those actors
from FK.
Hope you all got to see it.

Because of time constraints, I export and download all of my digests to
read offline once a day. Last night, I downloaded the largest single
package since I subscribed to the FK lists, over 300k of the silliest
stuff I have ever seen. I'm lucky: I'm on a freenet host, so it didn't
cost me anything but time. However, if this had happened later in the
month, it most certainly would have blown the top off my mailbox.
<sigh> It happens. Fortunately not too often. I'm glad I wasn't there
when it happened because, given my feverish state <ACHOO>, I probably
would have joined in wholeheartedly. As it is, there is one thought
generated by all this silliness that won't let go of me until I post it.

Well, I concur that he does usually look pretty good, however he's dressed,
and, yes, I'll put in a pitch for denim in all its glory, but I'm actually
very fond of those vests. :) I don't know -- there is something elegant,
something dependable, something... respectable... about those vests. I
think that the second-season wardrobe, for Nick, was the best of the three.
And, of course, the second-season wardrobe used ND to redeem LC's bizarre
cape THING from the night Nick came across. Nat, on the other hand, seemed
to suffer from an impaired fashion sense through much of second season -- I
really loath that green and peach outfit from BMV; maybe the crew was
lavishing all on Janette... :)

Actualy, I agree here. I find the "suggestion" of flight to be great for the
imagination. Finally seeing the first season effects, I was disappointed,
although I had been warned they weren't that good.

Well, he didn't tell her about having a master until DK, when he'd
been working there about 2 years (if Only the Lonely is meant to occur
the same year as well as season), so he doesn't reveal things very
quickly. But I get the impression Nat doesn't want to know. She is
focused on the present. She wants him to be, too. In NiQ
(spoiler-protected?), when she sees evidence that he knew a prominent
figure from the past (spoiler-protected?), she seemed to roll her
eyes, like, "Here we go again." I didn't have the feeling at that
moment that she'd spent many an evening with head rested on chin
looking mesmerized and asking Nick to talk about his fascinating past.
Just my impression. I've been wondering about this lately, too.

I think all the hamsters are tired after last Saturday. The posts I am
sending to the list seem to be dropping awfully slowly...
BTW, I like Stonetree the best. More stories were written around him. Also,
he plays the accordian! :)=

I have to disagree there. I like the vests, a little TOO much. They remind
me of late 1700's to Victorian clothing (pantpantdrooooooool). It adds to
the mystique and gives you more to, um, FORGET about. Think about it: black
or charcoal silk shirt, black wool vest (slim cut), black slacks (slim cut,
too). <shudder> Uh, Dotti, are you gonna be out of the shower for a while? <g>

All right, I'm feeling like the Sci-Fi Channel people and it's a bit
embarrassing... Sandra informs me that the numerical order of the
second-season episodes bears no resemblance to the order in which they
aired/occurred. "Crazy Love," for example, is second-season's #13, but it
was the finale...? I was just skipping around from website to website on our
server's new software, and I couldn't find an episode guide that didn't have
them in numerical order. Continuity freak that I am, I'd really like to know
the proper order. I'm also curious as to *why* the numbers don't match...
And, as long as I'm reverting to overt newbiehood, will someone please tell
me whether there are CAN versions of both the first two seasons, or just the
first? Private email would be good, no need to waste bandwidth... Thanks.

Tucson for *years* and they keep putting us off by saying 'we'll add your

After having read Jon Cassar's AOL chat log(Thanks Marcia), I realized
how much I had missed in C & C, my first half dozen times around. So I
went back and decided to see what I could find from Alice in Wonderland
or Through The Looking Glass. These are the ones I found, they are just
guesses as it has been at least a decade since I last saw Alice In
Wonderland. I want to know if anybody else can add to or amend this list,
so I can see what else I missed.

Now I have to speak out on this topic. First let me run a disclaimer. I grew
up Baptist (protestant) and my parents are southern. I went to a private
school all my life. Everything I say is *my* opinion on this topic. So if
people disagree fine, but don't bombard me with private emails talking about
how I'm wrong.
Nick getting baptized would do absolutely no good. First off this guy is 800
years old. Christianity is for one lifetime. He has lived how many lifetimes?
It just would not work. It's like cutting your finger off and taping it back
together.
He has racked up soo much bad *karma* or bad deeds that he has to do
something to make up for it. (hence becoming a cop, not killing anymore)
Remember the scene in Near Death when he meets LC or the guide who asks him
can he bring back the dead that he had killed? He tells him of course not.
Then it leads to the conclusion that pretty much if he did crossover into
the light he would go to hell. (because he hasn't made up for those bad deeds)
He is also a vampire! The church does not believe in Vampires. They believe
that they are creatures from hell and are Satanic beings.

Yes, dependable, respectable, *staid*, *conservative*, *BORING*.
Well, actually I don't hate vests on a normal basis, but *EVERY
BLOODY SHOW*? And you gotta admit a few of those vests wern't
exactly...fashionable. Or if they *were* fashionable, where the
heck are they fashionable?
Actually, some of them weren't bad. I just got so tired of seeing
him in them so much! I liked Nick's clothes in first season and
I'm glad they brought some of those back for third season (they
could lose some of those long shirts worn out though).
I mean, geez, the guy wears a t-shirt, a regular shirt, a vest, a
jacket, a *coat*. Modesty is one thing and there may be something
to be said about "peeling back the layers" ;), but he *never
peeled any of them back*. And we didn't even seen him in his
pajamas in second season did we? He *covered them up* with that
red brocade robe! Not even any *bare feet*!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's a wonder he was even shown in the ND "nightie". My gosh, at
the rate he was going, he'd have been in monk's robes or
contamination suits by 2010!!!!
Sorry... :) And I agree, Nat's wardrobe mostly sucked. Janette,
though, looked great (they finally got her out of basic black)
and even LC looked stylish (this season he looks ordinary).
Although I gotta admit a fondness for the Q-tip style of first
season for him too. :)

Good question. It's impossible for Nick to have told her everything that's
happened to him over the past 800 years, there's just not enough time. We
do know of several things he's told her, but because he is so guilt ridden
about so many things I am sure there's volumes he just doesn't mention.
I don't think his cure relies on anything he hasn't told her, it's not as if
she has the power to cleanse his soul or asuage his guilt. His redemption,
in his eyes, is becoming mortal and nothing else. Her listening to his past
and patting his hand and saying "there, there honey, it's okay" is not going
to help him come back across. It might make him feel a little better (but
knowing Nickie probably not) but that's about all.

I always liked Stonetree - he was the only one that acted like the
real thing, but...I have an admitted fondness for Amanda Cohen. Seeing her
in Curiouser an Curiouser really made me wonder why TPTB hadn't used her
more often than to just bark at Nick and Schanke about being on time and
their reports. Her role could have been beefed up to no end -OTOH -
imagine if Amanda Cohen knew the truth about Nick?

Good question - no, I don't remember seeing anything like that. I think
Stonetree is the typical police captain, very much like the kind of police
captains you see in other shows - the kind that doesn't show much in the way
of emotion and caring towards his officers until the fur starts flying (1966
- take care of the family first)
I didn't like Cohen at all - sorry. She sounded like Johnny One Note and she
bored me to tears......
Now Reese is my favorie coz he's just too cool. He's a good police captain
type, he knows his business and doesn't wait around for his officers to do
it all if he smells a real good lead (Dead of Night -Well I did and no phone
calls were made from her car phone.....) and he obviously has a great sense
of humor and a sense of caring for his officers. I really, really liked
him. Too bad he didn't get at least ONE more season....

And where are you from, Dotti? We do this in Detroit during the 7th
inning stretch at the Tigers games. (significant Polish population
here, ya know). Picture this:
Repetitive Polka music, and everyone standing.
First, 4 repeats of arms bent at elbows, with your wrists bent
forward, moving your fingers and thumbs towards each other (chicken
beak)
Then 4 repeats of hands in armpits, flapping (chicken wings)
Then wiggling your butt as you squat down and rise (laying an egg?)
Then stand in place and clap 4 times.
It's a scary sight...

As a bodybuilder, I'd like to suggest that all those clothes are meant
to hid SOMETHING, because if he was buffed to the max I think the
producers would probably have him walking around Toronto in skin-tight
jeans and a tight white t-shirt.
On the other hand, I don't think Ger is like, fat or anything. My assessment
is that he's soft--doesn't work out--has a little tummy (teddy-bear tummies
are so cute, though, aren't they?) but looks good in clothes. Heck, I
wouldn't mind him without any either.
As one of my New York friends says, "I wouldn't kick him outta bed for
eating crackers, mind you".

Sorry, couldn't resist. :) About the change in the flying effects,
there's more than one reason.
First, Ger admits he's afraid of heights. He claims that when they did
shots of him in a harness, flying, " I looked like a guppy." (For the
person who asked yesterday, that should convince you that Geraint Wyn
Davies in person is anything but pompous in person. <g>)
Ger also said at his Toronto Trek appearance, that he couldn't understand
why people weren't hanging out of windows staring as Nick flies by.
For the second season, the producers decided that the blurred take-off
and landing effects were better looking.
Personally I agree, because I think Ger had a point about the first
season shots where you saw the characters flying in long shot. It did
look like a disoriented fish. :)

Ahm, if I remember correctly, Baptists don't bless items the way Catholics
do, and certainly the Protestant denominations don't use Holy Water.
I was brought up a Presbyterian and am now an Episcopalian. Episcopalians
are sometimes called "Catholics who flunked Latin" :), but even we
don't have Holy Water.
My Baptist father (not a minister, but any Christian can Baptize in
an emergency, a fact which is true but little known even in Catholicism)
actually baptized a couple of members of his amphibious unit in the
Mediterranean during World War II.
So Nick would not react to the water of Baptism if he'd gone so far
as to decide to become a Baptist.
