Subject: Sundry Matters -- Th' Nanette Special

        Gang:
I'll not waste bandwidth with niceties. Just business.

        1. Count me in on the Kindred/FK crossover. I've got some *nice*
ideas of how Uncle can make lunch out of some of the Kindred vamps. I'd
like some information from some hardcore White Wolf gamers on the whole
concept of the Masquerade, the Clans, and the other Paths. Thanks and
'nuff said on that.
        2. IMHO, the Raven/ettes aren't evil, as has been opined. They just
do what they want -- in a word (that has already been used) amoral. There
is a huge difference between evil and amoral.
        3. UK's getting stuff in their eps that neither US or Canada did?!
Not fair! *Waaaah!* :(
        4. The Nick/LC F(r)action should be the Pinky and the Brainiacs, or
some variant thereof. I like the show, but the comparison is just too much.
It hits home -- Nick is somewhat like Pinky: mentally maladjusted (at least,
he is in the eyes of other vamps). And LC, like Brain, is a megalomaniac,
although to a lesser degree.
        5. If anyone is interested in having their stories archived in a
short story collection that I am working on, please e-mail me privately.
I will discuss it more in detail with you.
        6. Someone PLEASE get back to me on this Hand thing. I'm dying to
know what the heck is going on with this.
        7. Would anyone be interested in the Nanette FAQ? I've been toying
around with one, and who knows? You too might be a Nanette, and not know
it. <g>
8 (and lastly). I say it here and in public, in front of all of you.
Jamie *is* the Web Goddess. I have seen her work, and it is truly an awesome
sight to behold. Prepare yourselves to bow down to her majesty <g>. I've al-
ready sacrificed virtual cigarettes and high-caffeine-content coffee to her.

Subject: Sweet Revenge/EC Faq/and Hair

Hey all,
Just a quick note to let everyone know about my first zine publishing
venture. It's called SWEET REVENGE and will feature, NK, LC and other
FK people fighting to save their favorite TV show, Eternal Champion!

If anyone wants to write a story for this zine, mail me privately and
I'll send you the EC faq (yes, I *did* write a faq for a show that
doesn't even exist, and your point would be?). Or, if you just want the
faq to see why this might be Nick's favorite TV show. ;)

If anyone wants to buy a copy, email me privately and I'll send more
info. Proceeds go to 2 good causes: 1. A Last Knight party in Dallas.
2. The Pediatric AIDS Foundation.

Why buy a copy? Because there will be things in here you won't see on
FKFIC. ;) Like Rosebud's private email as he discusses EC. Or the
conclusion to NK's and LC's war with the TV execs in my final EC story.
It won't be posted to FKfic for several months. Muahaha!

ObFK: When did Uncle's hair go from screaming punk platinum to the
darker shade we see today? Was it quick and sudden, and without
explanation? (IE, "I am far too old and powerful to have this hair
do!") Or did it happen in five easy minutes a day with natural looking
results?

Subject: Phone call from Tom Olson

VERY INTERESTING ! When I got home from work today, there was a very nice
message on my answering machine from Tom Olson, the
National Sales Manager
of the Sci=Fi Channel (he introduced himself by that title). He was
calling in response to a Save Forever Knight snail-mail letter that I
sent him last week. Here is what he said:

-He explained that the Sci=Fi Channel has taken over F.K. from the USA Channel
(which we already know - that's why we are writing the letters!)

-He said that there would be "more original episodes", and that they would air
on Monday nights at 9:00 p.m., eastern time.

-He said he hoped my local cable company would be carrying the Sci=Fi channel,
so that I could continue watching F.K. (Unfortunately, my cable co. does not
carry Sci=Fi, but I intend to keep bugging them, as are several of my
  friends.)

-He thanked me for writing, said he hoped I would continue to be a fan, and said
that if I had other questions or comments, to call him at his New York number:
  000-000-0000.

-I haven't seen any other postings recently where someone has gotten a phone
call from one of the Big-Wigs, so I was mighty surprised by this!

-I'm not sure that he intended for the New York number to be "published" on a
mailing list, but I have done so anyway. I just ask that calls made to the
above number not be abused or used to communicate in an inconsiderate way.
I thank you very much, in advance, for your observance of my request!

-I will continue to send snail-mail to all of the "folks in charge", especially
since we do still have those last 3 or 4 episodes left to go. Who knows?
Let's not give up just yet!

  See ya! Lisa M.

I like them all. :) I don't think LC has a wasted line anywhere in this

I suppose everyone on fkspoilr already knows this, but as "Fever" just

Anyway, I told the guy that I wanted to order a CD but

"How'd you know?" I asked.

"We get at least 20 calls a day for that," he said.

Wow! I'm impressed with all of you. Fred Mollin should
be very happy--his CD is going to sell quite well.

BTW, the operator said they should be going out by the

I think part of it is the frustration that she loves him and they can't do
anything about it until she either finds a cure, convinces him to try
Janette's cure, or to bring her across.

Another part of her crankiness may be because her knee may be acting up
again. All that squatting at crime scenes and then standing to do the
autopsy can be hard on the knees. I know that when my knee hurts I'm likely
to be more cranky than usual.

They're out there...somewhere. Hiding, waiting to see who'll discover

Thanks to Beth, who pointed me in the direction of the episode
transcripts on the fiction site, I have the text from Natalie's notebook.
Since I know there's at least one other person looking for it, here it is:

----
Est. shot of coronor's building with sign.
Nick pushes open door to Nat's lab strolling in, pauses in
doorway as he sees it's dark and empty. Nick swings door shut
behind him, walks in, looks around idly Only light is from a
sickly green fluorescent above a counter and the swing-arm lamp
over Nat's desk. Nick walks past the examining table, running
a hand along its edge. He wanders over to Nat's desk, sits down,
looks like Now what? Leafs through papers. Pauses, frowns.
Moves a manilla folder aside, revealing a black lab notebook.
Picks it up, opens it, flips a page. Chemical formulae, a
graph, notes.
Close-up on a page - neat block letters:
SIMULATES BLOOD PLASMA AUG 4, 1991
     NICK WAS UNABLE TO INGEST...
     NOTE: TRY INCREASING SYNTHETIC LIPIDS.
Nick looks worried, surprised, hurt, confused, especially worried.
Clasps hands, hugs arms against himself.

Hi all,
Just my .02 on Nick & Nat. Concerning Nat's role in Nick's quest to redeem
himself, a line from the finale of Le Mis keeps coming to mind "....to
love another person is to see the face of God." Niether of them have come
to terms with her role, but I think Nat is a little more aware than Nick
at this point. I think her frustration comes, in part, from this slightly
deeper understanding of what the "cure" really is.

I didn't subscribe to THIS mailing list until January this year, so I
don't know what was posted last fall. I should have figured it out,
though, when nobody was talking about it so close to the date. But WHY
then was the PotK webpage up until February (or at least late January)
when I added it to my Bookmark file?

To Alora: POTK = "Prisoners of the Knight", a convention that was SUPPOSED
to be held in Toronto this weekend.

While not present on the day in question, I have attended other tours
hosted by the much-maligned Will Steeves, and I can attest that he
always showed himself attentive to the wishes of his out-of-town
guests, a veritable treasure-trove of arcane Toronto geographical
information, and (despite the occasional elegant hand gesture) a
conscientious and responsible driver. I don't understand why what
might have been quite a merry e-mail piece on the misadventures of a
day when, through no-one's fault, things didn't go quite right, has
been turned into a personal and malodorous attack on a decent man.

There's a saying, "Begin as you want things to end"... or something like
that, you get the gist <G>. If there's one thing I've learned from my
experiences with men, it's that if I have a problem in a relationship, it
will almost always lie in my peacekeeping tendencies, when I decide not to
make a fuss over poor behavior in "my" men in the beginning, letting them
Peter Pan their way through life and our relationships--- *until*, as
(invariably) happens, they start taking me for granted.

Then my hackles rise, I start cracking down and being more (though not
unreasonably so) demanding, and the things that didn't bother me so much in
the beginning, such as their drinking habits or casual flirtations with other
women, begin to bug the hell out of me, and I can't stand keeping my mouth
shut any longer. But it's always rooted in my laissez-faire attitude at the
beginning, when things are mildly annoying but not worth it to me to cause a
dust-up over, so as a result I permit a lot of behavior that is borderline
irritating, but not worth a fight.

Which, I suppose, again proves the theory that we all bring our own baggage
to interpretation of what we see on screen <VBG>. Perhaps Nat, too, is only
_now_ starting to regret letting Nick play fast and loose with the boundaries
of his cure regimen, etc., and wishing she'd cracked the whip more at the
beginning so it wouldn't seem so all-fired unusually preachy to Nick now?

OK, this is almost a "me, too" post, but that's how I've _always_
categorized the vampires on FK: LC=immoral/_evil_ (does rotten things just
'cause they're fun), Janette=amoral (does whatever's best for Janette),
Nick=moral (sometimes does rotten things, but angsts about them
afterwards). I missed this in 3rd ssn: poor old Lu wasn't evil enough
anymore, Nat was harassing Nick to behave like a nice human being, and Nick
was just waffling (not to mention an ep which might still be spoiler
protected). There were some good eps, but the underlying thread was
missing.

OTOH, while Ravenettes/Janette might not be "immoral", they might still
_do_ evil (ie: harmful) stuff or, more often, get someone to do it for them
(how _do_ they manage that anyway?)

Hi ALl,
I have a question. In "Only the LonEly" Nick didn't have anything to
get Nat for her birthday, so why didn't he buy a ring or something instead
of flowers? I mean, he has money coming out of his Kuzoo...Or why didn't he
give her his Black Budda thing with all the dimonds in it? I mean, if _I_
forgot to get a birthday present for someone who could easyly come into my
house in the day and ram a stake though my heart, i would go buy something
nice, ya know?
Also, I had this fliped out dream last night, I was watching FK, but
it was called "Tracy and Her Vamp Friends" The theme song was the theme song
to the carebears, but it was sung by Kenny G. It Looked the same, though,
execpt that tracy was bald. I need sleep, but i'm kinda afraid to go back
to bed, if you get what i mean.
I saw "Fever" last week. It just sucked! I will not go into detales,
because i'm not sure if it is off spoliers yet, but who ever wrote that
should be shot.

Hi everyone! It's me again, everyone was so good in answering my questions I
thought I'd try it again.

1) I now know (thanks to you all) what Jadfe is. Now how do I get it?
2) Could someone send me "Interview with the Nightcrawler"?
3) I know that it was just posted a few days ago, but could some one send me
some general guide line for writing Fan-Fic. I just thought of an almost
intersting idea and want to inflect it on you all, and thought you might as well
get it in a readable format.

  Well that's it for now.

Airwolf was airing on WWOR -- the superstation -- not WOR in NYC.
Unfortunately, we're not back to the episodes with Jan Michael Vincent. I
taped most of the ones with Ger, but the quality of the transmission was
marginal. Lots of times it looked like the film wasn't threading correctly
and it jumped around a lot. Hope this helps.

Subject: I'm mad as heck

And why, you may ask?

Am I the only person in the whole country whose syndicated station keeps
jerking them around like this? In the past *five* weeks, FK has been
preempted *three* times on my local. And now I'm hopping mad.

The small contingent (five that I know of, no telling how many may have
gotten reached by flyers) I was able to get together in this area has more
than made their presence known. Even with the upheaval of the general
manager's death, imo there is no excuse for this behavior. The **more** we
write and call, the more cavalier their scheduling becomes.

When it was "Fever", they made up some excuse about not receiving it via the
NBC satellite feed. Now, when they're in reruns of FK, I wonder what their
excuse will be when I call next? Two "National Geographic on Assignment"
episodes, and one fifties movie this past week. Very creative, but surely
not on the network head honcho's "must-air" lists, no??

I keep wondering whether this has to do with FK's cancellation. Is *anyone*
else registering unusual blips and blurps in their syndie's handling of FK?
Quirks or vicissitudes like chopping off the beginning or the ending,
starting early or late, or unexpected preemptions? The timing of this really
smells fishy. I haven't been watching FK the longest, but I never remember
things like this happening the middle of second season, when I signed on.
The worst they ever did was postpone the rerun of PotM for half an hour.
Then all of a sudden, the show gets cancelled, and we have scheduling
problems. Hmmm.... You'd wonder, wouldn't you?

Subject: Nick and Janette/Nat & LC

Pardon my tardiness for jumping in on this discussion, but major problems on
my computer this past week dictated the purchase of a new machine and
subsequent transfer of files. A little delay!

From: LC Fenster <lucienlc@i.......>

>>And in my opinion, there is far more sexual tension and electricity
between LC and Nat in that episode than there is in any and all
episodes between Nick and Nat.<<

Absolutely, and while we're on the subject, the sexual tension between Nick
and Janette in so many episodes cannot be dismissed! We're talking chemistry
here, and history, certainly electricity! After seeing so many scenes between
these two and then to claim Nick and *Nat* are soulmates, uh, uh. No way.

Speaking of Nat and LC again, I still maintain that their interaction is the
biggest untapped potential of the show!

>>Imo, what Nick says to LaCroix at the end of BMV about using Nat is the
truth. Nick thinks he's only fobbing LC off with an excuse, but LC
knows it's truer than Nick thinks from the bond between them and that's
why he leaves Nat alone.<<

Insightful, Laurie, and although I always believed Nick, my thinking is turning
more and more this way as I work on my current story! I can well believe now
that LC knows Nick far better than Nick himself does.

Vicki Merriman - >vmerrima@i.......< wrote:

>>It just doesn't seem to me as if he really,
truly cares about her. He's too focused on his own angst and the
"glorious attainment of mortality" redemntion objective to really be able
to put anything into a relationship.<<

Well, I wouldn't say there's NOTHING between them. But what they do have, I
do not think is lasting, nor do I think it's particularly good for either of
them. I think we're clearly talking about Unwellness Love here! And by the
way, if Nick has "been a bitch" to Nat this season, I can't say she's exactly
been an angel, either! In fact I've gone off Nat completely this season because
of her ragging on Nick (regardless of whether he needed the ragging or not,
this is NOT healthy in a relationship!).

Of course, as a Dark Knightie, I believe Nick isn't really interesting in
mortality nearly as much as he's interested in redemption. And Nick isn't
facing facts in this at all - according to what he learned in the near death
experience ("Near Death") he has a LOT of atoning to do. Why would he think
he could achieve that as a mortal? There's no way he'd likely have TIME to
atone as much as he feels he needs to!

>>Also, I think Nat is more than a little focused on him as a science
project, rather than him as a man.<<

Oh, no, I believe Nat is definitely attracted to him as a man, though the
science project is part of the package for sure.

All in all, I would not deny that Nick has feelings for Nat. That much is
obvious (LNMTA). But I do doubt that they have any future whatsoever. Nick
is far too caught up in himself and his own problems, which I think is
understandable considering what his life has been like. I'd like to see Nick
accept the obvious and work to fit his moral principles into his vampirehood
better, and I'd like Nat to drop Nick like a hot potato and get a man she
deserves who will be good to and for her. Don't get me wrong, I do love Nick,
but I don't think Natalie Lambert is the answer to his dreams and he certainly
isn't the answer for her.

Oh, and while I m on it, regarding Sandra Gray s post on 3/22:
Right on, Sandra! I wish I could say stuff as well as you do. But I like
what you say!

Regarding Nat and LC - I explore their possibility a lot in "Transitions" which
I should be ready to post in a couple weeks if all goes well. Besides exploring
how Nat might accept something of a relationship with one such as LC, I also
explore how LC would rise to the occasion to actually be good for her (hey, I
think he can do whatever he wants, even be good!) And of course interesting
is how Nick handles all this! But then, he's, ah, back with Janette big
time... ;D
