I just got my copy of the Sony letter; is it just me, or does it read exactly
like a "Dear Applicant: We regret to inform you that you were not chosen for
this position..." form letter?

You know, "while your qualifications were impressive blah blah, we were
forced to make a difficult decision blah blah, we will keep your resume on
file blah blah blah, have a nice life, and don't hit your elbow on the way
out the door." As in:

"Dear Fan X,
Thank you for your recent submission regarding Forever Knight. While your
efforts were impressive, we must regretfully inform you that they do not meet
our current needs. We will keep your information on file for the next six
months. Thank you for considering Sony. Please keep watching, and we wish
you luck in your future endeavors.

I agree. It seems so much more dignified to watch FK on the SciFi channel
than on USA, where they appeal to the lowest common intelligence. SciFi,
though owned by USA, seems to have more respect than its parent company IMO,
and I will be able to hold my head high when I tell people on what channel I

including the POTK convention
Forever Knight [mtu.edu]
Forever Knight [sony.com]

Regarding this thread, and the fact that Laurie doesn't think Nick feels love
for Natalie - "Human Factor" is still under spoiler protection (BOY DO I KNOW
THAT!!), but if you think of a line that Nick says to Nat at the end, regarding
the possibility of a way to mortality and what could be done in that direction,
and the look on his face as he discusses it with her - since we know what had
to be in place for it even to begin to work - it's obvious he does loves her or
he wouldn't have bothered to mention it in the first place - in my opinion
ofcourse. If I've confused anyone privately email me, but it really seemed to
me he was saying "I love you too much to even try this".

Check with NYNEX. Out in Queens, we have an option wherein each call = a
flat-rate drop fee of 10-20 cents. Iow, six hours online costs the same as
six minutes. An extremely useful thing. This is called "message rate
service"; this is what you want.

In this way, my 24-hours-per-day online only costs me $20-30/month. :-)

>*before* USA ever got involved, but...)?

Not exactly. I believe that in addition to the foregoing fund sources,
FK production received money from the Ontario Film Commission (?) or
some governmental body like that, and that money got cut back.

In addition to which, a year ago January, when TriStar went to sell a
third season in syndication at NATPE, it only received clearances
(meaning stations that agreed to show FK) in about 50% of the country.
Since the way ratings are calculated, that level of clearance meant
that FK could not possibly attract advertisers, something else had to
be done. Hence USA Network.

HOWEVER -- it has been suspected by us conspiracists <g> that USA never
intended to follow through on its deal to buy an entire third season.
A syndicated station generally requires that there be 70 episodes of a
program before it considers purchasing said program for syndication. A
cable network does not. Hence some of us posited at the time of the
USA pullout that perhaps USA invested in FK long enough to reach *its*
own magic syndie number, and then cut the money off, hoping that
TriStar would immediately cancel the rest of third season. If that
happened, USA would not have any competition when it sought to buy FK
reruns for future syndication, since without 70 episodes, local
stations would not be interested. TriStar screwed them back, though,
by finishing the season and reaching the magic 70. And since from what
we're hearing, USA is going to air the rest of the third season after
all, I think you can assume a subsequent deal between USA and TriStar
was reached on that. (As part of the original USA/TS deal, USA had
already received the right to broadcast first and second season for
their initial syndication run.)

And, while we're talking about the *crimes* of Kay Koplovitz, let's not
forget the following: dumping Janette, dumping Captain Cohen, possibly
impacting on John K's decision to leave, inflicting t&a sleeze and
"Let's get naked!" on us, LaCroix Lite, and Tracy Vetter.

Adult topic stories *must* have a subject line that begins adult:. Putting

"legal considerations?" I agree. Its a crock. Usually corporations are

:the Meatloaf song: "I want you, I need you, there aint no way I'm ever

I keep thinking back to the scene in LNMTA where Nick storms in where they
are preparing to extract Natalie's heart. He had this protective "If you
die, I'll die" look on his face. He was also laying his head over hers and
encircling her with his arms (while still trying to keep a gun on the people
against the wall) in a way that I can't help but interpret as love. I just
can't see someone doing it for mere "I want you, I need you". It just seemed
to go way beyond that.

Some of the food (such as the popcorn for Nat) comes from the eps and
some of it comes from the wars, I think.

After having heard so much about the wretchedness of Ribena, I was
surprised to find that I liked it. I wouldn't want to drink tons of it,
and suspect that the actors problem with it is they have to drink and
drink it in retake after retake. That could be a problem, but the stuff
itself is tasty.

The only caveat is that I had a rather nasty cough at the time and
perhaps wasn't quite up to snuff. However, overall, Ribena is perfectly
decent, albeit sweet, stuff.

Now that's the best reason I've heard of yet. Actually, I'm real luke
warm on the Nick/Nat issue. It just doesn't seem to me as if he really,
truly cares about her. He's too focused on his own angst and the
"glorious attainment of mortality" redemntion objective to really be able
to put anything into a relationship.

Also, I think Nat is more than a little focused on him as a science
project, rather than him as a man.

Here I disagree. Nick has been immortal for so long, that he doesn't think
twice that his immortality has kept him alive in so many police
situations, that had he been mortal he would have surely died. I can
honestly see that if Nick did become mortal his instincts to help people
in the same situations as before, the instinct would come before the: "I
can't do that and still come out alive" thinking. He's relied on Nat so
many times to "patch him up" after being shot. I think he'd need her a
hell of a lot more once he became mortal, if only to remind him that he's
not an immortal anymore, and to be careful.

Kira has informed me that in addition to the black t-shirts, she has just
completed a white one as well. The white ones have the FK logo on the

ones don't have pockets, but the faction can still be put on the front.

And remember to give me the size.

And if there are any special orders, let me know. We're pretty flexible

From: April Ruskin <aruskin@e.......>
Subject: Vampire movie (long)

<Yes, I am going to talk about FK *somewhere* in this mess.>

There was a sale on previously viewed tapes at one of my local video rental
stores, and guess what I found... an movie whose title is "Vampire Cop". Well,
I had to get it, and man it was _terrible_. It was poorly taped, had _bad_
acting, bad lighting (_spotlights_ in a parking lot! at night!) Special effects
were terrible. The fangs looked fake and the vampire's mouth bulged when the
teeth were in. There was a lot of posing and stock footage, choppy dialogue,
gunshots unrealistic. They even had the 'heavy breathing cam' (the camera
where all we hear is heavy breathing and a heartbeat) which of course was never
used for a vampire's point of view. This movie is rated R for language,
violence, nudity, and sexual content. If the sexual content was taken out,
the movie would be no more than 45 minutes (it's 1 hour 28 minutes).

OK, if you really want to know more: The vampire cop, William Lucas, is about
100 years old, has a southern accent, and is on the vice squad. When he gets
shot, there's no blood or no holes where he got shot, and, get this, he sleeps
*upside down*. (he also watches t.v. that way.) He is on the trail of a
pimp/drug dealer, and during a bust, his partner is killed. According to what
I saw, Lucas got his meals from criminals (he stops one guy from raping a girl,
then 'drinks him dry'), and prostitutes. 30 minutes into the movie, Lucas has
said no more than 4 lines. The heroine of the movie [who is one of those
fluffy headed beauties (No, her name isn't Tracy, even though one of the
supporting cast is named Traci)], is a tv reporter named Melonie Roberts. Her
big stories in the past include "Trans-sexual housepets" and "New fashions for
cross-dressers". Wow, deep woman. Drug dealer bitten by Lucas, becomes vampire
and bites Melonie. Then Melonie shoves him into the sunlight, and of course,
she has to run out and watch him burn to a crisp (it was so fake). Later on,
we see that Melonie got turned into a vampire when she bites the anchorman
on her tv news show.

This movie looks like it ripped FK off (my personal opinion), and here's my
arguements:
1)Movie shows scenes of city while sun goes up and down.
2)Lucas is in angst city: "I didn't ask to be a vampire, and I can't help what I
am. But at least this way I can rationalize that I'm helping society"
(paraphrase). I rolled my eyes when he said that.

There was one good line in the movie that I'd like to share if ya'll let me (You
will? Wow, you're so generous!). When the drug dealer found out that Lucas was
a vampire and confronted him (holding the 'heroine' at gun point I might add),
the drug dealer said "That's a nasty overbite you have." I think that was the
only good part of the movie.

Looks like I wasted $7.00. <Sigh> Oh, well.

I was watching the episode on Fox last Friday...I can't remember the
name off the top of my head...but it was the one where Nat goes for
knee surgery and the doctor really wants to transplant her heart..
Anyway, I saw this one before and I am a reletively new
watcher(FINALLY someone (USA) started showing the show in this area)
Anyway..to get to the point does Tracy know Vachon is a vampire?/
I got the impression she does when she was asking him for information.
But I thought she doesn't believe in vampires....
I know she has no clue that Nick is a Vampire.
By the way...what kind of doctor does Nat see that wants to schedule
surgery for the middle of the night?? remember Nick was supposed to
pick her up AFTER his shift.....

THanks,

Lisa
...who now is completely hooked on FK...and the cable company won't
carry the SciFi channel (but we NEED 3 shopping channels) :(
