Nick and Nat belong together because they're soulmates. Two pieces from the same puzzle. They understand each other's pain, share the same flaws and strengths, and just plain *need* each other. So there! <g> And if that didn't convince ya, Bonnie, <shrugs> so be it. :-) ObBugCeleste: Look, a whole *row* of smileys! :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) On the "intellectual" N&N vs. "hot" T&V pairings question... Although fanfic has treated Tracy and Vachon well, I think the main reason TPTB regarded them as the "hotter" couple was that they were supposed to be the Marketing Ploy to Reach the Desired Demographic Audience. Some of you fail to see the sparks between Nick and Nat onscreen....while I failed to see *anything* between T&V. No friendship, no intellectual connection, no body heat, *nada.* Moving right along...the janitor at work asked me why USA was showing nothing but repeats of FK lately, and I filled him in. (I've got a neon-pink Save FK flyer posted on my filing cabinet, and when he saw it back in January, he revealed himself to be a new fan. He's only seen 3rd season, and thought "Black Buddha" was the *premiere* premiere. He actually watches USA for the wrestling stuff...and tuned in to FK intially 'cause it was on afterwards.) Since Larry's very interested in the Internet, too, I took him on an impromtu tour of the SOS-FK page, wrote down the URL for him, and he said he'd check it out (he's on CompuServe.) Larry said he likes FK because even though it's a vampire show, it's really about everyday problems we can all relate to. He likes Nick because "he's got the affliction, and he's *fighting* it." Larry's favorite eps are "Blind Faith" (he said he was really touched by the ending), "Night in Question," and "Dead of Night." He also thinks LaCroix is "one cold dude" for what he did to Raleigh. Another quick work/FK note before I plunge back into the world of too much work, too little sleep, and plenty of caffeine, as pefected by Natalie Lambert...I also stuck a neon-green SOS flyer on the official bulletin board at work, where only pre-approved, work-related stuff is supposed to go--anything else usually gets pulled off immediately--and it has been there for two *months* now. No, I'm not thinking of defecting, but I was curious. I have just one thing to say. This was the most expensive d*mn web page I have ever visited. I think I spent 4 pieces of gold checking out the various links, plus one box of fine chocolates to get in there in the first place and then *another* payment, this time in jewels, when I got booted out by accident and had to log back on. Sheesh, not a very civic-minded affiliation, are they? (I just know the Mercs are all sitting at their computers nodding vigorously & proudly right now.) And then I find out that they're ultra-paranoid about Natpackers and make you sign a pledge before you can access the link to the Natpacker web page. I don't think *I'll* be wanting to hire any Mercs in the next War, whenever that may be. Three reasons: (1) I can't afford them. (2) Sneakiness and ingenuity are available within the ranks of my own faction, although I don't think we are as well-armed with virtual weapons nor as well-fed with virtual chocolates. (3) It's more fun to do your own attacking. (4) I think at least *some* Knighties have a serious score to settle with a Merc or two. The poverty-stricken and those who want to join a faction where angst abounds (but with access to a large-screen TV and other perks during the Wars), I would just like to note that access to the Knightie Home Page is *still* free. http://www.intex.net/~perridox/knight/knight.html And you can find some FK links, including links to as many affiliations as I could find, on my Obsession page: http://assets.wharton.upenn.edu/~percy91/obsess.html OK, it ain't fancy, but it's *free*! BTW, last time I checked, the mysterious Sony web page (now identified as some sort of special page made up for the "24 Hours in Cyberspace" event) is still up and running. The address: http://www.spe.sony.com/Pictures/tv/forever/fk24.html Also, Ravens/Ravenettes, look at the pretty pictures in the following directory: http://www.spe.cony.com/Pictures/tv/forever/afterdark/assets It seems that sometime last fall Sony contemplated setting up a virtual chat room called The Raven (some sort of VRML thing) but never actually got around to implementing it. What a pity! But go grab the pretty .JPGs of the Raven (including a nice one of Janette at the bar) before they disappear. I know what you're all thinking: nosy, nosy! What can I cay, I'm a Knightie and thus am completely incapable of self control. Regardless of how any others may choose to categorize me, ignoring the Natpack's blithe confidence that I have been fully assimilated, and the Mercenaries' grim certainty that I've been well and truly sucked under by the Natpack tsunami... I AM the Natpack Merc. More precisely: I transcend factions; and as this is in fact the role of the Merc, to transcend affiliations and affiliationlessness (I dare you to tell me that ain't a word!) I am more perfectly suited to that than to any other faction. Basically, I'm just letting 'em all retain their illusions because, well, the Natpack's lots of fun to hang with, and I've seen the Mercs stage a wartime rescue; I'm not missing out on being part of that. Therefore, I AM the Natpack Merc. By some measures, the first season was considered to be two short seasons. FK went on the air in 1992 with, I think, an initial order of eleven. When 11 through 22 (or 10-22 if you count the two parts of Dark Knight as one) began to air in September, TV Guide referred to it as the second season. We decided a long time ago on here that most of us thought it was only one season. However, if SONY's thinking of the first season as two, then the current season could be considered number four. 2. I think that reference to 3 newsgroups does mean us, Fkspoilr and Fkfic-l. Look carefully sometimes -- you'll find people who don't know much about the internet or who are more accustomed to Usenet saying newsgroup or discussion group all the time, when they mean mailing list. Btw, it's a great idea to ask them when we can expect this fourth season and to tell them, preferrably with names and addresses/urls, how many FK sites there really are. Schanke's a great cop - Nick just sort of - manipulates a few things here an there. I've always preferred the theory that the fangs are pushed out using muscles or something, rather than growing. Of course something should have shown up on the x-ray in NIQ. I think I can explain that though. :) The last thing they would have been looking at are his teeth, or if they did notice it, maybe they assumed it was a mistake, a birth defect, or he'd had some weird dental work. How's that? :) Oh, I forgot: we saw the x-ray too, and I think someone said you couldn't see anything like that. Um, okay...that wasn't Nick's x-ray! However, I should warn you that she's selling things to the highest bidder and she's looking for "serious" money here. The crew jacket is size extra-large, and barely worn. It's in very good condition. I should mention that she's already had an offer of $300 U.S. for it, so unless you can match or beat that price, you'd be wasting your money to contact her about it. Because she's not online I told her I'd post her notice to the list. Right now she's mainly interested in selling the crew jacket, but she will have other items for sale as well. She's working on getting together a list of everything she's decided she can part with, and when she does she'll let me know. In the meantime, if you're >seriously< interested in the crew jacket please let me know and I'll pass on her phone number to you so you can contact her directly. Also, if you think you'd be interested in anything else she might have, please let me know that as well...now...and I'll let you know when she has her list compiled. This is the only time I'll be posting this notice, so if you think you might be interested in whatever else she'll make available, you have to let me know now so I can contact you later.
