This post has nothing to do with snakes; only with terminology.

Here at FORKNI-L, we do not flame.

We prod, tease, taunt, cajole, harangue, nag, complain, and dissect every
tiny detail of FK to undeath. We attack each other with affection and with
waterguns. We scold and correct each other; we tear each other's theories
to shreds; we remind each other of list rules, sometimes strongly. We
proofread each other's posts and fiction, we giggle and/or moan over the
show, we divide ourselves into factions and merrily pick on each other.

But we do not flame. That sort of bloodsport is reserved for other, lesser
venues of communication.

I know, I know, it's a term of speech -- but it really bugs me. We
disagree like crazy around here, but disagreement isn't flaming. If it
was, this list would have incinerated itself long ago. And there are maybe
people new to the list who don't realize that around here, "I hope I don't
get flamed for this" basically means, "I'm expressing an opinion that may
or may not be based on fact, and/or may or may not be popular, and I expect
people to disagree with me, perhaps strongly.".

And having said that, I am now going over to the closet and retrieving my
handy-dandy Mark VIII Pocket-Sized Flamethrower (geez, where was this
during the last War? I could've used it) -- "Hey, Isis! You're not a
herpetologist! Take that!" <whoosh; sizzle; pfffft!>

Kidding. I'm KIDDING! Really. I don't know nuthin' 'bout snakes, either.

You know you've been an FK asst. listowner for way too long when...

...you open up your mailbox, and behold the following subject lines in
sequence:

LIST RULES: No Spoilers
Re: Killing
Re: Dotti's Room/Videos

...and you immediately begin composing a post about how there is no
specific list rule prohibiting killing in Dotti's room, but if people want
to make videos of it, subsequent distribution and copying should take place
for the cost of tapes and postage only.

It's been a strange day. I think I'm going to go out and have something
pierced.

You hear on the news that down here in Miami there are some bizarre
murders going on. A lot of dead animals have been found with
puncture marks on them and drained of blood. I went to go see these and
immediately thought, a Carouche!!!

Subject: Questions & blooper tape

Hi, all. Here's a few questions for history buffs and those whose brains
are like mine, which is to say full of trivia instead of useful stuff.

1. Given what we know about him, what was Vachon's likely social class and
standing when he was mortal?

2. How would men and women of his social class likely have greeted one
another when introduced for the first time? (Bows? Curtseys? Hand kisses?)
How about if he were introduced to a woman of a higher social class?

3. Does Natalie have a boss? What is his/her name and title?

4. Have Natalie and Nick's working hours ever been expressly detailed in FK
shows?

And finally: Would someone with a kind heart who also has a clean copy of
the infamous blooper tape please contact me by private e-mail? I think it
would be another good candidate for the tape tour, similar to the one the
Gemini tape is making now.

Thanks for info!

Does anyone know what the vampire's test for death is that was spoken of by
the demon as he lay on the exorcist's table?
The line went *I have revived the vampire's test for death*.

This has been bugging me since I first saw the episode. Anyone?

I like the idea of channels on the backs of the fangs to channel the blood
into the mouth and down the throat much better than the theory of hollow
teeth.

Testing, testing...this is my first post from work since the resident
computer gurus swore that they have fixed the bounced mail/delayed
mail problem. If wierd stuff happens, PLEASE let me know so I can go
chastize the appropriate coworkers and then unsub my litle self again.

Funny you should mention that particular "YKYB..." Attacks on
livestock by mountain lions are starting up again here on the West
Coast, and I was just reading an article about a whole pasture full
of goats that were all found dead, with puncture marks on their necks
and no other "damage." 'Course, the culprit was a rabid male
mountain lion, who was tracked and shot by the Dept. of Fish and
Game, but my first response was to laugh and think, "Perry!" :-)

Actually, it went, "I have revived the vampire's TASTE for death," if I
remember correctly... :)

I missed Nigel Bennett's acceptance speech. I've got most of the last
couple of weeks saved to disk, if not printed out--but am short on time to
"comb my records". Could some kind soul give me a *clue*....like the date
it was posted??

I am going to do some fanfic *and* decent (as in adequately written, not
necessarilly PG13) poetry this summer if I have time--I could get totally
lost in participating in the list(s) and etc. This is a great community.
Have I said before I'm on for life?

It was *taste*. "I have revived the vampire's taste for death." And Nick
went home and almost munched Natalie.
