I think the FK fiction story Visit from Vachon came up
with an appropriate smell for Natalie. The author wrote
that Nick thinks she smells the way his mother's herb
garden used to.

You know you've been watching too much Forever Knight and Animaniacs when...

You're reading the wrapper on a pack of Bubblicious, and when you get the
the part about the Warner-Lambert Corp., all you can think of is three Evil
Puppy Children and Our Favorite Coroner.

The scary thing is, the color of the gum is a sort of
cartooney-rotting-corpse shade of blue...

I got this one at ThunderCon (Oklahoma City) last May (my parents hate it,
but it's on MY CAR! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHahahahaha...haha...aaaaaaah). I'm
going again a couple of months (May 31, June 1&2), and if the dealer I got
it from is back, I'll check for some more.

As I recall, they had some FK buttons, too. And a SPECTACULAR portrait of
Uncle in the art room (aptly titled "Father Figure").

I'll shut up now.

It will where I'm at. D&D still has a reputation of evil in Oklahoma, and I
suspect some of the surrounding area. The Incident will be filed into the
same group as a "Gothic" murder a few months ago (two poser-Goths thought it
would be "Gothic" to try and kill two people in cold blood. Ever since,
vamps and such have been more taboo than before).

To be honest, at least some of us need to try to start some sort of campaign
to prove that vamps are not as evil as the general public believes, or this
could get way too out-of-hand. Yes, I'm a bit paranoid, but I've grown up
with an interest in vampyres and the like, and in the Bible Belt that sort
of thing is grounds for hatred (I've heard of radical Satanic groups, ie
virgin sacrifice and baby killing, being called "vampyres" in this area).
I've even had to put up with a bit of physical abuse for my interests. As
soon as the wrong people get a hold of this, it's going to snowball. I've
seen it before, and this is the type of thing that will cause it to happen
again.

If you're right, it should be possible on at least some sets. I once had
a roommate who kept insisting on rewiring the cable so that it went into
the cable box, then into the TV, then into the VCR. So if you changed
the channel on the TV, that would change the channel on the tape. It was
a very frustrating year.

Then, too, if you have a decoder *box* (which you need for earlier sets)
you ought to be able to put the box into the feed before the VCR.

you heard that right, apparely, dodge shadow bumpers can be popped on and

does anyone know where I can get these stickers replaced.

Subject: Re: USA AOL posting forwarded here earlier.

I was reading mail from last night and came across a post
about USA. It was a forward from the USA forum on AOL(?)
for Forever Knight Season 3 (those purchased so far by USA)
being shown in the SCI-FI channel.

Now, I'm not being pessimistic by choice, as I am a normally
optimistic person, BUT... Except for home-made movie specials,
I never recall having seen a presently filming series (or its
reruns) on the SCI-FI Channel. Does that mean FK is dead?

WAIT!

This means the SCI-FI channel is coming into the mainstream
with science fiction..... Maybe they want to adopt Forever
Knight as it's first debuting active show (non-cancelled/reruns).
That might explain negotiation problems with the USA networks
as well as some of the hush hush and doubt with the marketing
of the series. OR it means that the SCI-FI channel is getting
enough money/power/etc. to get newer science fiction shows...
And EVENTUALLY to make their own series (maybe even bring BACK
forever knight if it, heaven forbid, gets cancelled (except for
tv movie specials anyway)).

Imagine the logo/commercial: (closeup on GWD's face (red eyes and
large fangs) "Take a bite out of SCI-FI, with Forever KNIGHT! ...
Weeknights at 9pm EST"

Any comments, further optimism or further pessimism?

Just my two cents worth...

In ND, Nick is confronted with the true state of his soul. This, at first,
confused me, since I was under the impression that vampires forfeited their
souls when brought across (Janette: "Poor Nicola, troubled by a soul he
hasn't got.") The argument could be made that Nick's ND experience was just
that, experiential. Situational ethics would then apply. In his mind, his
choice of vampirism has twisted and darkened his soul (he still possesses
one) and he must continue to attone until he feels that his soul is in good
enough shape the make into some 'good' place in the afterlife. Now I realize
that this sounds much more religious than most views. But, in reality, every
POV that encompasses world view has a religious component. How we view our
souls (or lack there of) is an intricate part of how we view everything else.
We are, after all, rather egocentric, aren't we? We can't help it really.

I see Nick's POV to be rather forward thinking while maybe just a liitle too
introspective. Angst aside. He does not see vampires as souless. Just damned.

Anyway, as always, consider the source.

Proud Knightie

I couldn't appreciate your efforts more! I came on line last month to argue
with Bill Maher (politically incorrect on ComedyCentral) and discovered your
web site sometime thereafter. I switched to AOL (ex-comp) last week and
have been immersed in the Forever Knight Universe ever since. I'm the only one
I know who watches, I haven't missed an episode since first veiwing the re-run
of "Fathers Day," Bouncing about the FK Universe, chatting with the cousins,
reading all the amazingly wonderful FanFic, ordering T-Shirts and Novellettes
wouldn't have happened for me without people like you who are so unselfishly
dedicated to the show.

I hope AOL will sponsor the show, and Advertise one of the web sites, prefferably
yours. I know I for one would have gone on line after digesting my first
delicious ep. I'm *really* pissed that I've missed so much interaction with
all you guys.

Happy to be one with the Knight (Universe) at last.

Is there some reason to avoid a religious view? It seems to me that
Nick's world view *must* be primarily a medieval Catholic one - he
doesn't seem to have much ability to change with the times - I think he
has a good camouflage thing going, but that deep down, he's still got the
religion he grew up with.

Unless FKSOS is successful, FK will have only 4 more (already filmed, filming

movie" rumors will come true.

They are doing this to FK in the same way they did it to TekWar.

I'm not absolutely positive, but I think there are a few species of snakes
that have partially retractable fangs. Like the King Cobra. But I could
be wrong. Any snake experts feel like backing me up or flaming me all to

Subject: SOSFK: USA is just trying to make itself look good...

On Mar 14, 1996 08:51:31, 'June Russell <Kat@g.......>' wrote:

I got an e-mail recently from the guy (Justin Ware) who interviewed me,
congratulating us on having 'won', as per the word he got from USA; and
though I have not heard back from him w/a clarification, I have to assume
that this refers to the airing of the past eps on SciFi.

Which means, basically, that USA is going around telling people that "due
to the overwhelming demand for FK, we are magnanimously going to air this
show!"

Which is a crock, because we knew back in December that USA was planning to
'strip' the show, probably on SciFi: but now they're using these plans to
make themselves look good in the face of the SOSFK effort, to show the
world 'how much they care about the fans'. And worse, they're giving the
implication that we've "saved the show", simply because they're showing
reruns, therefore undermining our effort.

I cannot express how I feel about USA's tactics in this regard, as
profanity of that type is strictly forbidden on this list.

The worst part is, I can't even tell USA how I feel; we may need their
goodwill in the future.

While I think that USA's tactics are deplorable, and while I agree that
airing FK on SciFi is tremendously inferior to airing it on USA, there are
some advantages to the situation...

First off, airing FK on SciFi is preferable to airing in syndication simply
because it'll be easier to find -- how many of our local syndicated
stations bury the show at 2-3 am? Even if SciFi gives it an equally
horrible timeslot, at least it'll be on at the same time everywhere; easier
to get people to tune in & watch than having them scrutinize their TV Guide
looking for that obscure listing. And I don't think SciFi is going to bury
it; how much "new" programming do they have to show?

Second, although SciFi isn't carried on many cable systems, it is one of
the in-demand stations; people tend to lobby for it, and more systems are
taking it every day.

Third, SciFi is a 'target' network, looking to appeal to a specific
audience; and that specific audience is more likely to find FK on SciFi
through casual gee-what's-on TV browsing than on a syndicated station.

Fourth, SciFi is small, still, USA's stepchild; which may mean that they'll
be more receptive to us and our efforts. USA is big enough to be able to
get away with ignoring us; among their larger viewership, we simply don't
matter.. With SciFi: we may just be able to 'get on their good side'.

Fifth... without some sort of affiliation with some sort of network, we can
forget the idea of TV movies or any continuation of the series.
Syndication won't give us that; with SciFi involved, there's a possibility.

So while I'm not happy with the SciFi thing, it's not as bad as it could've
been... but USA's attitude, of pretending that we 'won', means that we are
going to have to work harder to accomplish our aims.

BUT, the fact that FK will apparently be showing in reruns right away will
keep people watching -- get new people watching -- 'way more than if it
were to continue in syndication -- and possibly, more so than if it were
being shown on USA after wrestling!

I would like to propose (if anyone still has any money/time/energy left)
that we give SciFi the syndicated-station treatment. Happy letters of
thanks, congratulating them on acquiring FK and urging them to show it
early and frequently. Gifts. Chocolate. Copies of letters we've sent to
local cable carriers, urging them to carry SciFi. Things to make them LIKE
us.

The more SciFi likes us, the more they see our presence and our intensity
and our VIEWERSHIP... hey, we can't afford not to court another ally.

Comments, anyone?
