Subject: Flower Power on FK!!

OK, after much dread and many laughs, I have decided to post this list to
the list, about things from the 60's/ 70's, among other things that would
either be hilarious to see on FK, or down right scary. They are as
follows, and I hope everybody gets a good laugh out of this, or at least
has interesting dreams, as I will tonight. Enjoy!!

Disco - cure for vampirism or not, this is just too scary to imagine.
(John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever replaced by Nicholas Knight or
Lucien LaCroix!!)

Hand Jive - this fits right in there with disco, although our favorite
vamps doing the Macarena, might be interesting. :-)

Bell Bottoms - this with polyester is beyond scary, but actually quite
funny if you try picturing Nick or LC in them.

Afro - I am truly afraid to picture Nick with an afro.

Beehive - Janette with this hairdo, would scare anybody.

Platform Shoes - I don't think this needs further explanation.

Tie - dyes - can you see Nick or LC in tie-dyes, with their love beads,
and lava lamps!!

Brill Cream - yuck!! That describes everything.

Cat eye glasses!! - I would run from the room screaming, before I could
watch an episode that showed this.

Mood Ring - this is strictly for LC, to replace his other ring what ever
it's supposed to be.

Now if I ever hear our fav. vamps utter the following phrases, I will
truly die laughing!!

"Far Out, Dude!!"
"Groovy!!"

The scenerios my mind creates from the above is too hilarious to put into
words.

Or how about doing some really outrageous dances, besides the Hand Jive
and Disco, such as The Fish, or The Swim, or The Jitterbug!!

Now for my fellow Canadian hockey fans on the list, how's this picture
for you, LC in Don Cherry type shirts!! Those collars are way too much!!

And to conclude, here are three interesting scenerios that can be treated
as fiction challenges if anybody feels so inclined!!

Our favorite vamps go camping!! Can you picture Nick, LC, and Janette(or
Natalie) sitting around the campfire telling ghost stories or singing
songs!! Think Kum By Ya(sp??)!!

For a second scenerio I have this scene from Freddy's Dead going through
my head of Freddy playing Nintendo, saying something about playing with
power!! Replace Freddy with LC, and this scene becomes histarically
funny, especially at 2 am!!

And finally, our fav. vamps go to Woodstock!! We know from Dying For
Fame, that Nick was more than likely there, but who wants to come up with
an interesting story line for them at this concert!! I dread the results,
but would still die laughing at them.

I hope after all of the above everybody has pleasant dreams, and doesn't
hate me in the morning!!(vbeg)

We have a closed captioning decoder attached to our TV and never have seen
captioning on FK. Does anyone one know if it is captioned? On USA only?? I
have to say I've only tried it on my local syndie's broadcast.

My vote for How Nat Would Smell is...vanilla. And perhaps this is just me
projecting (naaaah...) because *I* am a hoarder of Victoria's Secret vanilla
lace hand lotion. :) Hand lotion is such a practical thing, and a good way
to smell girly without getting all...perfumy. I think Nat, who has her hands
gunk all night, would opt for hand lotion after she's washed off the
formaldehyde. And since we're agreed on food smells, my vote's for vanilla.
It's popular right now, it's homey, it's sweet but not cloying, it's
practical yet feminine, strong but not flowery...it's *Nat.* In my perfectly
biased opinion. Personally, I *like* smelling like a fresh batch of cookies
(as as co-worker put it).

And my vote for Nick's scent is...Polo. Gotta be Polo. Though the vampire
community would probably say, "Ugh! Cow."

The episode that never got made that I want to see is Nick visiting the
Schankes at home. It's been done in fanfic, but I would have loved to see
Nick interact with the clan, and especially with Jenny. You know Schank must
have invited him over a hundred times, and that Nat would have talked him
into accepting at least *once.* The scenes wouldn't have to involve food,
though they probably would, just lots of Nick's reactions to a warm,
accepting, very idiosyncratic family that would simultaneously make him long
for mortality and be very, very glad to be a vampire.

Would also have loved to see Nat bring Nick home to meet the Lamberts
(whomever hasn't been killed off).

Would also have loved a real Nat backstory episode, and one that didn't
involve dead relatives or her car getting blown up.

And a story about how LaCroix found mortal Nick. And...(gee, this could go
on forever! That's why we need a fourth season! And a fifth, and a sixth...
The possibilities are endless.)

Was it Jamie who thought maybe Nicky-boy should just find a human who's
loaded with antidepressants and chug him down? That was...inspired. :)
Maybe Nat could sneak a bit of Prozac into her next protein shake, or switch
his vitamin A from the little silver pill box she gave him on Valentine's Day
with something stronger!

I just wanted to clarify, that the schedule of syndicated airings of
Forever Knight episodes which I posted last week is still *tentative*
after the end of March. I simply projected the most likely air schedule
for repeats and new episodes based on last year's pattern, and information
from official sources about scheduling. What I'm saying is - don't plan
your vacation around my schedule, OK? (I will repost an updated schedule
later this week.)

Of course, this week's episode is Let No Man Tear Asunder.

As a Dark Knightie, I feel I should add my two cents (hundreds of
dollars) on the recurring subject of Prozac. This is a two-faced
drug. It is not a cure-all for angst. In not-infrequent cases,
Prozac has been known to bring out "savage" tendencies, as, um,
someone I know once remarked of... someone I know.
Prozac could transform a Perkulator into a Cousin in a day.

Of course, if Nick were to consume that Prozac shake, the Dark
Knighties might get some more of those delectible scenes we...
appreciate so.

Especially between the ages of 13-16. Then the Knightie angst or Vaquero
attitude takes over for a few years. Then, at the end of the tunnel ---
well, I guess by then they decide what they want to be. Will they remain

Wrong, undocumented rumor. Wrong, wrong, wrong. Spread,
apparently, by the <alleged> Church of Scientology, which apparently has
some kind of beef with the pharmaceutical company that manufactures this
drug. There was a cover story about this smear on Newsweek or Time back
in '94, for Pete's sake... why is this still circulating?

Granted Prozac is probably wildly overprescribed and needs more
history before anyone can say anything quite as categorically as I just
did, but I hate this kind of stuff. I hate Procter & Gamble caving in to
the cuckoos who spread that devil-worship story about their cool logo.

I don't have the tape with me, but the conversation that Nick had with Erica
in _Last Act_ where he was talking about being wounded led me to believe
that he had killed. Also, In _Sons of Belial,_ the 'demon' says (again, I
don't have the tape) "de Brabant has been many people -- all of them
murderers." The use of Brabant says to me that the demon is referring to
both the mortal and immortal Nick. (The Vampire Nick would be a sort of --
murderer by default.)

I don't buy into the suicide rumors and the like. I wasn't referring
to all of that controversy. But I was speaking from experience.
Prozac *can* be dangerous, and in my case, it led to serious medical
problems. I know other people for whom this has been the case.
So, as it may work for some people quite effectively, it is not
necessarily the cure-all society is making it out to be.

I *definitely* don't fit into the category of lunatics spreading
any devil-worship stories about the stuff. I just don't like to see
the subject taken lightly.

Bwahahaha!!! (truly evil, demented laughter) It's finally finished. And it
only took me five months and way too many broken nails.

That's correct: part 28 of 28 of my fanfic just went up. That's it. The
end. So anyone who's been saving all the installments, it's safe to read
them now without worrying when the next one will post. (I know there's a
few of you out there, I've gotten letters from you) There's a tiny allusion
to HUMAN FACTOR in #28, but I'm not sure it's a SPOILER. Still, be careful
if you haven't seen this episode yet.

Now for the big question: Is this too big to post at the ftp site? Or the
Web site? And if I volunteer to help Steff re-vamp (sorry!) the site, will
this help me get my story filed in the right place? And how do I do ANY of
these things from my tiny retro-computer 2400bps modem?

Anyone who I promised installments to, E-mail me. Anyone who's never read
it and wants to... please wait until I get this whole site thing
straightened out, so I hopefully won't have to e-mail it to you.

Thanks to all the nice people who sent me comments (Isabella and Laura come
particularly to mind, as does Alex Cruz at AOL) and my friends who
threatened murder if I didn't finish it (You KNOW who you are. Put down the
gun!)

I think it was Douglas Adams who said "Anyone who actually wants to
be in charge should under no circumstances be allowed to do so." This lets
Lacroix right out. :) Natalie has better things to do. Nick will only shout
"I'm not worthy!" Janette would rather manage things from the background
(say, a nice quiet island in the Caribbean). Tracy? Hmmm... Frankly, she
reminds me of the Girl Scout leader I had who was totally clueless as to
what went on behind her back. Schanke would complain about having to do the
timesheets for the Cabinet.

Which means Vachon wins the nomination. :)

Dennis Miller had some comment during the Republican reply to the
State of the Union address a month or two ago, on Bob Dole: "Kinda brings
to mind the phrase 'Somewhere in Transylvania, there's an empty coffin...'"
Scary thought, isn't it?

As for blood taste... my blood probably no longer tastes of chocolate (can
you say, 34 days 'til Easter?) but the caffeine content would no doubt have
Nick flying without the aid of telekinesis. Plus all the decongestants and
Jolly Ranchers would have him permanently buzzed. I must look for that
fanfic about Lacroix munching on the crackhead and singing
"bibbity-bobbity-boo" for the rest of the night... where DID I put that?

Actually, on some levels, all DNA is virtually identical. Humans actually
have about 96%(?) in common with, oh, say, _Clostridium botulinus_ (ie, what
chromosomes we have in common, most of the material is the same). So, yes,
hypothetically the virus isn't species-specific (and, yes, basic cell
functions are the same).

However, HIV actually has very little similarity to SIV (monkey version).
There's a good bit of argument for it being man-made.

beautiful girl and was giving her wine and honey (I think) to prepare her
blood for whne he drank her blood. Nick wanted to save her but got
overcome with blood passion and killed her. LaCrois was some mad, but
wiped the drop from Nick's lip and tasted it, making a comment about how
sweet her blood was almost as sweet as the anticipation waiting for it.

Anyway, it seems obvious that what a person eats must affect the taste
and most likely the scent (which is a large part of taste) of the blood.

Um . . . that's not the most coherent thing I've ever written. ;-) It's

In Last Act, Nick mentions sustaining a nearly fatal wound during a battle
in the Crusades. Such a battle would imply that Nick was in combat and had
killed. (I hope he at least defended himself.) Depending on how the remarks
in SOB are interpreted, I can't recall another incident where someone so
much as said that Nick had killed as a mortal. (But this *is* FK, so what

Oh, god, it was too good! I'm printing it up right now.

And, hoenstly, I CAN see Uncle in tie-dye, Nick with a 'fro, Janette with a
beehive, and Nat in Cat glasses.

I'm a sick puppy. And I like it!

Actually, some of them have to be taught! For instance, I have a
two-yearold niece (one of six of the little things, ranging in age from -2
months to 14 years) who actually neede some training in "Cousinly
behaviour". She started out acting like a nice, sweet, proto-Perkulator.
After spending time with her aunt (who, coincidentally, showers her with
gifts like books and giant balls while at the same time reading her
"altered" stories. Y'know, in the original, I don't remember Corduroy
organizing a toy uprising so he could have The Red Button, heheheheheh...).
She is now (sorta) on her way to a more... uh, Aunt-like mode of behaviour.

And she does sea(see)-FoD(food) well, too!

I recall Nat using the term a few times too. Still, exsanguination implies
simple loss of blood, and applies to the victim. The New Word (whichever
one is chosen in the end) refers to the chosen beverage of Our Favorite
Night Creatures, and their dependance upon them. Still, they do exsanguinate...

NOt to be a me too, but, ME TOO. I'm going home over spring break soon,
and I won't have access to a computer for a week. I shudder at the
thought of what the computer help desk would do to me if I got that much
mail. Probably hunt me down and make me watch "Bay Watch" (no offense).
If someone could email me about how to set to nomail, I'd fall down on my
knees and pledge eternal gratitude, to quote the vampire duck.

Thanks!

Well I forgot to tape it too, but I'm not too upset because I watched it. NB
was on for about 2 minutes (a very nice, wicked 2 minutes) at the very
beginning and then for the next 2 *hours* I sat watching what looked like The
Love Boat in space. All those short skirts. I thought the mini-uniform went
out with Uhuru? Anyway, if Star Command was some kind of pilot for a series,
I can see where NB's part might be recurring (anyone know the word on this?).

Well, actually, I didn't set it during the 70's, but some discoing (is that a
verb??) goes on in my fic "LC: Dance Instructor". ;)

Thanks for warping my mind even *more* than it already was! ;)

it was not the sight of her body, nor yet was it that of the body of Hugo

three dare-devil roysterers, but it was that, standing over Hugo, and
plucking at his throat, there stood a foul thing, a great beast, shaped
like a hound, yet larger than any hound that ever mortal eye has rested
upon. And even as they looked the thing tore the throat out of Hugo
Baskerville, on which, as it turned its blazing eyes and dripping jaws
upon them, the three shrieked with fear and rode for dear life, still
screaming, across the moor."

Toni, I can say for sure that all 2nd and 3rd season eps were captioned,
both syndie and USA. Don't know about season 1. (My daughter is hearing
impaired and we watch a LOT of captions at my house.)

Even if you didn't have closed captioning turned on while taping an
episode, you can rewatch it *with* captioning turned on. The signal is
saved there somewhere. I usually do that just to check dialog I missed...I
find the captioning a little distracting on first viewing.

(There are several captioning setting. On my TV, the correct setting is
"1".) Maybe you just need to check settings.

I couldn't watch because I had to work on class plans. But I
was sitting at my desk when I heard my husband (who was watching
tv) suddenly yell "It's LaCroix, It's LaCroix..." (He's been
trained well. ;-) )

His opinion after watching the show was that the filming and sound
was a little cheesey and the costumes could use some work, but that
the plot was pretty good and if it does come on again, he would
watch it. He also thought NB role might be a re-occuring one.

Anyway, that's his 2 cents worth.

Same here - my kids (5, 8, 10) don't watch it. The 5 year old's too
young, the 8 year old is gentle soul who can't even cope with ST:TNG, and
the 10 year old would get ideas :-).

I was 13 before we got a TV (no, I'm not that old) so I missed out on all
that early tv watching stuff.

Yes.

Bad Blood was the first FK episode I ever saw, and I didn't absorb it too
well, because I didn't know what the premise was. So when I started
reading the list, and reading about Janette, I just assumed that Bridget
must be Janette, since she was the only female vamp I remembered seeing,
and I had kind of forgotten that she got staked.

Imagine my surprise when I saw a second season cast photo in Starlog, or
somewhere.
