isodes I wanna see that never were?

A: Every fanfic I ever wrote! Yes, I have a cruel desire to make Vachon
waltz with Lacroix. Yes, I wanted Nick to wear bunny slippers and talk to
phone sex operators. And, yes, I especially wanted to see the FK characters
get revenge on a TV conglomerate. ;) There's other stuff I wanna see, but I
ain't postin it here. You've read the jadfe stories. You know what I mean.

Thank goodness (or wickedness) for fanfic, right? I loved Twithted's "Trio"
stories. I also liked Sukhmet's stories about what *really* happened that
night Vesuvius decided it got tired of looking at Pompeii. There have been
many other very good stories that fill in plot holes, right wrongs, and bring
consistency to a sometimes erratic universe. Keep up the good work!

Wrong! Actually, dingoes were introduced into Australia before the first
European settlement of Australia, and never made it to Tasmania. To quote
the _Australian Encyclopedia_:

"The weight of evidence indicates that it arrived in Australia as recently
as 4000 years ago, but this figure might be a slight underestimate.
Certainly there is no evidence for the widely held belief that it was
introduced by Aborigines, who have occupied the continent for not less than
40,000 years.

A more likely hypothesis is that it reached Australia in a domesticated
state, accompanying Indonesian or South-East Asian fishermen who visited the
northern coast of Australia. It entered Australia from the north and it is
significant that it failed to enter Tasmania (which became separated from
the mainland 14,000 years ago)."

Anyway, I think it unlikely in the extreme that Screed ever ate a dingo!

Actually, in Stranger Than Fiction, the reason they knew that Emily Weiss'
attacker wasn't a vampire was because he had a blood type, I don't
remember what. Vampires apparently don't have one of any kind.

There are episodes where you do see Nick fly, and he is still in
"human form" I forget the names, one was when a reporter was doing a show
on something like "Cops" and she videotaped him flying down on some guy,
later he had to whammy her because the enforcers wanted her dead.

It's not quite that simple (among humans) and I'm sure someone out there
knows better than I, but if Schanke is A- then he can donate to A+/-,

Hey maybe that's what Carouches are -- vampires made without receiving any

although I can believe that Perry would know to *bite* Jody, I don't think

Well, yes the dynamics between them are not as well developed, as Seska is
only a recurring character. My point was that she reminded me of Janette in
that she is a pull on Chakotay to return to his old life, as Janette has
been to Nick in the past. Maybe more character development between the two
of them will occur, as Seska is supposed to be pregnant with Chakotay's
child. As for Janette trying to destroy Nick, she hasn't *yet* but if we
ever get more eps it will be interesting to see how she feels about him now...

I'd like to see the episode in which Tracy finds out that Nick is a
vampire. I wonder how she'll react. She finds vampirism an exciting
quality in Vachon -- dangerous and sexy -- but how will she regard it
in her partner? How will she feel about trusting her life to a
bloodsucking creature of the night? If she gets injured, and starts
to bleed, will she get nervous (just a little?) as her partner bends
solicitously over her?

Inquiring minds want to know.

I've been thinking again. :) In Bad Blood, the episode with Jack the
Ripper, Jack attacks and seems to kill the black rookie cop, Brianna.
But at the end of the ep, we see the vampire hunter O'Neill shoot a
vampire Brianna with a crossbow bolt, destroying her. Well, how do
we fit Brianna into the "choose" theory? She tells O'Neill when he
gifts her with a cross that she comes from a religious family. So if
she had a "near death" experience like Nick, why didn't she choose to
die rather than be made a vampire? Are only *some* people given a
choice of whether to die or be brought across? Since Jack didn't ask
her permission or tell her anything about it, what happened? If she
*was* religious, shouldn't she have had the choice to die or not to
die?

Or was she offered a "way to die" (at O'Neill's hands) later

perhaps? And if so, why?

My son, who is a self proclaimed vampire expert told me in a discussion we
had the other day that "mainstream" vampires can bring someone across
inadvertantly, possibly by exchange of saliva or whatever during the feeding
process. Because of this a good vampire breaks the victims neck in order to
avoid bring that person across accidently. I have also witnessed several
times in FK where the victims neck was broken (ie GVP) and in fanfic.

Not really, if you consider the possibility that the dog may have
been the runt of the litter. It was not uncommon practice for runts to be cast
out, destroyed, or given away.

I don't believe this is a problem with historical accuracy, but probability.

Dogs can runaway or be lost regardless of breed.

Preserve the human race? Probably, but I would doubt his motives for

This is what I would like to see. I know it will never happen in a billion
years unless someone writes it in fanfic. <HINT HINT> :-)

Nick and Schanke follow a murder suspect to Chicago and team up with (you
all know where this is heading don't you?) Ray and Frasier. Not only does
Schake have to deal with an eccentric partner, now he has to deal with a
straight-as-a-arrow mountie with a deaf wolf. Needless to say, Ray and
Schanke hit it off big time and visit all the souvlaki stands in Chicago
while Fraiser wonders why Deif won't go near Nick. Franny starts chasing
after Nick and we get to see Nick try to smuggle bottles of blood across the
border in his suitcase. Oh and they do catch the murderer.

Now, Diana took my little statement about the inherit 'soulessness' or
'evilness' of vampires as a reason not to watch Forever Knight. =) I'd
put it the exact oppisite way... Perhaps they possess an inherit evil,
but the whole challenge is to overcome it, for Nick at least. Even for
the other vamps to, because if even Lacroix ever /truly/ gave into his
evil nature completly and absolutly, he'd be unable to stop himself,
killing person after person and loosing all resembalnce to a thinking
being. So, what Nick must do is come to terms with the evil that is part
of existance, and realize that it's not so much 'his' evil as the evil of
*What* he is. =) Dunno, maybe my time playing Vampire: The Masqurade has
tainted my thinking. Maybe? HAH. For sure. ;) Not nessisarly a bad
thing though...

This may have already been done in FANFIC, and it's not an
entire plot for an episode, but I've always thought it would be
fun to have Natalie and Dana Scully (X-Files) meet an a
corner's convention...

Nope. Only Natalie is Canadian by birth. LaCroix is Roman and Janette is
French. Besides, since they make up entire new identities every time they
move they can be any nationality they want.

Has anyone considered a LaCroix/Nat ticket.

LaCroix has the Cousinly vote and they'd probably run a heck of a campaign
(I will not discuss ballot box stuffing or voter intimidation at this
juncture.). He has not only military experience but was a general thats
ususally good for votes. With him in office stalemates between the executive
branch and congress are likely to end rather "abruptly" in his favor. He
can give very "convincing" campaign speeches.

Natalie would probably get a good percentage of women voters and then
there's the mortal vote. She's got experience in the health care field.
She's willing to take on apparently impossible tasks which would help when
it came to balancing the budget. She's also tough enough to keep at it with
the likes of LaCroix threatening so we know she's got guts.

Now what would the rest of the cast do? There are lots of cabinet posts out
there. Felix would definitely have to be considered for Secretary of the
Treasury.

What if the vampire's fangs were hallow with the opening being at the top of
the fang leading into the front of the mouth. In that case they would act
as a funnel in funneling the blood into the mouth.

If the x-ray in NiQ didn't show any aberant sinuses, did it show his fangs
tucked up in his upper jaw? (Just curious.) I couldn't see the details very
clear.

No, not at all! I said *if* I believed that Vampires are evil, then FK
would not interest me. Evil, souless creatures with no hope for redemption
are the stuff of bad horror movies and do not interest me. I *do not* feel
this way and never could feel this way about Forever Knight. I *do* believe
that FK Vampires have souls and I do not believe that they are evil. I do
believe that they can find redemption as Vampires! I'm more inclined to
believe that humans are evil. (Vampires kill humans for food *as a general
rule.* Humans kill each other for just about every other reason.)

>Perhaps they possess an inherit evil,
>but the whole challenge is to overcome it, for Nick at least.

This is exactly my point, except that I believe if Nick can overcome the
evil that dwells within him, then he does have a soul, can be redeemed and
is not inherently evil.
If he were evil, or damned, then he would not ever be able to overcome or
accept 'the beast.'

>and realize that it's not so much 'his' evil as the evil of
>*What* he is. =)

If by 'what he is', you mean a Vampire, then I strongly disagree with this.
Nicholas de Brabant, the human, was a murderer. A Crusader, yes, but a
murderer. Becoming a Vampire only gave him a better reason to kill, IMO.

What do you base this statement on? Are all soldiers murderers? Or was
there some murder Nick committed as a mortal that I missed?

I agree that Nick doesn't seem to have been too noble as a mortal. :-)

De-lurking to the list to add my two cents. I don't let my 9 year old
daughter watch - first of all, its on too late. While there's certainly no
more sex or violence than anything else on TV (maybe even less), I don't want
to have to try to explain the premise and the vampire lore to her. I'm not
sure I could get it right, as I haven't been watching long enough. Maybe if
she was a year or two older. However, I read an article about the
"Goosebumps" books for kids this morning, and compared to them, maybe I
*should* let her watch.

And yes, I was also around 12 when I started watching Dark Shadows.

Very similar biologically -- humans and dogs are both mammals -- which is
why some medical research is done on dogs (as well as on other mammals).

Don't know about HIV, but *I* gave my dog tonsillitis (yes, dogs do have
tonsils) last time I was sick. Well... we've very close.

I read it a looong time ago, but as I recall it was actually a hound -- like
a wolf hound. No one ever saw it except at night and it had been painted
with phosphorescent paint so that it's body glowed (not it's eyes). But....

The relevant thing is that none of them are native-born American
citizens. Nick might be eligible to run for president, since his
current bio says that he was born in Chicago, though I'm not sure
how his Canadian residency (citizenship?) alters things. More
importantly, I doubt that even Larry Merlin's computer tricks

Here's one for the Mercs: read Terry Jones' (of Monty Python)
brilliant study of Chaucer's "Canterbury Tales" called
"Chaucer's Knight: Portrait of a Medieval Mercenary," in which
he proves the glorious knight along on the pilgrimmage -- who has
long been thought by scholars to be the one pilgrim unstained by
sin, included to make all of the other pilgrims pale by comparison --
must have been a mercenary, murderer, etc., and possibly the most
serious sinner of the lot. Jones provides an astounding amount
of historical fact to document this theory.
