Well, I've got a 2-year old Panasonic TV (and not a cheap one, either) but
it doesn't do closed captioning. Would some kind soul be willing to post
the CC translation of what Screed actually says about when he was first
brought across (re:dingoes and screamers)?

I looked up sangi* in Stedman's medical dictionary and the proper term to
describe bloodsuckers is sanguivorous (as applied to bats, leeches,
insects). There was no distinction made between ingesting animal vs human
blood (and I doubt there is such a term (blood is blood, in this case),
but I could be wrong).

Hi All!

Was going through some of my fic today and found out I was missing some
things. If anyone can help me out on these, I'd be *so* appreciative (and
what's this about War 7 coming....)

This is what I'm missing definitely, for sure:

Parts 16-33 of Out of Darkness by Marcia Tucker (I think. Sorry if it's the
wrong author :< ).

These two I'm not sure if there's more of or not...

Boredom by Julie Randolph, I have up to Part 5 and
Road Trip by Lara Negami, I have up to Part 6

Was there more to either of these?

I believe all of these were sent out early January when I ended up no-mail
on the FIC list....these things happen, but now I need the rest of these.

Thanks so much for the help...

Shannon

Actually, I've tried this (not for Screed, btw <g>; usually for DD or Mr.
Paul on HL) and the funny thing is that while the CC works perfectly fine
for the darn *commercials*, it doesn't function for the *show*!
Is this just a problem with *my* set?

Actually, at least one of the concealed memberships is mine.

There are other reasons for concealing memberships besides wanting to be
incognito: I do it to limit the number of e-mail addresses that come up for
me on "review", since many of them are subscribed to the list only for
forwarding purposes, and I really don't wanna get mail there otherwise, and
I've found that I have a tendency to accumulate mail at any address that
*isn't* set to conceal. Obviously, I'm not trying to pretend I'm not
here...

The thing is that concealing one's membership in order to lurk in secrecy
and/or limit incoming e-mail is only effective if you don't post to the
list from that address. So in certain cases, I kind of sort of fail to see
the point. <g>

Which are you not leaving untouched, dear? The comment, or the "concealed

since such words are made simply by sticking on prefixes,
wouldn't it be either anthrosanguivorous or homosanguivorous, depending
on whether you're willing to mix a little Greek into your Latin or not?

        That's right.  Thank you to everyone for reminding me of it;
I must have just been suppressing "HoD" -- which is a lot of work,
considering I've seen the darn thing four times (would someone *please*
get TPTB to rerun *something* else?).
So, how does my structure of vampirism, which requires that
choice Nick recalled in "Near Death," account for Urs? If I may swipe
someone else's line, "I'm a Knightie; I can rationalize anything!" :)
Now that I'm recalling "HoD," I am remembering those bits where Vachon
implies that Urs's death wish is alive and well, and has been ever since
he brought her across. As a mortal, Urs wanted to die, but was unable
-- psychologically, religiously, or culturally -- to commit suicide. As
a vampire, she still seems to desire death, but has existed for quite
some time without taking her own life. I therefore hypothesize that
however much Urs wants death, she is intrinsically incapable of making that
decision for herself. Thus, when confronted with the choice between
mortal death and vampire life, Urs's inability to choose death brought her
across, for refusing to choose is also a choice.
        (Note, Bonnela, a corollary to Urs's passivity...<g>)

Okay, so far we know:
Schanke is A-
Natalie is AB-

But does anyone know Nick's blood type? Believe it or not, this may be
important for fanfic. We know Nat gave him a pint of Schanke's blood once,
and among humans you only give same type to same type (or O to anybody) but
we also know that vampire bodies don't seem to give a whoop about
blood-type incompatibilities.

Christina,
NB has already been on Beyond Reality. The ep is called Sins Of The
Father. He plays a doctor who has a moment of indiscretion with another
woman in the basement of his house. His pregnant wife finds them. One
thing leads to another, and the wife kills the other woman. The wife then
goes into shock and can't remember the incident. NB's character protects
his wife by hiding the body and keeping quiet. Years pass, and it's
discovered that the wife's supressed memories of the murder were passed on
to her unborn child in the womb. The ep. deals with the consequences of
that situation.

From: Sandra Gray <TMP_HARKINS@d.......>
Subject: Unwilling vampires

This is partly in response to Amy's comments about why Urs is a
vampire. There is a first season episode where a woman is not only
brought over while unconscious, but apparently carries a big grudge
about it. This episode is Fatal Mistake and the woman is the
barmail Alexandra. Nick "parties" with her (quite erotically too ;) )
in the flashback (which seems to be Three Musketeer's era?). But of
course too much "romantic" activity brings out his beast and he bites
her. He thinks he's killed her. LC comes along after Nick has gone
and finds out "There's life in you yet.", drains some of his blood
into a cup, puts some in her mouth and brings her over.

Well, in the present day, Alexandra shows up in Toronto with revenge
on her mind. Even though LC brought her across, she blames Nick for
having given her death and leading her to her "eternal damnation"
and seems determined to kill Nick. Even though it won't change what
has happened to her, she wants his head on her mantle. Of course she
doesn't kill Nick, but she's still alive after their fight we see at
the end of the episode.

So, although Alexandra has lived as a vampire for many years, she's
apparently somewhat displeased at her circumstances since she wants
to kill Nick. So how does she fit into your theory, Amy?

--Sandra Gray, forever Knightie

PS--Maybe it's just a matter of we all would rather live than die,
even if it means we're vampires?

True. These would be acceptable words.

But quite frankly, that second one just doesn't have the connotation I'm
going for...

Subject: Jeez! Forgot to tell y'all...

...I just got off the phone with one Justin Ware, writer for some magazine
called Internet Underground. I've never heard of it, but they have a web
page at http://www.underground-online.com/

...he's doing an article about the efforts to save cancelled shows on the
internet, and for some odd reason, he wanted to talk to me...

...so I told him as much as I could about our efforts, as eloquently and
extensively as possible.

I kept meaning to post about this, and I kept forgetting; it's sheer chance
that he caught me off-line, 'cause I forgot he was supposed to call. Damn
this head injury, anyway...

...but I don't think I forgot anything of importance; I can't remember my
own street address anymore, but I know the web page URL by heart... <g>

So with a little luck, we'll get some more publicity out of this. Hope
y'all don't mind.
