Hello, (Yes it's a generic greeting, but I'm only two and that's the only word I can say) I've kicked my personal servant, Ann, (you know, the featherless person whom I graciously allow to wait on me wing and talon) off my computer so I can make one point perfectly clear (and at the decibel level of a 747 that's not at all difficult.) Forever Knight is and has always been FOR THE BIRDS! Vampires...I can't tell you know much I admire these guys. As a parrot I can tell you they may not have feathers, but can they ever fly. Their claws are ALMOST as sharp as mine. And I thought I was good at drawing blood, those vampires just PUT ME TO SHAME! Just one complaint though...I have never seen even one bird at the RAVEN, not one! Not to worry, I've declared that there will be many more seasons of Forever Knight (cause they'll hear me all the way to Tokyo if I don't get my way), so they'll be plenty of time to rectify this oversight. Holm" <tch@w.......> Subject: Whither SOS-FK? (long) Hello Everyone -- For all that there's been a lot of speculation about a "last episode" of FK making continuing the show impossible I want to quote something Sharon H. wrote: "Remember how absolutely different "Human Factor" ended up being from the spoilers we heard? Spoilers aren't necessary accurate, and the people we're getting spoilers from may be working off of early drafts of scripts, partial cuts of episodes, etc" Until we know exactly what the last ep of Season 3 contains we probably have to take a wait & see attitude. Even if the last ep should contain an "ending", this is "Television". (Many wonderful examples have been posted ... if TPTB or someone with enough $$ wants it back, they will find a way -- trust me on this!) As someone posted way back in December -- we're in this for the long haul--- Even should TPTB try to chase us off with a disastrous last episode -- We're not going anywhere! I loved the person who said that we're part of TriStar's life now -- even if it's sold or changes hands -- we'll just pack our bags & travel along -- and if TPTB think "ending" the series will make us "go away", well... I wouldn't bet on it! In the mean time, there _are_ some things we can be doing: I've been querying people involved in various aspects of the SOS-FK campaign & here's what I have culled (any errors and omissions are mine, I'm just trying to compile a list): What's up with SOS-FK??? 1. The "Bring a Friend Across" contest continues. Win prizes and honors for doing something your probably already do all the time -- Introducing your friends to FK! The basic idea -- you introduce someone to FK (or many some ones to FK) and write Annemarie & tell her about it -- prizes awarded for most, best, uhhh... see Annmarie's post or write her for details at <mickey@c.......>. Don't miss out on this! 2. Forever Knight Wishing Cranes project -- Send 1000 cranes to Sony execs. all with the same wish -- "More Forever Knight". Can wishes come true -- I believe! Check Diane E's web page at <http://www.execpc.com/~echelbar/fkcranes.html> or contact East Coast Coordinator, Viper c/o Diane at <gryphon@e.......>or West Coast Coordinator, Bonnie at <bonnie@o.......> 3. Continue to periodically to write (yes, groan, more....) letters remember what Fred Mollin said: >Please keep the pressure on with your local stations, Sony, TriStar and even >USA Network. >If the fans continue to raise their voices, people will take notice and maybe >there will be a possibility of another FK incarnation! Also --- quoting something Laurie C-F wrote me (first appearance on the list so I won't snip to 4 lines) "We should try to keep the letter writing campaign going, on a staggered basis. We should encourage people to write a letter or two every four to six weeks, to TriStar, USA, their local syndie, a sponsor, whoever. Make sure they know we're still around. And that we want FK reruns. We want new FK episodes or movies. We want FK tapes. We want FK merchandise. And we're not going away until we get them. <g>" Lost the addresses for Sony, USA or TriStar? -- Karen Tobin <ktobin@t.......> has them all! Remember if Sony wants to they have the power to decide how the show will end -- or not end... 4. Continue to raise $$ for Pediatric Aids Foundation (PAF). There are a lot of Hollywood honchos on their board & it's a worthy thing to do! Lisa Prince is willing to keep the donation mailbox open and is developing a brochure so if you're going to a convention or taking to people about FK you might want to get one of these by e-mailing her at <Moonlight@g.......>. Also Laurie C-F has been in contact with the production company about the possibility of an auction of some smaller props to benefit PAF (details once she has any - nothing yet). Lest anyone find this depressing - remember this is just *stuff* -- the show is ideas and stories & actors. Props are easily replaced! 5. Continue to try & publicize FK any way we can. If you have any media contacts (C'mon think!), Cynthia Hoffman <choff@v.......>has a press kit developed. Contact her about how to get one sent to someone you know! 6) A "Friends of Forever Knight" email list. Not a discussion group but a way to get information about SOS-FK to people. Primarily for people who are on-line and not subscribed to FORKNI-L. Send folks who need this info to Annmarie at <mickey@r.......> 7) A "Friends of Forever Knight" snail mailing list. This is a snail mail list for people who are not on-line, but are still interested in the SOS-FK movement. It's home base is the SOS-FK P.O. Box that has appeared on the flyers and brochures up to this point. Let's collect names of fans we talk to who aren't on line and send them to Lana at <lgs@i.......>. The snail mail address is "Friends of Forever Knight, SOS-FK, [Address removed]" As we move into the show in re-runs and possibly all three seasons being re-run in a strip, more and more people are going to find this wonderful TV show -- and they're going to be upset when they find out there are no more eps -- and we've got to be there to help them figure out what to *do* about it! W ith all the wonderful stuff everyone has done so far I know we can find a way. This community _will_ prove to be an irresistible force in the long term, the "object" is just a little heavier that we first thought! -Toni <tch@w.......> ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 1 Mar 1996 06:46:36 -0500 From: Rebecca Burns <r.burns@g.......> Subject: Re: GWD (lack of) accent On Thu 29-Feb-1996 10:25a, June Russell wrote: JR> I've been listening to the (wonderful) JR> Tangled Web "Hauntings" tapes and he doesn't sound much like the Ger of FK JR> on there (many other different people, in fact). I woke up this morning and realized what we were really arguing about concerning Dark Natties. Semantics! Here's the deal: A Nattie is the same thing as a Natpacker. Call it shorthand, or a diminutive, like someone being called Nick instead of Nicholas. It rolls off the tongue better. Therefore, if, as Jamie says, there can be Dark Natpackers, then, by definition, there can be Dark Natties! :) The reason I said Dark Natties at the party last weekend, instead of Dark Natpackers was because "Dark Natties" is phonetically a lot closer to "Dark Knighties." Yes? Yes. What I said was: "If there can be Dark Knighties, there can be Dark *Natties*!" It was a play on words, and, oddly enough, several people have taken a liking to it as a faction. ;) Including myself. So we have been arguing over words, not their meaning. :) Man, and to think I changed from an English major to anthropology! I think I missed my calling. (I changed a killing scene to a hypnotizing scene after I had a nightmare that the police came and got me when Jon Feltheimer ended up dead stapled to the hood of his car just like in the story...) Anyway, the revenge is still there. Several people asked me to send them a copy because they aren't on FKFIC, but I've lost the list of who it was. Anyone who wants a copy, please let me know. Thanks for all the positive comments so far. By the way, is there a way to set FKFIC to adult stories only? I know how to include them, but I don't know how to exclude the other stuff. Before I do, though, I want to add my agreement to a point that's been made on the list recently. I do think the season that you became a fan definitely does affect your outlook on the show. First season produced a lot of Knighties, Natpackers, and N&Npackers. Second season produced a lot of Cousins and FoDs. Third season, like the first, has tended to produce Knighties, Natpackers, N&Npackers and also, with the addition of Vachon, Vacqero/a/s. I think this was partly a result of the types of episodes that were done in those seasons (it was a lot easier to become a Cousin second season than first, and a lot harder to become a Natpacker). But I also think it is a function of differing personalities and tastes. I would not have become a fan of Forever Knight in first season. In fact, I vaguely remember trying to watch an episode once and turning it off. The story going on at that time was just not that compelling to me. One of my best friends was a fan from the very beginning, and she encouraged me to get into the show, but I just wasn't interested. I got hooked on the dysfunctional family drama aspect that was brought out in second season, not on Nick's quest for mortality that predominated in first. And having had many discussions offlist on this topic with various people, I know there are similar stories out there. Okay, enough rambling. On to the list. I tried to put together a list of my top ten, but I couldn't come up with ten that were really at that same top level of enthrallment. What I ended up with were eight super super favorites, and ten super favorites. Needless to say, it reflects my Cousinly leanings <g>. Here goes: 1. Father's Day. (The ep that hooked me on the show.) 2. A More Permanent Hell. (for the LC origins story, the wonderful philosophical discussion with Nick in the loft, and the bitterness of the tag) 3. Curiouser & Curioser. (for the sheer brilliance of it) 4. Be My Valentine (for the Nat/LC stuff) 5. The Fix (for its joyousness - Nick gets his day in the sun) 6. Sons of Belial (for the Nick/LC stuff) 7. Night in Question (for the Nick/Nat/LC stuff) 8. Close Call (for the Schanke/Nightcrawler scene, with Nick and Janette watching papa <g>) Six from second season, two from third (what can I say; LaCroix was mostly dead and/or fighting with Nick in first season; as I said, I'm not a great first season fan.) In addition to the foregoing, my very very close runnersup, are: >From first season: Only the Lonely, Feeding the Beast, Unreality TV, I Will Repay, Dying for Fame (I would never say there aren't wonderful episodes in first season; just that they don't push my particular buttons to the same extent as some other episodes) >From second season: Fate Worse than Death, Stranger Than Fiction, Hunted, Partners of the Month >From third season: Fever Cousin LaurieCF ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 1 Mar 1996 10:36:19 -0500 From: Stephanie Babbitt <stephanie.babbitt@g.......> Subject: Re: Ger's Accent(s) Marcia wrote: >Anyone else hearing that "clew" sound in other Nick words now? He realised that Schanke was just all warm and fuzzy inside. :) Pe> 8. "Night in Question" -- My favourite scene is when Nick is in the hospital, eating soup, and Nat and Reese come to talk to him. I had to just about be revived after that scene! He looked *so* gorgeous. All confused and cute and sweet and divine and little boyish! I ran around the house yelling, "No shirt! He didn't have on a shirt! No shirt!" Then I rewound the tape about ten times. That scene is set up really well, and Nick was so concerned for that poor girl. Pe> My oh my. "Feeding the Beast" is her #1 episode. She *is* a Dark Pe> Knightie, isn't she? Best line from that episode -- "I'll show her Pe> what backsliding really means" (or something to that effect). That is my favourite scene - when he *almost* bites that girl, and then asks Natalie if she's seeking some "dark, sexual thrill". Natalie just says, "That is enough!" What, Nat, are you NUTS, woman?! And I *love* that quote - "Monica says that recovery is just the space between fixes. *He vamps out* I think I'll show her what backsliding really is!" I had to be revived with smelling salts after that one. Pe> I guess if I was forced to pick a #1 episode, I'd pick the episode Pe> that brought me across -- "The Fix." I guess Dark Knighties like Marina Pe> wouldn't pick this episode, would they? Aw, c'mon, who can resist Pe> Nick with a sunburn? I think I would like it! See, Nick, from all accounts, was *happy* in that episode. That's what I want - for Nick to be happy. Except I think that trying to be human is not making Nick happy. Learning to accept what he is would make him happy. (Though, I have to confess, I like it when he bites people.) Other favourite scenes: * Only the Lonely - The scene where Nat and Roger come back to Nat's place to find Nick there. The best part is when Nat is trying to tell Roger that "this is purely work related" - and Nick puts his arm around her. He looked SO possessive! I love how he backslides afterwards, telling her he feels protective, like towards a sister. Shame! * Sons of Belial - Uncle's monolgue right at the end. 'Nuff said. Brilliant stuff. * Trophy Girl - The flashback where Nick eats LaCroix's dinner. Whew. * Last Act - The flashback where Nick and Erica are lying together and she talks about seeing castles and stuff. Nick just says, "The Crusades." Erica says, "You were wounded. Nearly killed." And Nick just says, "Yes." I dunno, he said it in such a matter-of-fact manner, it really got to me. That was his lifestyle, he nearly died, and he just accepts it. Well, enough of that. There are many scenes I like with Uncle in them, too. (That's what's nice about being a Dark Knightie - you get to admire Uncle, not hate him. :) - Marina. \\ "And tell me if you want to catch that feeling of redemption; // // That feeling of redemption don't do much for me." - Tanita Tikaram \\ \\========Marina Bailey========tmar@f.......==========Knightie========// ... And now..for those who may have forgotten or those newbies out there! Bring Someone Across Contest Its very simple...just bring a new viewer across to FK! You can do this by having a get together at your house during a broadcast or you can have tapes on hand of your favorite episodes and a few flyers made up with information about when FK is shown in your area. If its an out of town friend, send them a tape along with the information when FK is shown in *their* area. Now,if your having it at your house, have some stationary avilable and pen out some letters to TPTB, Sony,TriStar and your local affiliate. If its a USA re-run,write to USA, have the "newbie" ask when they will see new episodes. We all know that USA isn't showing any more new ones, but a new viewer wouldn't. You send a new letter stating the people that you have brought across and the newbie writes that they were brought across by you! This cuts down on the boredom of the same ole letters that you have to write and its a change for TPTB that they are seeing new viewers coming into the fold. Then send me a letter letting me know who you brought across and a copy of the letters that were sent. I need this so that we can have some verification. We have an autographed copy by Fred Mollin of the artwork for his new CD that is coming out and I'm waiting to receive autographed copies of FK original scripts! So..these are nice prizes to have for FK fans! All you have to do is bring across new viewers! And Susan Garrett has some other great vampire related prizes too! I want to add that flyers are so important. Insert them everywhere! Put one in your phone bill, electric bill, cable bill any thing that you send out on a monthly basis, you never know who you are going to reach with one of these flyers! Just add on to it where FK can be found in your viewing area. Remember..I was one of the viewers of this show who never knew about the original campaign to save it after season one...go out and find the people like me! The ones who do care about what happens to FK,but don't know how to go about saving it. You can see by my note the other day that the FK fans in Australia have a regular get together, organize the same thing in your area. Talk it up to your coworkers, all they have to do is see it to be hooked! We all were :) The address to send your copies to is: [Address removed] Annmarie * Save FOREVER KNIGHT! My family's newspaper tv guide said this Saturday, we'd have 2 hours of FK (remember my prior post?) which would make a nice gift to me after taking my comps. Well, I got the TV Guide in the mail on Wednesday and it says they are showing "Freaky Friday" instead!!!!! I am hoping this is an error - Yes, I am happy to have it on at its usual, 11:30 pm, but I was really looking forward to relaxing with FK at 7 pm after my comps. Off to study for tomorrow! The price of the CD is $12.98 plus $3 postage. The order number is #8043. The lady I talked to said they haven't decided if they will also issue it on cassette tape. The CD is not yet ready to ship, but those who call now will be among the first to receive it. FINALLY!! I'm going to my tv-impaired, 'net-impaired third-season-impaired sister for the weekend and I wanted to print a few fan-fic pieces for her to stave off her fk-deprived shakes. Problem is that a lot of the stories that I enjoyed require some knowledge of the goings-on on this list (ex. Vice Versa) What stories do you guys recommend to a first- and second- season fan who is also 'net-less? (She brought me across, so I feel I owe her something (a BIG something :-) ). My Forever 'Net 'zines are on loan (hi Malya!) so I can't lend her those) thanx in advance! chaya-baila <cbailaa@t.......> Proud FFFROGgie ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 1 Mar 1996 12:36:31 -0500 From: Jamie Melody Randell <immajer@p.......> Subject: Re: Crescendo Taking Orders On Mar 01, 1996 12:27:08, '"Nancy A. LaCroix decides on a whole new look for The Raven: Country & Western. 9. We discover the real reason for LaCroix' third season transformation: he's been mixing Prozac with his blood. 8. Nick finally realizes who his true love is and moves to a farm in Vermont so that he can be near Elsie. 7. Vachon discovers he has a true calling as a Chippendale's dancer. 6. The real reason Reese can't use the water cooler: Nick whammied it. 5. When the C & W idea doesn't pan out, LaCroix thinks that a La Cage Aux Folles theme is just the ticket. 4. Nat discovers the cure to vampirism is Mentos: the Freshmaker. 3. LaCroix gets tired of the "amateurs" performing on strip night, and decides to get up there and show them how it's done. 2. Nick gets tired of seeing LaCroix perform on strip night, and decides to get up there and show him how it's done. And the number one Thing We'll Never See On Forever Knight: Nat *doesn't* get tired of seeing Nick and LaCroix perform on strip night, and goes broke sticking dollar bills in their underwear. I hope you enjoyed it! ;) If you did or didn't; please e-me and let me know. Thanks!
