So I am writing to ask the advice of those who have been on this list and on FKFIC-L longer than I. Here's the deal. I was on FKFIC for about three days four weeks ago and then had to sign off because of the huge amounts of mail. But I'm about to sign on again to post a story. Here's where the advice part comes in: The story I'm gonna post may or may not get me into WAY BIG trouble. The basic plot: The FK characters rally around their favorite TV show, called Eternal Champion, about a supernatural Private Investigator. Anyway, the show's been cancelled (sound familiar?) because of low ratings. To make a long story short, Lacroix does some bad things to TPTB. Now, when you read this story, I think it's pretty obvious what I'm talking about. But it's really pretty humorous, and not nearly as gruesome as I could have made it... So what's your opinion? Has anyone ever been hung out to dry over fanfic before? Hell, I've been in trouble so much in my life you'd think I'd know the answer to this by now. ;) And also, because I haven't been on FKFIC for a while, I don't know if such a story has already been posted. Let me know via private mail, unless it would benefit the whole list to see. ;) Thanks! I like too many of them and find it extremely difficult to rank them. But I was able to come up with this: #### ***Top 10 Favorite Scenes from Forever Knight*** (I won't apologize for the preponderance of scenes listed herein that involve Nick. My preferences along those lines are well known. And once or twice in this list I've noted my reaction to the scene, which might help explain why I liked it.) 10. "Dark Knight" -- When Nick realizes that Schanke has been assigned to be his partner, he turns back to the main precinct room and says, "Somebody shoot me... please...." 9. "Fever" -- I think this is still under spoiler protection, but there's a scene between Vachon and Screed that is very touching. I can't watch this bit without finding a soft place in my heart for both characters. 8. "Night in Question" -- Nat comes back to Nick's loft with some groceries, only to find LaCroix standing there, holding a bottle of human blood. Inexplicably, she fails to run out of the room screaming. Allison, exhibiting the survival instincts Nat seems to lack, has to fight off an overwhelming urge to bolt out of her living room. (I'm not kidding. I had to hang onto the arms of my chair to keep from leaping out of it.) 7. "The Human Factor" -- Without giving away any spoilers, let's just say the first flashback scene. Anyone who's confused can e-mail me privately, but those who've seen the episode will know what I mean. 6. "Hunters" -- After a hotel room with Schanke in it explodes, leading Nick to think that Schanke must be dead, Nick looks back and says "Schanke" in the most amazing deep, heartwrenching voice. (GWD's years of acting experience come through beautifully in scenes like this.) 5. "Black Buddha, part I" -- Nick finds a tattered ticket at the site of the plane crash and realized that it was Schanke's flight that crashed. Once again using The Voice, Nick says Schanke's name and his legs seem to lose their ability to hold him up. Allison cries. 4. "The Fix" -- Nick eats spaghetti off the plate of a mafioso. He looks so happy doing it, while his partner and the mafioso look at him like he's nuts. :) 3. "Cherry Blossoms" -- Nick is held immobile in a chair by acupuncture needles. Janette comes in and utters one of the best all-time lines in FK -- "An immovable feast." Yum. 2. "Cherry Blossoms" -- Nick is held immobile on a table by acupuncture needles while a man holds a stake over him, ready to plunge it through his heart. (OK, I know, you *really* think I'm a sick puppy now, but I love it when Nick is in danger. So sue me.) 1. Canadian (& German) version of "Dead Issue" -- the end of the first flashback scene. Nick, posing nude for a sculptor (we only get to see him from the chest up), reaches out his arm in a delicate and graceful gesture. Allison swoons and needs to be revived with smelling salts. #### Well, that was fun! Anyone else have an alternate list? These Top 10 lists are actually very revealing! For example, in her top 10 favorite episodes list, Marina Bailey (tmar@f.......) said: > Favourite episodes... oh, boy... > > 1. Feeding the Beast My oh my. "Feeding the Beast" is her #1 episode. She *is* a Dark Knightie, isn't she? Best line from that episode -- "I'll show her what backsliding really means" (or something to that effect). I guess if I was forced to pick a #1 episode, I'd pick the episode that brought me across -- "The Fix." After I saw this episode, I was completely and utterly hooked. I guess Dark Knighties like Marina wouldn't pick this episode, would they? Aw, c'mon, who can resist Nick with a sunburn? * Allison Percy, Knightie percy91@w....... * * -- Have angst, will travel -- * * See GWD in "Taming of the Shrew" April 25, 26, & 27 in Toronto. * * For info, go to http://assets.wharton.upenn.edu/~percy91/shrew.html * P.S. But others should pick designations that appeal to them -- variety is the spice of life, after all. They are in effect "fictional beings" that's what they want us to believe:) I see your point. Which kind of "fictional being" do you thing is better or has a better advantage? I am hard core for Lestat and his kind, I do like the fk vamps but things about them make me sad for them. ************************************** "La vie pour toujours, ma chere petite -Jason Ryan ibe0018@i....... ************************************** ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 29 Feb 1996 15:10:32 -0500 From: Jamie Melody Randell <immajer@p.......> Subject: Help: Fiction: Mine I already tried the database-search thingie to no avail, and am now begging for help: I have on my hard drive a bit of fiction that I must've written, about Nick selling his Caddy in the year 2014. My name is Fuzzy-Boo, and I am speaking on behalf of my mother, and my five siblings. We hope that our human, Dark Phoenix, is not been too much of a bother. She tends to get easily side-tracked when she finds something she likes. Does anyone else have this problem? She gets on the computer and I can't even get into her lap for a good scratching! I enjoy FK as much as the next feline, and my entire family appreciated that nice piece of fan-fic. I think we need Sidney back! He had a good relationship with his human (she knew who was boss!) and I feel that is an example all our humans could learn from. Oops, I hear our human coming...nice chatting with all of you and we are glad to know that the felines are represented on the 'net. May your hunting be good! Try urinating on the hard drive. This usually gets their attention in quick order. Good hunting to you as well, Uncle Lugh (Oh, and you may want to be sure the computer is *off* before you attempt this, as a nasty shock is possible otherwise. Don't say I didn't warn you.) ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 29 Feb 1996 13:37:35 -0800 From: [Name removed by request] Subject: Re: ELF i don't know what Nick would be. i try to avoid cats so i don't know too many breeds by name. He could be a Manx and angst over being incomplete, i really don't know. He looks like a fuzzy baby lion. Nat would definitely be an angora, you're absolutely right there, Ocean. Schanke would be a groundhog, Stonetree a badger, Cohen a magpie (i think i'm picking these randomly), Janette a mink, Screed a meerkat, Urs a fish (whatever kind those ones in Disney's Fantasia were), Reese a bear, Vachon one of those dogs - i think they're some kind of mutant poodle - the kinds that one mistakes for a throw rug or a really big pile of lint until it bites you, the kind that doesn't seem to have any eyes? That one.Or a Tribble. Uh, Tracy's a fawn (gangly with big eyes. Maybe a foal.), Miklos a crow (or a bat), and LaCroix the lead singer for the Stray Cats, all tattooed arms, duck-bill hair, and leather jacket. Aaayyyeeee. No, Sigfreid's (Sigfried, whatever) 3rd white tiger from the left. The one on the rubber ball. i'm running a fever so maybe i should sign this "Bun-Bun, Susie, Spotty, Brownie, and Whitie" but somehow i think if i channeled our passed-on rabbits, they'd have something more useful to say. i think we should turn them all into sausage-sized silverfish and let them loose in Feltheimer's office. i can't believe i responded to this thread. If each of the FK characters was a McDonald's burger, what burger do you think they'd be? And would you like fries with that?
