How much faith do you have in this info? It doesn't matter anyway. Tristar will lie, cheat and steal to destroy the show at this point. The execs would look like fools if this info is accurate. They would do anything to avoid admitting it. > That's THREE TIMES the rating TriStar said they needed to renew the > show. I would like to see where this rumor came from and whether there is any validity in it. the problem is that many lists post neilsen ratings. that 1.7 didn't come from Tristar.. I'm just so depressed because I truly don't think it is about ratings anymore. The executives are CYA and they can't afford to admit the show has any merit. It will be killed regardless of its rating. The lower execs might not realize that, but JF and Kay at USA are playing CYA. |---- Vicki Merriman - vmerrima@i....... ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 24 Feb 1996 00:07:25 -0600 From: Annmarie <mickey@c.......> Subject: WARNING-SPOILER! OK, for me, the whole episode is Vachon leaning forward and say "cars with tailfins are definitely sexy-- more predatory" or something like that. Outside the Lines... eh. Some episodes haven't been so great, I agree, but they are still better than a lot of the other junk we get on TV. Ja> This season's gotten a lot better, but it still has it's Ja> nasty memories. Yeah, but the first and second season also had a couple of episodes that weren't exactly sterling. I have to say that I like all three seasons. But to agree with a comment someone else made a while back, yeah, the seasons are all very different. In the first season Nick was more on the edge, and dressed that way too. The second season seemed to lose a lot of that, but made up for it in other ways. Third season Nick is a little more edgy than he was in the second season, but not like he was in the first. Still, I consider all of them to be 'real FK' and watch episodes from all three whenever I can. Favourite episodes from each season? "Feeding the Beast", "Baby Baby", "Sons of Belial". Also - made a NEW version of the CERK shirt (thank you Cousin Jamie - need your snail mail so I can send you one!) Cousin Jamie was my inspiration to do this! Maybe when I move this summer into a bigger place I'll be able to do this... More than OBFK - I'm a guest at LUNACON! I intend to have an FK party in my suite at the Con. If you want LUNACON info or already know what this is and will be there, Email me off-list! Thanks!! I'll also be bringing SOS stuff with me to get the word out. With Nick, it's always a question. I've been debating this subject for more than a year, and have neither the time nor inclination to renew the debate at the moment. But LC has a great many qualities which endear him to members of the FK viewership (NOT "followers"). Sure, some are attracted by the power. KYW-TV will continue to air the series until that Well, I think this probably sheds some light on TriStar's intransigence about doing a 4th season. I suspect from this that they had some kind of deal with USA all along to stop after the 3rd season so USA could show all the reruns without the competition of new episodes in syndication. With TriStar's money woes it probably looked like a sweet deal: lots of $ from USA and no new production expenses. And for USA, too, who wouldn't have to pay so much for reruns as they'd have to for first-run. This is a really depressing thought. It means (if true) that we probably never had a chance at a 4th season. I wouldn't regard our efforts as worthless, however--for the embarassment factor alone, to TriStar AND USA Network, who obviously had no idea of the strength of our devotion. Now they know; perhaps, just possibly, they'll think twice in the future about pulling this kind of stunt with some other show. A *remote* possibility, I admit, but hey, if I can cause some corporate executive to feel just a *little* bit anxious next time he tries to put one over on his customers for a bit more profit then my life will have been worthwhile! :) Gee, you'd think they'd have learned something from Fox's Alien Nation fiasco! I've been thinking about this, actually (forgive me if I swing madly between humor and seriousness). While every faction claims qualities of its own, the qualities that overlap are the most fascinating. Take, for example, a real sense of humor. Natpackers have it; Cousins have it; Knighties borrow it sometimes, but then feel guilty. On the other hand, there is the sense of community. Ravenettes have it; Knighties have it to the hilt; Natpackers indulge in it, while reserving the right to a proper sense of humor; Cousins, however, couldn't hang on to *community* if it sunk both fangs into their collective neck. (Oddly, Uncle seems to have a sense of community (see "Fever") that has escaped his mortal minions...) :) --Thrilled to have the list back; sorry about posting a "where are you." ***** Amy R. r.......@w....... What I thought was curious was the use of the term "whammy" by Mulder in discussing what the guy was doing. In Black Buddha, JV says to Screed, "I tried, she won't whammy" I thought it was just, you know, vampire slang. After watching this episode I started to wonder if it was just a coincidence or if there's some (literary?) basis for this, since I'm not really up on vampire lore... Anybody know?
