Nat has been shown urging Nick to do the moral or "good" thing (or at least express displeasure when he fails to do so). LC has shown that he doesn't value human morality, that he won't hesitate to kill mortals if necessary. Since it's doubtful that LC will change, don't you think Nat would have to make a radical change in her thinking in order to be happy with LC? If she didn't, wouldn't she and LC simply be at loggerheads all the time (which would soon drive LC away since he expects those he cares about to embrace his outlook)? Do you think Nat would "reform" LC? Or do you think Nat would instead lose her own principles? Or is Nat one of those people who is only "moral" because she is human and would really be "amoral" if she was made a vampire? If Nat agreed with LC's viewpoint and became amoral, would she then be a very different character? --Sandra Gray, forever Knightie --tmp_harkins@d....... ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 19 Feb 1996 14:08:30 -0800 From: Amy R. <r.......@w.......> Subject: Re: Eastern WA, North ID Ooops. Historically, isn't it fairly clear there was a Jesus of Nazareth and he did die at the hands of the Romans? So that's not an issue of belief, right? Most of the main events happened in the daytime, so the vampires wouldn't have been around. Maybe for the stone rolling away from the tomb as the guards slept... in fact, that would explain the guards falling asleep against orders... someone else is gonna hafta write this one, though. It gives me the giggles. Many, many moons ago, someone called Shirley Maiewski wrote a Star Trek fan novel on this theme in which Christ died in Spock's arms. (I am *not* making this up.) It was called "Proof Positive," and provoked an incredibly funny satire by the Kalamazoo gang (Phil Foglio et al.) called "100 Proof Positive." ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 19 Feb 1996 16:42:43 -0600 From: Fire And Life Incarnate <NSHEA4371@a.......> Subject: Re: Your opinion on a Letter Date sent: 19-FEB-1996 > >I have written a letter to Ms. Onoyoma of Sony USA. Don't get me wrong, I think that she definately has a problem with the killing, but I think her *biggest* problem is with Nick's waffling. Backsliding is inevitable, but he seems unable to decide anymore if mortality is really what he wants. But he won't call off the search and return to the fold; instead he (and by virtue of that fact, she, as well) finds himself in perpetual limbo.---And I think that makes her crazier than anything else. All his "Yes I want it, but no I'm not going to stick with it" stuff would make me crazy too. LC, on the other hand, even though she doesn't like want he stands for, she at least knows *where* she stands. Not only that, he is a challenge in a completely different way than Nick. Not that I am a Valentine, but as a Natpacker who would like to see Nick (or even someone else) bring Nat accross, I think that Nat and LC could go head-to-head in a way that Nick and LC never could...of course it would first be necessary to level the playing field. And the only way to do that would be to make Nat a vampire. And like I said before, maybe all she and Nick need is a little time to really be together and then she could get him out of her system and move on...by that time LC could be just the sparring partner she needs. Just my not-so-humble opinion. LaCroix has been faced by someone he cares about not embracing his outlook for centuries now, and it certainly hasn't driven him away, quite the opposite, in fact. It's Nick who runs away because LaCroix won't share Nick's views. This is exactly who I think LaCroix and Nat are made for each other. I think Natalie has proved pretty conclusively that she has the loyalty and the stick-to-it-iveness to stay with someone she doesn't necessarily agree with, someone she may fight with all the time, just because she cares. And that's just what LaCroix needs. And, Natalie certainly deserves to finally have somebody who can be completely interested in her, who won't pull away. She could get just as >enchanted with the power and immortality as others who have been >brought over, or embrace the bloodlust. And isn't this exactly what Nick is afraid of, especially considering his track record with "children." Nick always expects his "kids" to have the same morality as he does, but he forgets that it took him how many hundreds of years to want to change? He forgets what it was like early on, to have the cravings and urges be so strong. Take Richard, for example, he wasn't really an evil vampire -- he killed only the bad guys after all -- but he was drunk on the new found powers. Nick could have tried to lead him, but he was just too guilty about having brought Richard over in the first place to be affective. Nat would definately rebel if LaCroix were to bring her across. She'd be pissed and may even try to take it out on him and end up getting herself staked. Vachon is definately the right choice to bring Nat across. He's there for a bit of friendly advice, but all in all he lets you be. Besides, she's definately got the hair to be a Vaquera. Tiger Lily (bonnie@o.......) If they are, do you think they'd be willing to write "We wish for a fourth season of Forever Knight" (or the appropriate equivalent) on a long paper streamer? We could then make that the centerpiece of the mobile (I've seen similar things before) and add the names of everyone who contributed (in English) on the end of the streamer..... Anybody object to this idea? Sharon Himmanen asked: >Could someone explain the mobile part of this? According to Viper (who asked his parents) for the 'wish' to work, you have to string the 1000 cranes into a giant mobile. Otherwise, you don't get your wish. And as for 'where to ship': Viper is in New Jersey. Bonnie is on the west coast (I believe). So, if you live EAST of the Mississippi, e-mail Viper (off list!) for his address. If you live WEST of the Mississippi, e-mail Bonnie for *her* address. I've had lots and lots of responses, so I'm confident we can get *at least* 2000 cranes together for two mobiles. Will the people who are keeping AOL and Prodigy (CIS contact has already contacted me) and any other services I've forgotten informed, please private e-mail me, so I can send you a "Fourth Season Wishing Cranes" post to put up there? I'm still not a Natpacker, but I finally had a chance to watch "Undue Process" last night. This is the episode for which Catherine Disher has been nominated for a Gemini award, right? Anyway, she was terrific. I cried. So the first half of post is dedicated to you Natpackers out there. For Jamie MR, the Webgoddess and Queen of the Warm Fuzzies (are you back from Toronto yet?): I found a quote for your .sig file, or a T-shirt, or a button, which was just *destined* for you. It's from the second season episode "Father's Day." Natalie (in a tone of mock disgust): "Oh, oh, please, you're making me feel all warm and fuzzy inside." You'll just have to go back and watch the episode to get the context. <g> For Lisa Reeves <ad483@d.......>, who asked: > What's up with Natalie's hair? .... > The latter part of the 3rd season it's been down, and hanging in her > face. Literally. That would bug me even if I wasn't digging in gunk. The problem is that in the second season episode "Capital Offense," Natalie dropped a hair scrunchie (hers?) down the drain at the morgue. I guess she hasn't had a chance to wash it yet. Or she just decided the risk of repeated scrunchie-clogs in the drains was too great. ;^) Did I spell "scrunchie" right? *Is* there even a correct way to spell "scrunchie"?? On a completely different note, here's a few possible additions to the list of Top Ten Reasons to Be a Knightie: - Big screen television - Angst. Lots of angst. You can even angst about the fact that you spend so much time angsting. - No one expects you to exert any self control whatsoever - "Dogpile on Nick!" (the obligatory War 5 reference....) Well, the list would go on, but most of the remaining reasons have to do with how great Nick looks when he furrows his brow, looks guilty, grins, smiles sadly, wakes up sweating blood, gets lost in a flashback while driving, vamps out, de-vamps, opens the blinds during the daytime and broods while staring at the rays of sunlight, tries to stop himself from guzzling a bottle-o-blood and (of course) fails, tries to stop himself from chomping on someone's neck and (barely) succeeds, gets that incredibly sad look in his eyes that just makes you want to cry..... She said she called 7 times, each time emphasizing that it was imparative that she speak with Ms. Polley TODAY, and at the end of the day she called again and was told that she had gone home. So we are currently operating under the premise that TriStar owns all rights to everything FK and that we are not going to be able to use clips in the commercial (I think I already might have posted that). Colin has offered use of his printer so we can get a good copy of Jamie's Web Site. Thank you Colin. Oh, Jamie, I don't have your e-mail address on hand, can you please e-mail me privately...I need explicit permission to use your Web Site in the commercial. Thanks. So far I have had pledges for approx. $150 dollars, thank you to everyone. So far my sister and I have managed to scrounge up another $200, so we are shooting for the 2 Highlander/2 FK package at KOFY, even though it is pretty pricey. We'll also go for probably two spots at the Santa Rosa station (they cover seven counties). Also, the responses I've gotten about local syndies have contained a few questions I think everyone probably needs to know, so when looking into getting air time, Kira needs to know the following (and she needs to know it soon): 1. Call letters and channel 2. Station address and phone number 3. FK air time 4. if there is any local (or semi-local) number people can call to get more SOS info. 5. She needs to know what size tape the station operates on, standard one inch, or three-quarter (most run on standard, but there may be the occasional odd-ball that uses 3/4). When it comes to local syndies someone in the area is going to have to handle this. Kira can FedEx you the tape, but you have to make arrangements with the station. Find out the costs, take it in for them to pre-view, the whole nine yards. Kira is going to have voice mail hooked up this week on our line, so we will have a Bay Area number, but unfortunately there are over half a dozen area codes in the greater San Franisco area so it is going to be long distance for some paople no matter what. Tami has also graciously volunteered her faxing services should we need them. Other than that, Kira also wanted me to pass on that during her meeting with the local syndie last week, the manager emphasized the importance of maintaining pressure on the sponsors, especially the national ones. Well, I guess that is all for now...with all of this, I don't feel much like a newbie anymore. As usual, any questions, comments, suggestions, pledges (*only* if yo've already contributed to Laurie), you can e-mail me privately. (I'm not using the "/" to mean "slash" in this case!) I think Nat and Lacroix would make a great Daughter/Father pair for the same reason that Nick and Lacroix make a great Son/Father pair. Everyone involved needs a challenge. Yes? Nick: he needs the challenges of becoming mortal again as well as the challenge Lacroix constantly presents. Nat: she needs the challenge of turning Nick into a mortal again. Lacroix: he needs the challenge of making Nick see things his way. In other words, all three of these characters need *impossible* goals. They're at their best when they're fighting the odds. Sick, ain't it? None of these folks are content with mastering badminton or gourmet cooking. Noooo, they want to do the impossible, dream the undreamable! If Lacroix brings good ol Nat across, she'll be the kind of child that Nick is. She'll fight him and he'll love her for it (tho' he won't admit it). Janette always seemed to me to be more a sister to Lacroix than a daughter, even though she was his "offspring". She didn't have the big conflicts with him that Nick did. I'm not looking forward to Nick bringing Nat across. Jeez, talk about the ultimate Angst Fest! Nat: "Nick, how could you *do* this to me?" Nick: "Nat, I'm so sorry..." Nat: "I'm sorry too." Nick: "And I'm sorry that you're sorry..." Bleh! They'd spend all eternity sobbing. Anyone else starting to think the axe was being hoisted a long time ago and that Sony/TriStar has been determined to cut the show at three seasons regardless of anything that could happen from fandom? That the collective Sony/TriStar powers had already decided to dig in their heels on this, ignoring all efforts? Would explain a lot, such as the thwarted buyout and the total lack of response from TriStar to letters, etc. Not that I don't want to see a turn around on this as much as the rest of you!!!! I'm writing letters right along with you, beloved listfolk! But TriStar's attitude has all the earmarks of a little child who has determined that he/she does not want something no matter how much pleading or how much the parents cajole or try to trick him/her. We're talking whining petulance here! Marcia Tucker ScFiMarci@a....... I'd have to disagree. Nat is more the no-nonsense type who'd accept what came to her. Whining just isn't her style, though she might (BIG might) try just as hard to find a cure as Nick does. Btw, is it possible to be a Cousin and a Valentine? I kinda like the idea of Nat & LaCroix getting together. I'm so glad the origami crane idea appeals to everyone! Glad I mentioned it since I'v been feeling depressed about my lack of success/involvement with the SOS-Fk campaign. I got nowhere calling the press, I don't know enough people to bring someone across (see?! I have no life), I can't donate blood because of weak veins and a really bad experience with doanting a couple of years ago. About all I've done is write a few letters and donate money to PAF and Laurie. I feel better now:) BTW another good vampire book is "The Silver Kiss", forgot the author, it's juvenile fiction but quite good and well written. A Mc Iremi@a....... I admit to watching Letterman *only* for the Top Ten Lists on occasion. I can't resist jumping into the fray here (the Knightie in me, always wants to belong) but I know my fellow Knighties will likely have better ones than these! (Okay, I just saw that someone else did a Knightie Top Ten - adding this before I send it - but here's mine anyway) Top Ten Reasons You'd Really Rather Be a Knightie: 10. Get to ride in that cool Caddy 9. Unlimited access to Nick's high-tech dungeon of doom (i.e. the loft) 8. You also get access to the Raven (Nick's dad's place!) 7. You get to play with Nick's TV and computer stuff (wonder if he has a Greatest Archeological Finds screen saver? Or, if he can keep it from Nat, History's Most Beautiful Women screen saver?) 6. You're on the side of the good guys or at least the side of the vampire who uses his powers to catch bad guys 5. You get to tease Tracy as much as she can stand it or more (more! See MBIAV) 4. Access to the red dressing gown and black satin pajamas of Nick's 3. Remote control heaven (take that! - click!) 2. Possibilities of catching Ger shirtless (essential part of Knightie credo) 1. Nick (sigh) And, to be fair: Top Ten Reasons You'd Really Rather Not Be a Knightie Though You Are Anyway: 10. Angst 9. LaCroix 8. Flashbacks while driving 7. Having to listen to 3rd Season Natalie (sorry!) 6. Inability to listen to Tracy and drive at the same time 5. Inadvertent guilt trips 4. Mood swings 3. Wait, these are reasons I'd rather not be Nick! Or are they? In that vein, let me continue! 3. Protein drinks 2. Really bad luck 1. The loneliness Now, I'm depressed! But that fits with being a Knightie, so what the hey? I *like* being a Knightie!!! And if I started on a list of all the things I like about Nick, I'd never finish. So, 'nuff said. Marcia Tucker ScFiMarci@a.......
