Actually, it's the closest thing I can come to an accurate description of
the time Caile and I created the phrase. We were (and still are ;) the
most arrogant (if not obviously so) S.O.B.'s we know when it comes to
being Cousins.

Didn't anyone read my post about the ettiqutte of apologizing? One apologizes
for an offense but says "excuse me " for an inconvenance. Everyone on this
list, for the most part, is polite but I don't think it's neccessary to
castigate oneself to the entire list because of a slip of a spoiler or a
boo-boo because a private note got sent by mistake. It's ok to make a mistake
but self loathing is excessive.

I'm glad to see Alora's posts regarding phone calls, etc. I don't know
about anyone else, but it really helps me when others report what they've
done. Tomorrow (DEEP breath) I'm going to call my local syndicated
station (the one whose phone number I've inadvertantly memorized and for whom
I baked chocolate chip cookies, delivered while warm) and I'll pin her
down as to calling JF for a fourth season.

Also, my 55 friends (yes, that many) have their instructions for writing
again to Dear Rod and Dear Jon. Also, found 3 other FK fans this week by
mentioning the SOS-FK efforts, and they had another 4 friends they said
would write. I always carry my FK flyers (thanks, Maryann!) with me,
with local broadcast time/day. Also, the stamped postcards I pass out
have been effective to getting people to write right then and there!

Also, by passing out my FK (duplicate) tapes to co-workers I've brought
across two more fans to the show. This is instead of the party idea -
the best I can do.

Trying to keep the faith!

FK fans -- we believe in miracles and work hard to achieve them!

I got the impression that Nick did NOT bring Janette
across...the scream being his frustration at the whole
thing when he left her in the fire.

BUUUUUTTT, maybe the fire "reignited" or did something
to her chemically...maybe she wasn't TOTALLY mortal, as she
thought ...and it was HER fang marks on the arsonist they
found dead at the Civic Center.

Just my thoughts. Directing was good. GWD has done better.
LOVED Galen. He was terrific!!! And what was the deal with
Uncle's eyebrows???? Did makeup forget their Prozac???

While we never had "social science hour," we did have recess and years
later I found out that the boy that pulled my braids has had a crush on

Glad to hear it. It's good to know SOMEone is appreciating my "warped

I'd almost agree with you, 'cept instead of "discussion," I'd use the
word illusion when refering to a vampire int he scheme of things.
Besides, some mortals don't have the sense of social responsibility that
the rest if us "good citizens" have. So I guess we'll just have to
compare Uncle to the moral majority? Somehow that just seems so unfair.

Well of COURSE he won't act according to "our" morals. Emulating American
standards, puritanical as they are, would be so far fetched for
someone of his age and experience that it would be like telling
your great grandmother to go "log on to the 'net."

Subject: SOS: IMPORTANT NEW INFORMATION!

Variety OnLine (a subscription online service) ran an FK related article
over the weekend and someone passed this information on to Susan Garrett
(if anyone subscribes to Variety Online or regularly scans the Daily or
Weekly, get in touch with me ASAP--it might appear in the print version):

1. TriStar has officially and publically cancelled FK.

2. A third-party buy-out attempt was made and TriStar upped the ante. The
third party continued to bid, but TriStar kept upping the asking price
until the third party gave up.

There are a couple of possibilities for this

1. They're using the debt on FK for financial reasons (very likely)

2. They want to do something with Fk in future (unlikely)

3. They want to be rid of the series and us and this seems a good way to
sweep everything under the carpet.

TriStar has been getting attention and publicity from what we've been doing
and although they love the publicity the attention is something they do NOT
want.

No word on who the third party is or who the contacts on it might
be. WE NEED TO FIND OUT WHO THE THIRD PARTY WAS--THEY WERE APPARENTLY VERY
INTERESTED IN FK.

Here are some suggestions on what we need to do. I know we're all really
tired of the letter writing schtick right now, but we've got to convince
TriStar to sell the property.

1) let the syndicators know that a buyout was attempted for FK and TriStar
kept upping the ante until they refused (this means that the stations who
wanted a 4th season of FK have been screwed by TriStar . . . we'll get
mileage out of the annoyance factor).

2) keep hitting TriStar and SONY (particularly SONY) asking for an
explanation and a reconsideration. If they want to get rid of the show,
sell it--they'll get rid of us too and we won't hold grudges. Also remind
them that we're in this for the long run, that we waited 2 years for a
second season and that *we aren't going to go away*. This last is very
imprtant--if this is a bid to get rid of us, they have to know it's not
going to work. It also means that we're going to have to keep the letter
writing effort up for many months to come.

3) lets redouble our efforts on the sponsors, particularly for the
remainder of the season, *especially* during new episodes.

4) continue bringing your friends across and encourage them to write.
Force letters out of them by witholding tapes <g>.

5) VERY IMPORTANT. Renew *any and all* press contacts. We need publicity
for *our* movement, and we need a spotlight on TriStar for why they won't
sell FK.

We're working on tracking down the article, but this information is
reliable.

some new sponsor addresses to add later this week!!!

We're almost out of time. We need to pull out all the stops here!

I think she does have a faction title, but I don't know if she has followers.
I could be wrong! ;) Someone asked me this the other day and I started
making up things, some pretty darn silly. F'rinstance:

Goldilocks -- lookit her hair and see if you don't know what I mean!
Lollipops -- another referrence to the hair, as in Shirley Temple singing "on
the gooood ship Lollipop!"
Chanteurs/Chanteuses -- because she sang in a saloon.
Urs's Hearses -- just because it sounds neat when you also say "Reese's
Pieces"!

If anyone knows of the *real* faction name, let me know. I don't
particularly care to *join*, but my insatiable curiosity rivals a vampire's
blood thirst. ;)

Might makes right? Has everyone forgotten the Pax Romana? Yes, the Romans
were warlike, but with so many cultures only *this* far from the poverty
line, war was often a survival measure in that age. War then and now are
far separated.

Sorry, just had to stick up for my most honorable Uncle.

Ok, Sharon, before I was mad, now I am pissed. Do you have any ideas? I
can't think of anything (other than cranking out more letters, which I
will do) specific. But if you think of anything let me know ASAP.

I had to send this question to get my mind off of the Human Factor episode

Well, I must say, The Human Factor was a little hard to swallow, I hated
Janette as a mortal, but LaCroix's part was absolutely wonderful. It
made me go back and watch the earlier episodes in which LaCroix has
major parts. Twisted evil sense of humor, dark and wicked, if I didn't
know better I would say I just found the father I never knew. I know,
a twisted thought, but what can I say, Dracula was my childhood ideal.

But on to the point of this message, yes I have a point.
I am taking French and just happen to notice that "La Croix" means
"the Cross", as in crucifix. Was this done on purpose or just a
neat little accident?

Subject: Why become Mortal?

On Feb. 7, Vicki Merriman wrote:

There is no substantive moral difference between a vampire who doesn't
kill for his blood and a mortal.

The big difference is that a mortal isn't continually tempted to eat the
people he meets. (Well, okay, there was that one survivor of the Donner
Party -- the guy later opened a restaurant -- but he was pretty much
shunned for the rest of his days.) As long as Nick's a vampire, he knows
he's just one slip away from actually killing and eating the people around
him. And he regards that as murder and cannibalism, even though
LaCroix regards it as neither.

You may point out that lots of the younger vampires seem to subsist
solely on bottled blood they get at the Raven. But the older ones who
have spent centuries hunting and killing for their blood have the hunt
well-ingrained. (I bet even Vachon, whose only about half Nick's age,
still kills people for food occasionally.) Remember in Dark Knight, when
LaCroix was taunting Nick with "Who needs to kill anymore?" Nick told
him, "You do." In fact, LC had offed and slurped the museum guard just
the previous night. If Nick ever let himself off the chain to be a
"well-adjusted vampire" I'm sure he'd get to the point where he still needs
to kill, as well. It probably wouldn't take long, either. Look at the way
he reacted to the girl on the street in "The Fix," or even Alyce Hunter in
"Dark Knight." It's not easy for him to keep from killing, and it never
will be easy for him as long as he's a vampire.

First: I accidentally erased Sharon's (depressing) post about the Variety
On-Line article and TriStar's cowardly, back-stabbing, $&^%*#,
decision/behavior; can someone please forward me a copy?

Second: I have just amended the batch of letters I spent all afternoon
writing <trying not sink to thier level by lowering myself to name
calling...I wish I had a punching bag!>, I managed to keep them civil, if
a little on the blistering side...I tried to be nice, but...

Today has just not been my day, and TriStar trying to bully us into
silence pushed me too far. I am so pissed I am sitting here in the middle
of the night because I am too tense and angry to sleep...I'm sure my boss
will love me tomorrow. ;)

No angry letters to Sony in Japan, I swear. Nice, courtious; I doubt they
have any idea about the day-to-day business at TriStar, anyway.

I am officially obssessed...and really <insert explative> furious!

I HATE BULLIES! AND TRISTAR IS THE BIGGEST OF THEM ALL!!!

I'd say "rant mode off" but I suspect it will take a couple of days for
me to cool down...I'll get back to you then.

Anybody have any ideas, e-mail me ASAP. I am ready, willing and able to
start making major noise.

(Tonights letters to Jon "*&%*# Feltheimer, independents, 2 in the SF and
2 NY areas, and Sony in LA and NJ...tommorow I will get started on the "letter
to the editor" circuit. I'm gonna be out of stamps by Friday, damn...)

Okay, I swore I wouldn't post this on-list, but we're getting down to the
wire here, so here goes:

This is a copy of the letter I sent out to try and convince my syndicated
station, you know, the one who said "Well, there's nothing we can do to see
if the show is renewed or not"? Sound familiar to any of you? <G>. At the
bottom, I include the full snipped list of the responsive stations who said
they would or have asked for the fourth season, so that you can replace mine
with quotes from whichever you feel are the best (stations which might be in
your geographical area, or a competitor of the one to whom you're writing...

***********************************************
Dear {Program Director; Station Manager; etc.},

(insert your own appropriate intro paragraph)

Columbia/TriStar has stated that there is a strong chance they would produce
a fourth season of Forever Knight, if enough local affiliates request one.
The following words come directly from Columbia/TriStar's Publicity Manager,
Ms. Terri Johnson, in a telephone conversation with a concerned fan, Toni
Holm, on February 1st:

Toni Holm: "I then asked her what we could do to help TriStar with renewing
the show. (Johnson) said that 'it isn't just letters from the fans, you have
to keep getting the stations involved. They're the ones that have to demand
the show ..... the stations have a large voice' in what gets offered', and
they and the Nielsens will make the difference."

{insert name}, I ask respectfully that {insert call letters} as well as
yourself would take Ms. Johnson's words to heart. Columbia/TriStar want to
hear from local affiliates such as yours. I am including Ms. Johnson's
direct telephone number for your convenience. She can be reached at
000-000-0000.

WNYW and WPIX, two of the stations in the number one market (New York, NY),
have already asked TriStar for a fourth season of "Forever Knight", and they
are in good company:

WUHF (Rochester NY): "... a strong program for us in a difficult time slot
... one of the few programs we show that consistently results in viewer
comment, all positive ... We will most certainly be inquiring about this
program during our next round of programming purchases."

WBRC (Birmingham AL): ".... Joanna Bellinger, Program Manager ... said that
Forever Knight is the best syndicated show they have, and that it is her
NUMBER ONE priority to get on the schedule for next season. She says she has
already instructed her rep to Las Vegas (NATPE) to "pursue this aggressively"
with the Tri-Star folks and to make sure that they know how well it is doing
here and how much they want it!"

And there is the tale of KPDX (Portland OR), which recently moved FK to
Friday mornings at 4:30--- without the loss of a single ratings point.

WBDC (Washington DC), KDAF (Dallas TX), WKYW (Philadelphia PA), WGNT
(Virginia Beach VA), WBBM (Chicago IL), WTVG (Toledo OH), WBNS (Columbus OH),
and WKEF (Dayton OH) also say they have called Tri-Star about a 4th season.

{ } , can {call letters of station} afford to miss out on what the
people at these television stations already know? Please consider giving a
call to your Tri-Star representative and inquiring after a fourth season of
Forever Knight. The above stations feel they can make a difference in this
matter. The {insert your geographical area} Forever Knight viewers would be
extremely grateful as well. If you wish more information on the Save Forever
Knight campaign, please feel free to call {select favorite "point person"
from press releases, available on the FTP site, whichever one might be less
long-distance for your local syndie} is one of the "point people" listed in
the Save Forever Knight press releases, and will be glad to answer any
further questions you might have. Thank you very much for your time and
attention.

Sincerely yours,

{and don't forget to sign!}
