I have been reading the posts of the interesting things you people are doing
regarding the Ger Wallpaper, sounds, etc. I would like to get into this
myself, but have no idea where you all are getting this from. And I don't
really understand how to do it. So if some kind soul out there could
**PLEASE** e-mail me off list and give me some detailed info on how I can go
about doing this, I would be ETERNALLY grateful!!:):)

All this stuff about calenders has me thinking(yes I can do that when I
really put my mind to it.<G>) We could make one. Another club I'm in did
one with illustrations. We could have one overall FK calender or make a
challenge out of it and each faction could make there own.

Subject: Rules of the FORKNI-L list

Hi, all! It's time for a FORKNI-L list rules post!

This is not an exhaustive list of rules, just a recap of some recent issues
that have come up...

These rules exist because some people pay by the line for e-mail, and
because excessive amounts of mail can do nasty stuff to the listserv
machine-thingie.

1) No sigs over five lines long. That includes ALL text and artwork. (If
it's any consolation -- those of us whose mailers use proportionally-spaced
type can't see the neat little pictures anyway; it's just gibberish.)

2) Do not quote more than four lines at a time of someone else's post. (If
you need more, paraphrase.)

3) No "me too" posts! (If someone has asked for information that you would
like too, send private e-mail to that person and ask them to relay any info
they receive to you. Or if you simply MUST add a "me too" to someone's
comment... add something more as well; add something to the conversation.)

4) Do not post binaries or files to any of the lists.

5) To those who are having trouble w/inadvertently sending private e-mail
to the lists: when replying to list mail, check both the CC and the BCC
boxes of your mailer to make sure the listname isn't showing up there.
This is one of the main culprits of misposting. We all know what it's like
to have mailer trouble, but believe me, you will NOT be happy if something
truly personal goes to the list by mistake. (It has happened to me more
than once. It is not fun.) From what I've heard, the "Reply All" function
on Eudora and others can also sometimes produce unexpected results.

Hey, people make mistakes. We don't shoot you for that. <g> But
considering how much mail this list generates, it's important that we use
our bandwidth for FK discussion, rather than wasting it on filler.

Okay?

Warm fuzzies!

Time for a review of listserv commands! <g> If you're new to the list, you
might want to save this post for future reference.

To alter your subscription in any way, the address you want to use is:

listserv@p.......

When sending commands to the listserv, include ONLY THE COMMAND in the body
of your message. No sigs. (The body of the message is the part you're
reading right now.)

To set forkni-l to digest, the command is:

"SET FORKNI-L DIGEST"

but OMIT THE QUOTATION MARKS!
(Yeah, once you *know*, it sounds so simple... <g>)

To stop receiving all mail/digests from forkni, like if you're going away
for a week, the command is:

"SET FORKNI-L NOMAIL"

again, omit the quotation marks!

When you come back, and want to start receiving listmail again, the command
you use is this:

"SET FORKNI-L MAIL"

without quotation marks...

And to get a list of frequently-used commands and information, send this
command:

"INFO REFCARD"

(do I have to say it again? Take out the quotation marks!)

I have to bracket the commands in quotes in order to post them to the list,
otherwise the listserv will have a minor nervous breakdown. When sending
commands to the listserv address, do not use quotation marks!

FKFIC-L and FKSPOILR work the same way; just substitute the appropriate
listname.

If you've got a subscription problem that you can't deal with alone (even
after reading the INFO REFCARD), you can always contact me or Don Fasig
(phase3@g.......) for assistance.

Hope this helps!

Well, I managed to work in the SOS efforts as an example of the

Subject: Calendar (a real one)

I keep reading very... *interesting* messages with "dream" calendars.
What creativity! What hormones!

Meanwhile all this Knightie has to do is look on the wall and enjoy her
Geraint Wyn Davies Fan Club calendar. It has one 8 x 10 color photo of
Nick from the night he was brought across (yep, with *that* nightshirt,
and it's unbuttoned so you can actually see his neck). It's signed by Ger
himself. :) The pictures on each month are just black-and-white scanned
shots available on the 'net, but they're fun to look at, too. My personal
favorite is September, in which Nick is looking angst-y and is about to
drink from a bottle-o-blood. Hmm, I just noticed that in the December
photo Nick is looking angst-y and is about to drink from a bottle-o-blood,
too, although it *is* a different photo. Gosh, could it be that Nick does
this a lot? ;)

Well, it's not fair to just gloat. If you're interested in getting this
real-life calendar, write to The Geraint Wyn Davies Fan Club, 0000
Xxxxxxxx Xxxx, Xxxxxxxxxx, XX 00000 USA. If you're in the U.S., you can
join the club for $16 and the calendar is $10. Checks payable to Rosemary
Shad. E-mail me off-list if you want more info (like prices outside the
U.S.).

And in *my* dream calendar, there would be pictures of the cast and crew
of FK holding warm fuzzies, chocolates, squirtguns, and toys sent to them
by their adoring fans. :)

And there would be photos from *fourth* season episodes in the calendar.

The latest amount of donations received have totaled : 850.00. For a grand
total of 5596.37. Remember this is the amount of money that I have actually
*received* in the PO Box. If your check is in transit, just be patient.
Remember, the total for all this was 8981.52.

I have been emailing people who have been kind enough to include their
addresses, or that I have been able to find out from querying FORKNI,
FKSPOILR and FKFIC-L. If you've sent money prior to February 1st and HAVE
NOT received a confirmation email, please PRIVATELY email me with your full
name (the one that appears on the check) and your email address.

The address to send contributions is:

SOS-FK

Don't forget to make the check out to Laurie C. Fenster.

The NATPE Bag offer came from Diane Echelbarger:

Diana Echelbarger
NATPE Goodies
[Address removed]

Remember, to get a bag you MUST SEND HER A SASE MANILLA ENVELOPE
SASE = Self Addressed Stamped Envelope

The SASE must not be larger than 8x11. If it is that's extra postage.
The SASE must have *at least* $.58 in postage on it. (If you don't feel
like standing in line at the Post Office, just put 2 32 cent stamps on it.)

If you live in Canada, postage for the SASE will be $.72 US (Approx $1
Canadian).

***Limited Time Offer***

For a LIMITED TIME ONLY, Diane is offering xerox copies of the EM article.
If you want this as well, your postage should be $.78 (or 3 stamps) if you
are in the US or $.95 (US Funds, or equ in Canada) if you are in Canada.

**** End of Limited Time Offer ***

Diane is also requesting that anyone who asks for a bag/brochure, and hasn't
*already* contributed to cover the NATPE expenses (bag fund and/or ad fund)
to mail at least a token $1 to the SOS-FK/FoFK PO Box. Costs are still not
covered and it seems only fair to her and myselft that if you want one, you
chip in *something* to pay for them.

If you've donate blood from January 15 - February 12th, remember to email
Bea Quindlen <OCaoin@a.......> with your name and location. She's

and you can get a badge that says "I gave my blood for Forever Knight". Be
sure and specify the FK character you want on your badge: LC, Nick,

Subject: NATPE bag Fund & EM Ad Contributions : Scams

I thought that I would send this under another message from the regular Fund
update. I've been receiving notes and email from people saying basically,
"I've sent money in but I hope you're not scamming me." I've even received
email from one person who said they weren't sending money because they KNEW
it was a scam. However, since this person was cowardly enough to use AOL's
ability to create/delete screen names, my response was bounced back.
Therefore, I bring it to the list.

In order for this to be a scam, it would mean that people from the West
Coast to the East Coast would be in on it. It would mean that I would pay
out money to a PO box just to collect the money in Virginia. Laurie CF in
NY would have to be in on it to use HER name for this. Cynthia Hoffman, in
California, would be in on it because she wrote the press releases and
delivered the money to the Pediatric Aids Foundation. AnneMarie Fitzgerald
and Catherine Siemann would be in on it because their names are on the press
releases that have gone out ALL OVER the INTERNET and BEYOND! Jamie M.
Randell (recently promoted to Asst. List Owner) in New York, would be in on
it because she's been doing the web pages for this effort.

If you have any doubt about whether this is a scam or not, then don't bother
to send money. That's all there is to it.

Laurie, Jamie, and I, as well as the countless others, have worked very hard
to bring this about. We've generated a lot of publicity within the industry
and now they know that we are not a bunch of fan*atics running around with
little fangs on. We are a bunch of thoughful *professional* mature (for the
most part) individuals, who have a decided liking for Forever Knight and
would like to see it continue into a fourth season.

If you have any doubt about supporting our efforts, then don't. I have
neither the time nor the patience to read more mail about whether this is a
so-called scam.

A hearty second to everything that Lana has said. And as the person
who laid out all the money, I find it particularly affronting. Anyone
want to see the bills? My cancelled checks? Send me a SASE. Not that
that's necessary. The results of our expenditures are, after all,
TANGIBLE. Anyone can take a look at the ad in Electronic Media. If
your magazine store doesn't have it, your library probably does. Even
if they don't, there are enough copies of it floating around which
someone would be happy to mail or fax to you if you asked instead of
criticizing. You think that EM donated that space to us, out of the
goodness of their hearts? I don't think so.

You want to see one of the bags purchased for NATPE? Ask Diane E. to
send you a NATPE bag, for the cost of the postage. She'll be delighted
to do so. And no, you don't have to contribute to the reimbursement
fund in order to obtain a bag. Diane and Lana and I and a consensus of
others simply think it would be nice if you did. Nice. But not
necessary.

If you want to think that what's going on here is a scam, imo that's
because it makes it easier for you to rationalize why you have no
reponsibility to participate. Thankfully, most listmembers are
possessed of both intelligence and generosity, and they know precisely
what is going on here. And they want to help.

I don't think this has been mentioned here yet....

Ohama appears in the OL episode "Mind Over Matter" as a
colleague of a doctor who's using virtual reality to
treat psychoses. The lead doctor is played by Mark Hamill.
Ohama's role is fairly substantial.

If I've correctly figured out Showtime's episode schedule,
this episode will air again next Sunday night. (They seem
to premiere an ep on Friday night, then run it again a week
Sunday later.)

Note that this is the U.S. Showtime pay-TV network, not
the Canadian network of the same name. But perhaps OL is
carried in other countries, too? (I mean the new shows,
not the first-season shows that are now in syndication.)
If so, please post the info here for other FK folks who
might like to see Ohama. (Along with some of the other
usual Canadian suspects who appear in OL, which is filmed
in Vancouver.)

Subject: Passage of the Heart & Paint Cans mailed out

Folks,
I just mailed out all the "Passage of the Heart" and "Paint Cans"
videos to everyone who ordered them so far. I took the opportunity
to re-watch "Passage..." and I really love this movie! Mr. Bennett plays
a British poet who has a long term affair with a Canadian author. This
is quite mainstream, and aside from the several, of course unintended,
FK double entendres, there is nothing genre-related in it. It is a great,
PBS (BBC--or, whatever the Canadian equivalent [pardon my ignorance]) quality
stage to screen, fare. THe female actors are wonderful and the play is
about their characters--the author and her disillusioned daughter. It is
about Art, Passion, and Family (all with capital letters), and the difficulties
in juggling and reconciling any more than two of those aspects of life at any
one time. Alan Spencer (NB's character) is a bit of a cad but Mr. Bennett
shows how Spencer's behavior is a reflection of his own struggles with
Art/Passion/Family/Committment/Discipline. Good show!
I hope those who ordered it enjoy it as much as I do. If more people
are interested in it, we (the Nigel Bennett Fan Club) may be able to do another
order of it and Paint Cans as well.

Mother Nature struck me down Friday by way of an ice storm and accompanying
power outage that lasted 3 days! I've already called my syndie (WGNT
Portsmouth, VA - very nice, by the way) and they won't be reshowing GVP
before April at the earliest. So I desperately need to get onto some sort of
mail loop for this episode. Take pity on me somebody. I'll pay postage both
ways if you want to lend a tape or pay for tape and postage if someone will
copy it for me. Please e-mail me privately.

That's a pretty good question, I was wacthing saturday cartoons
last week and on the show spider man, there is a vampire(won't go into
details) and spidy get's introduced to a vampire hunter. Well it turns
out that the vampire hunter is the son of a vampire who fell in love with
a women(who was later brougth across) her child(now hunter) is only half
vampire, he has the strenght of a vampire and agility, but he can
withstand the sun light and doesn't need blood, but his cravings for
plasma are growing. So mayby it could happen, wouldn't it be great?

I've been ignoring requests for tapes, because my list was too long
for a while there, but my list is getting pretty short now, so I'm
willing to add to it again.

I'd like to limit requests to first season Canadian (my tapes are a
little blurry, but watchable). If you're in the continental US, the
cost is likely to be $15.50 (if tape prices and postage don't go up
significantly; I have a feeling my list is going to get rather long).

Anyway, I now work for 'Lucent Technologies (Bell Labs Innovations)'
(one of the spin-offs of the old AT&T). And the new logo is a blood-red
hand-painted circle, brush stroke evident.
Hey! lets start a mail-in campaign to change it to Lucien Technologies --
just put a little more paint on the brush, and let it drip....

Subject: Half Vampire

I don't think the reference was to Hearts of Darkness. The protagonist
there had a multiple personalities, only one of which displayed vampiric
traits, rather than an incompletely brought over vampire.

More likely the poster -- sorry, I don't remember who it was -- was
thinking of Bad Blood in the second season. In this episode the leading
guest character, Liam O'Neill, had been rescued from a vampire attack
as a small boy in Ireland and treated with holy water by a priest. The
result was that O'Neill was more than normally sensitive to sunlight,
but he was not a vampire. He became an officer in the Dublin police
with a special interest in tracking down vampires.

Btw, there was some argument at the time as to whether or not the
abortive attack had also conferred immortality or at least extreme
longevity. I can't remember now who got the information, but the
attack was supposed to be in the 1950's, so O'Neill is still within
a normal lifespan.

Incidently, O'Neill was played by Catherine Disher's husband, Cedric
Smith.

Subject: Normal talk

Well, no, historically we don't talk much about sexual fantasies
(calendar or otherwise <g>) or cast butts. Now please don't get me
wrong -- I'm as capable of fantasizing as anyone else -- but I too
have been bothered by this tendency lately. It's probably at least
in part because we have at least one lurking cast member and known
conduits to some of the others, but we've always made a point of not
saying anything that you wouldn't want to be saying and turn around
to find that the cast member in question was standing behind you. Yes,
that has happened at cons.

Much of what used to be on Forkni-l now ends up on Fkspoilr, because
it relates to new episodes. However we have shown a tendency to get
into general topics over there. I suggest we try harder to move discussions
which have become general to Forkni-l.

Some topics have become worn out for longer term members, e.g. why
Fk vampires react to crosses, but that doesn't mean that the topics
can't be talked about. Come on, some of you lurkers, talk to us. Your
opinions count as much as the rest of us!

Another thing we used to talk about is, what would happen if situations.
E.g. would Nick really like being mortal if he had a chance at it?

For those of us who've considered unsubbing, and yes, I'm one, let's
try starting a new topic instead.

Ok, lurkers, over to you.

At this point, 95% of that discussion takes place on the spoiler list
(which is quite active) because new eps are coming out. Once we're into
reruns again, discussion will slowly move back onto the main list.

Until then, consider starting a thread yourself (or continuing someone
else's). If you mention it, they will discuss. :-) What do _you_ want
to talk about?
