I'd been kicking around ideas regarding why religious icons are a problem
for vampires (especially because I'm a proponent of the scientific approach
to explaining vampirism). Here's my theory. The vampire condition makes the
vampire *extremely* senstivie to stimuli (sounds, smells) and to energy
forces (that's why they can't tolerate the multiple energies of the sun:
light, heat, radiation, etc.). Religious items that carry the faith of the
believer are surrounded by a powerful psychic energy, and this energy is
strong enough to overstimulate the vampire's senses, thereby causing pain.
In "Fright Night," an offbeat vampire thriller/comedy movie, the vampire
notes that a cross is only an effective deterrent if the person brandishing
it has true faith. Perhaps this is true in the FK universe as well. A cross
(or other religious item) held by a faithless person carries no energy and
is harmless.

Not to get too far off-topic here, as a "younger" woman who, at 18, was
involved with an older, 39, man, not becuase of any of the above listed
reasons, I would beg to differ.
BTW: I can think of *atleast* on very distinct...<g> advantage to being
involved with an older man. (Last time I said that on a list I caused a
month-long battle...so: No offense to the "younger" men. But they don't
say "practice makes perfect" for nothing!)

I'm developing a story line for my very first piece of fanfic (for any
show, ever!). But I'm terribly disadvantaged, having begun to watch FK only
last December. I need to see the season 1 and 2 eps in order to produce an
accurate work. :-)
Is there anyone out there who will take pity on me and loan me these eps? I
will perform almost any act of appreciation, as long as it's legal and
moral. I don't have much to trade, but since I live in Atlanta, I do have
access to limitless 1996 Olympics paraphernalia if my benefactor should be
into that.
Help me? Please?

mother is fluent in Portuguese. So, here is the prologue in Portuguese.

But Nat handed Nick the raven knife, and Nick was still burned by it, even
though Nat wasn't Native American or even knew that the knife had religious
overtones. That's more or less why I say that the person who *conseecrated*
the icon must have faith, not necessarily the person holding it. A cross that
I buy at a Christian bookstore will probably not work, but one that has been
made sacred by a clergyman will, whether or not I even believe in God (which I
do, BTW)

I really don't know the legalities myself, but... as stated on the web

Wee. Not only did they misspell TriStar(TiStar), but it was short, not too
sweet, and I don't give a fig about their newscast(I watch another channel
for that).

I don't wish to be a stinker, but is this legal? If it is, then I would
suggest that we go to who ever has the rights to FK and get copies from them.
I can't believe that in this day and age someone actually didn't type this
on a computer. That way it would save a lot of time and work. If
the show indeed is going to be canceled (God forbid), then I don't see
the harm in putting the scripts into a ftp site for those interested in
reading episodes that we can't see (I'm cable-televison deprived).
Is any script worth something on the market for any show that has been canceled?

but unfortunately, can't afford to send a package of steaks
from Omaha Steaks... and don't know if something Husker-ish
would be too hokey.
Please let me know if you have any idea's, I could REALLY use
them! Pay day is about 7 day's away, and since the car will
be paid off and the hubby has left me in charge of all the
cash-flow in and out of the house <heh heh>, I'd like to help.

I was at the site last night, and there were a few that I had problems with
and simply could not play with SoundApp 4.X (I think it is either 4.3
or 4.5) or Brian's Sound Tools.
I'll put post a list of the files I had problems with tommorow.
I would be interested in suggestions for the use of the sound files during
certain system events with the files found under Nat, Nick, Janette, and
LaCroix. (Sorry I don't think I could stay sane with Schanke's voice on my
computer... but I did like his character).

Take the first letters of "LaCroix," "Vachon," and "Nick," and put
them together. Throw in a couple vowels, and you get "Lovin'"...
So how 'bout "Lovin' Ones"?
