For example, the Californian, a Leyland Lines ship, was anchored, just outside the now famous ice flow, for the night. This ship did not repond to the Titanic's radio calls for help because they did not have 24 hour radio watch. Sadly, this ship was minutes away. Clearly, Nick could have flown to this ship. A second ship, the Carpathia, responded to the Titanic's SOS (at that time the distress call was actually CQD--the SOS call, now standard, was brand new). The Carpathia, even sailing at full-speed, which she did, was 2 hours or so away. Again, with the Carpathia closing the distance at top speed, here was another chance for Nick to move toward it. Nick's surviving the Titanic, which he clearly did, without pushing the plausible is possible. It allows you to use video files, with or without audio, as screen savers. We used the clips from the Sony FK site. Disadvantage: this is a trial version which apparently looses some functions after two weeks. But you can always keep downloading the original file as long as it's on the site or just save the zipped file and keep installing from that, i suppose. Ours hasn't run out of time yet so we'll see. According to this flick, there was a large ship within binocular view of the Titanic after it was struck, but they didn't have a wireless and didn't realize the ship was in distress. This ship would have been within Nick's flying range. Another possibility that hasn't been considered is that Nick could have taken refuge in the iceberg. With his vampiric strength, he could have burrowed into it, the cold wouldn't bother him, and if he were below the waterline, enough of the sun's rays would be blocked that he could probably survive for a while. Breathing might be a problem (we still haven't established what a vampire's oxygen requirements are). Also, he would still be adrift in the middle of the Atlantic, without a food supply. However, he could wait out the daylight hours and fly away the following night, when there would be rescue ships in the area. Nick wore tight jeans fairly often during the first season. The costume designer that year dressed him in jeans, black leather, and fashion forward collarless shirts and stuff. I liked that wardrobe better than anything he's worn since. There was one episode that had an extensive mid-distance rear view; I don't remember the title. With an i. Join the club---Diane Echelbarger, Dianne de Sha, tell her. I CAN'T SPELL PEOPLE'S NAMES. :) There's a couple other people out there that I've had to apologize to on these grounds. Put it down to chronic flibbertigibbetness. Nothing personal intended, I assure you. And this IS a sincere apology. I'm really sorry I misspelled your name. I should be more careful. Well, whenever the hypothetical next War is, I vote it doesn't happen 'til after the Real Life War is over. Priorities are important. >Hmm..full body armor, eh? Well, in a metaphorical sense. Let's just leave it at trying to keep myself in one piece. And really Candice, I'm sure you can think of a better reason to want my head than one totally unintentional misspelling. But you can always keep downloading the >original file as long as it's on the site or just save the zipped file >and keep installing from that, i suppose. Yeah, re-installation works fine. There's another prog called apple quicktime for windows, it will do .mov and .jpg files just fine and I haven't run into any expiration probs yet. I've run it under win 3.11 and 95 so whatever PC ver of win you use, you're set. One note, on my old computer with a 486 DX 33 with 8 MB RAM and an Oak video and SB 16, sometimes the system would go nuts the next time I loaded windws, like IRQ on the sound card was wrong so no sound. I haven't had this prob yet in 95, so it could also be that I now have a P133 and 16 MB RAM so less virtual mem is being used. But as long as you can find the DOS SB setting files, you can just keep re-setting the IRQs, the Win ones don't change, it just conflicts with the DOS settings, but I think that since the files are so big, they tear up the memory environment. Making changes in DOS involves re-booting so DON'T shell out of Win to do this, and changing IRQ in Win involves re-starting windows, so don't do this unless you have everything you care about CLOSED. The purpose of the tape tree is to provide the balance of third season to those who can only see it through USA in their area. Period. Sorry if this sounds snippy, but I am not planning to organize means for you all to get first or second season. Post those requests to the list and hope for some kind soul to volunteer to help you. The people contacting me are willing to tape the balance of season 3. That's all I asked them to do. Please do not ask me to find the other seasons for you. I believe my reaction was, "yeah... I suppose they could cut out the Nick-lying-on-the-loft-floor-playing-chess scenes, but... <everything> else is important!". I sat there for a minute (DOW2) trying to think of things they <could> cut, and failed. Then I was informed of the scenes they <did> cut. Silence while I absorbed the info. <g> I'm just glad I've always seen the Can. version. From what I hear, the Euro version (with the possible exception of 'Feeding the Beast') probably wasn't worth it. <BG> Dawn h36a@u....... ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 30 Jan 1996 08:57:14 -0500 From: Jamie Melody Randell <immajer@p.......> Subject: TECH: E-Mail Nondelivery Notices <List-janitor mode "on"> Has anyone else been receiving strange E-mail Nondelivery Notices from postmaster@m.......?
