(No spoilers) OKAY, OKAY, OKAY! I get the picture. Yes, I *do* subscribe to the FK Spoilers list, and I read the (an?) FK newsgroup daily. My point was that I thought it would be nice to talk about the show itself--FK, which we all love enough to bust our buns to save. I just joined this list when I found out about the cancellation, so I apologize profusely if my "no spoilers" comments about "Fever" spoiled the episode for anyone, and if I broke the list rules. *Please* forgive me . . . I'm new here! It's just that every day my mailbox is filled with at least 150 list messages about donating blood, sending letters and care packages, etc.--which is all very inspiring and makes me happy--but it would be nice to see some talk about FK itself every once in a while, too. Someone flamed me for complaining about the lack of discussion of the show rather than starting a discussion myself. Well, my post asking when we could talk about FK *was* an attempt to start a discussion . . . and see where that got me? (See new newsgroup: alt.fk.cassie.flame.flame.flame) I don't mean to be combative, and I hope I'm not insulting anyone. But, please, someone tell me: if I can't post anything about the current season until it is in reruns, what *am* I allowed to write about on this list, anyway? (No spoilers) I watched Fever this weekend and thought it was a wonderful show, It is one of those shows that you can watch and truly think about. It is one defenitly not to miss. By the way, I am making some 700 flyers this week to send out to my clients of the place I work. They are all over Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, and California. I figured if any of them could help and would take the time to it would be great. I talked to most of them and they said at least they would be able to write a letter, I figure if even half of them do it, then it is already a big step. Plus, if they pass out more flyers then it would even be better. Keep your fingers crossed. Hi, all! This is the Strike Force checking in! The story so far: -Diane encountered a cabbie who was a fan! She told him that the show was being cancelled, and his reaction was "They're doing what?! But it's so good!!" He promised to go call the local syndie when he got off work tonight. See? We've already made an impact. :) -Toni and Diane literally got into NATPE this afternoon, and scoped out both the Tristar and Paragon booths. The Tristar booth is apparently HUGE, about twice the size of a hotel bedroom (the most immediate scale). They talked to the two very sweet ladies from Paragon, whose response to their gushing of thanks for FK was "Oh, yeah, that's popular down here, isn't it?" They had no goodies with them about FK (and were *very* apologetic about the fact), but Toni and Diane left a stack of flyers and we'll smuggle another box of bags and more flyers tomorrow, since they didn't actively throw us out, and just kind of kept nodding vacantly, like they were completely overwhelmed by their enthusiasm. -We now have several copies of the NATPE EM mag for those who have asked for them (and our ad looks *soooooo* *preeeeeeetty*... oooooh, aaaaah, gush gush gush. :) Very cool. They *will* be impressed.), and will get more tomorrow. -The LA contingent, a little the worse for wear after a 4 and a half hour drive, came in expecting to be folding flyers for a few hours, when much to our surprise, they were all done! Wow!!! Whoever helped fold those suckers, we are eternally grateful!! And thanks so much, Bonnie, for the cookies and the card! And thanks Apache and LaurieCF, for the flowers! They're beautiful! I tellya, man, I'll drive out and beat executives over the head anytime for this kind of treatment! :) -We had our strategy session while Strings was playing (okay, so it was on while we were giggling over all the stupid/zany/just plain wierd ideas we had for strategies... close enough :). - Oh yeah, and Diane wanted to make sure to mention her blood clots. :) Basically dried cranberries, usually I'm not one for the things, but they were really good! And they are very realistic blood clots. :) And Ribena, in a cute little vial that Diane stole from Father's Day (okay, I didn't remember the part, either, but apparently it's where Nick climbs out of the trunk, he pulls out a vial of blood and chugs. But I digress.). And the party favors. They had some Raven paraphrenalia, and little knick-knacks which were clues from different episodes. For instance, a small white ribbon rose, a little oval glass jewel, a string of pearls, a bit of floss, a paper umbrella, and a button. Anyway, try to name the episode which corresponds to the clue. I think collectively, we got a few, but I don't think we got some, even all together. -There are celebrities there, available to sign autographs. But don't get your hopes up, and suspend the jealousy. Examples are Tempestt Bledsoe and Ricki Lake. Wheee! Can my heart handle the strain? :) -Toni was brave enough to actually go into a Tristar reception and very casually wandered around, looking very much at home, popping flyers at all the tables where people were talking, expecting all the time for some security guy to come and drag her away. But they never did, and she unloaded a ton of flyers right then and there. We're hoping to do similar things tomorrow, if we can find anyone with half the guts to help Toni in her endeavor. Don't worry, we'll smile and shmooze our way in and out of there so smooth, they won't even know we're there. Especially when we look much more businesslike tomorrow. The bags and flyers look so professional, I can't believe it! We're all totally impressed. Okay, more tomorrow (god, expect a BOOK guys, we're going to have a lot to say)! Wish us luck! We'll be using this address for our netting! :) Later! Some correct information and some misinformation was posted in response. Several people responded, correctly, that immediately after an episode is broadcast for the first time, it can't be discussed here on FORKNI-L. There is a separate list, FKSPOILR, which was set up specifically for discussion of new episodes. One can subscribe to this list at the same listserv address and by the same procedure as one subscribes to FORKNI-L. FKSPOILR has been hot and heavy with discussion of Fever for about a week now. Where things got vague and confusing was in response to the question, "Well, when *can* I talk about the latest episode on FORKNI-L?" Someone posted that you have to wait until it is rerun. That is incorrect, unless there has been a rule change recently that I missed (since the traffic got so heavy, I have had to delete some of my digests unread). The listowners set up a blackout period for discussion of new episodes on this list, until everyone has had a reasonable chance to see it, regardless of what day their local station broadcasts it. Also there is a one week cushion added for people who tape the show and watch it later. I don't remember precisely what the blackout period is, but it amounts to approximately three weeks after the first satellite download of the program (which is the earliest opportunity to see the new ep, if you happen to have a dish). So, newcomers, if you wait three weeks after you have seen a new episode before you talk about it here, you won't violate a list rule or spoil any surprise for people who haven't seen the episode yet. BTW, *any* discussion of the content, even, "This was a really good episode," has to wait until the blackout period is over or if you can't wait, be posted on FKSPOILR. Listowners, please correct me if I have said anything inaccurate.. I dragged my best friend and husband to the blood drive and made them give. and my dad and some of his friends are giving when they where told about the cause. also, do you know it counts if you even tried to give blood. I am dying of testites, the condition you get when you have too many tests! nine in seven days, and homework too. (Jaye maybe it's time to repost list topics. There seem to be a lot of newbies now.) 1) Any specific episode from the first 3 seasons, EXCEPT Strings and Fever, which are still under spoiler protection. (Please someone tell me if this is incorrect. Recent posts have confused me.) 2) Any speculation, observation, comment on *FK* Vampires and their world /relationships (not vampires in general, tho. That goes somewhere else.) 3) Any comments/discussion on fiction read on FKFIC-L or any questions that need to be answered for someone in the throes of writing FK fan fic. 4) Notices of shows/movies where the actors/actresses of FK can be seen in other roles. This does NOT includes comments on their personal lives. That's their business. 5) Notification of FK merchandise, articles, publicity. 6) Notices of FK get-togethers and related "quote lists" (although this one has gotten some complaints on length from listmembers who pay by the line and don't live in the party area) 7) Discussion of time periods/costumes/diseases/whatever that are introduced in an FK ep 8) And, yes, efforts to Save Our Show, which is on the top of everyone's list right now. After all, we need those new eps to give us something to talk about *next year*. A Recasting of 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit' Eddie Valiant - Schanke Jessica Rabbit - Janette ('I'm not bad; I'm just written that way. No, wait aminute, I *am* bad.') Deloris - Nat Judge Doom - LaCroix Baby Herman - Stonetree (with aopologies to Stonetreeites - but can't you just *see* it?) Benny the Cab - the Caddy My only real problem is that, as a Knightie, I cannot recommend casting Nick as Roger Rabbit.
