Subject: FKFIC guidelines?
Hi, everybody. I know a lot of you have the conference and FK's survival on
your mind, but I'm new to the FK lists and have a couple questions.
Is there a general agreement of how large a chunk of text folks are willing
to swallow in a single list posting to FKFIC? (I've read the posts
suggesting keeping lines to under 75 characters.)
I'm aware that the FKFIC list is supposed to be PG-13ish. But I'm not quite
sure what the boundries are there. Is a passing mention of "private parts"
(a little more specific than this) out of line? How about a suggestion that
someone has just engaged in oral sex?
Is there a FAQ that covers all all this? If so, where can I find it? Or
could someone send it to me?

For those who haven't seen it (and I only caught part of it, darn it)
it's a vampire in a coffin - with cheezy fangs - who's got a bad
cought. He reaches out of the coffin - you see a shot of fingers
creeping under the lid - and snags the bag of Ricola cough drops on
the table. It may not sound like a hoot in the descrip, but after
reading through some vamp stuff, it's DEFINITELY a hoot. Now if
they'd only put that commercial in FK...<giggle>

Just FYI, Lana didn't put a stipulation that you had to give on
Saturday in order to get the "I gave blood for Forever Knight" card.
So for those of you who missed Saturday but will still do it (I'm
thinking of a certain Merc, now) ... *do* send your receipts to Lana and
specify the character whose photo you want (the Nat cards say at the
bottom, "Natalie would approve").
But whose photo will a Merc want, I wonder?

Subject: What's up with USA?
I just saw one of the really nice commercial promo's for FK on Highlander
tonight. It was 30 sec or 1 minu(I'm not very good at judging times but it
was one of the longest I've seen). It was a general FK promo, not for a
specific show and ended with on USA on Tues at 8pm ET.
If USA is cancelling the show, then why are they promoting it?
And in an unrelated FK sad moment - On Lois & Clark tonight, L &C walk by a
Souvlaki stand with the word in big letters. Made my heart pang with sadness
for Schanke.

I don't think this posted so I'm sending it again. Another in a long line of
glitches for the week of 1/15-1/21.
Don't bother calling Rod Perths office at USA. The operator I got was
unbelieveably rude. I got no where with SSA office even though Mr. Russell
was nice he was good for nothing and I never got thru to Parriotts office. I
don't know how anyone got any information, all I got was the big fat
corporate run around. It's a wonder I bother with TV at all anymore.

if they do, perhaps they want to join me in a big-time "peppering" of flyers
ASAP. I'd be willing to bring the flyers (have some raring to go). Let me
know . . .
And incidentally, Charles will also get a present, if I can help it. Most
likely, since he's a male, it will be food <VBG>. *Anyone* in the area who
wants to contribute, *please* let me know (again ASAP) so we can try to
coordinate this and other efforts. Thanks.

Actually, it was supposed to be the entire FK Appreciation WEEK. If you
gave at all during that week you'd get a badge. It probably wasn't made
very clear because I was comatose with medication that the doctor said would
make me "a little" sleepy.
However, since Laura has committed me...
If you give blood by Feb 12th and send me a copy of your receipt and a SASE,
you will get a badge. Be sure and specify your favorite FK character.

I have both written and called my local FOX affiliate, which
carries FK in syndication. The letter has never received a
response, and I wrote three weeks or so ago. I called the
station last week prior to NATPE, asked for programming, and was
left to put my message on voice mail requesting they ask for a
fourth season and support the show. Again, no response at all
from the station.
Last year I did receive a letter, albeit a form style one. And
they did return my phone call. Am I the only Detroit area
person contacting WKBD, and do they therefore think I'm a
nuisance? I know Betsy, Maureen, Amparo (at least) should have
been in touch with WKBD. Anybody out there have a different
experience with these folks?

syndicates FK in Dallas (KDAF). A brief transcript of the letter I

If _Forever Knight_ is offered for the 1996-97 season it will be on
WB 33's schedule. Is is an important part of our lineup. We know

Columbia-Tristar. We have been told by Columbia that it looks good
for another seasnon in syndication. We will be at the NATPE (my
abbrev) next and should get the final word.
I know that there is an active _Forever Knight_ group on the
Internet. You may want to encourage fans of _Forever Knight_ to
write Columbia Tristar and let them you know you want the show back.

Sounds like a possibility to me. The station that carries FK in Atlanta
(WAGA-5) is a Fox affiliate, so we can probably assume Fox isn't set
against it.

Sharon, thanks for the good news about the two NYC stations both pushing for
a 4th season. That's a Major boost!
On CompuServe's SF Media Two forum, the Save FK blurb was the top news flash
for the entire weekend! (That is, whenever you logged on the forum, it was
the first thing you saw.) The assistant sysop who agreed to put it up even
used my plaintive E-mail as the text of the flash. <g> Presumably because of
the news blurb, the number of downloads of the Save FK FAQ has more than
doubled since Friday.

Yes, that was her -- when I talked to her on the phone she said that she
had had trouble getting a screen name that AOL would accept and she tried
so many that she couldn't remember off-hand what it finally took except
it was SYoung78xx. The Oakland Tribune is a part of the Alameda Newspaper
Group which covers quite a lot of households in the Bay Area.

the sci fi club I belong to had an unofficial fk day on sat.
I say unofficial because the clubs controler wouldn't let us watch fk,
because it was DR. who month. Hardly anyone knew about the cancelation, so I
clued them in. I put out flyers
that I printed on hot pink paper. I printed a hundered, and by the end of
the meeting they where all gone! (We only had twenty people there!)
I took up a collection, and the clubs sending flowers to the crew of fk.
(Word to the wise, flowers in canada are expensive, very expensive)
but, after sat, I don't think that the local syndi channel will say that
they show fk in the middle of the night because no one has showed intrest
in it!

Hello, all (and esp. Laurie C.F.)--
I ghosted the mailroom this AM until the magazines were delivered--and there
it was, the Special NATPE issue of Electronic Media. For those of you who
have just joined us, that is the ish of EM with our full-page "Save Forever
Knight" advertisement in it.
The ad sparkles on the page in all its B&W glory--Page 121, on the right side
of the spread--let's all thank Paul DaCruz, this is very good placement, esp.
since this was so last-minute! The ad looks, if I *do* say so myself,
professional! A huge THANK YEW to Jamie for coming up with that cool "Knight"
logo--it adds that touch of 'hey, we're pros, look out'! It *makes* the ad!
(Would somebody hit me to make me stop using so many exclamation points?!)
Our 'Save FK' ad definitely stands out amongst the full-color clutter of ads
for various TV shows--thanks also must be given to Jay Bernasconi, the IQ&J
art director who helped me by critiquing each new incarnation of the ad,
sharpening it up, making it better & better-looking. I am so proud, I just
patted my Mac on its little monitor for being so clever--let's all just hope
the advert proves an effective one.
Other Electronic Media stuff to look for, should you get hold of a copy: Nice
X-Files ad--but it looks like slim pickin's for syndicated shows this year,
most of the ads were for daytime talk shows, shows that have been out for a
few years (like X-Files), very old stuff like '3's Company', and various
lack-luster new shows that do not interest one at all. There's a great
editorial on one of the back pages about having to start giving the people
what they *want* (apparently, these days, the Art of the Deal is more
important than actually putting on TV shows people want to watch -- quelle
suprise.)
I did not see the article about the Save FK movement that an EM reporter was
writing--it will probably be in the next issue of EM, as the reporter himself
noted might well happen. Or I missed it--but I don't think I did.

Subject: NB on Matrix: nice cringing, Mr. Bennett!
I managed to catch most of the episode of "Matrix" in which Nigel Bennett
guest stars. It was shown today on the Sci-Fi Channel. Nigel plays Dr.
Anders, an evil psychiatrist. (Are there any psychiatrists on TV that
*aren't* evil?) Most of the time he is the type of menacing character
we've come to expect and admire. (He does them *so* well, doesn't he?)
However, halfway through the episode someone starts shooting at him and
Dr. Anders completely falls apart. Nigel does some very believable
cringing and simpering. :)
The Cousins would be horrified! :) :)
2nd best part: Nigel's character ends up being sucked into the fires of
hell!
Best part: Yellow-tinged Q-tip hair!
Umm, Mr. Bennett, if you're reading this, I say all this with the utmost
admiration. Really. <gulp>

You Know You've Been Watching Too Much Forever Knight When...
...you have a dream (which is a landmark occasion to begin with) in which
you and Janette are trying to help, and at one point find, a scientist
who's specialty is the Upper Cretaceous period.
Don't ask me why the Cretacious period. When I looked it up, the entry
said: Noting or pertaining to a period of the Mesozoic era occurring from
70,000,000 to 135,000,000 years ago and characterized by the extinction of
the giant reptiles and the advent of the modern insects.
The really... disturbing... element is that if I was helping her, I must
have been Nicholas. An unusual position for a Cousin at best.
And don't ask me what I said to Janette to involve her. It must have been
*real* good whatever it was.

Yes, it's only about 4 lines at 9 point font; yes, they placed it under
"All day" instead of "all week" (you must picked either of those or a
specific time when submitting your event); yes, while they heeded my "case
sensitive!" order, they inserted spaces in between words ("Cuzn Jami M
R.... Forever Knight...") BUT a) it's the first event listed; a) most of
those readers with net access will (hopefully) know to eliminate spaces
and, when they visit, will find this an ongoing drive and c) this
provides MUCH MORE exposure than 40 flyers on campus could ever manage!!
Woohoo! i emerge from my deep blue funk invigorated!
