Why not ask Fox? Even though they do have another vampire series in the
works that doesn't mean they would have no interest in FK. Lots of
networks have more than one cop show, doctor show, talk show (gag, puke),
etc. If they picked up FK they would pick up a HUGE fan base with it.
This would definitely help their new vampire series (The Kindred ?) if
they were just slightly clever about it's time slot; before or after FK
would be wise.

Just imagine looking at your TV guide and seeing FK right after (or before)
X files. Fox would destroy all other networks in the ratings wars,
including USA.

Rod Perth told me USA plans to strip FK with 66 episodes. He
said this included the first season episodes. I didn't ask, however, if
this meant USA as opposed to its subsidiary, the SciFi channel.

That's a fact. This part is a guess: remember, Perth is the one
who put FK in CBS's Crime Time after Prime Time lineup; he also was the
exec most personally responsible for getting Letterman over to CBS, so he
left that network smelling of roses. It would make sense that they'd sell
him, as Pres. of USA, the rights to rerun the first season.

However, that was back in December. Matters have changed --
Forever Knight is going to film a whole third season, even without USA's
money, which means there will be a total of over 70 episodes available for
syndication, depending on who holds what rights. That could well alter
the future syndication picture for FK, and may alter what either USA or
CBS wants to do with its own share of the rights.

Pretty much of a non-answer, I know, but all I know.

Subject: Peri, vampire pooch at WAL-MART!

Hello all,
I was at WAL-MART yesterday when I walked by the optomiterist store and
they had on a display a small stuffed gray dog with fangs and wings. It the
cutest thing I have seen in a long time.
IT supposed to be a gargoyle but trust me, it ain't. My friend tried to
buy it but it was the only one they had and not for sale. My friend and I
looked at each other when we left and said "It's Peri, the vampire dog!", then
proceded to get hysterical. Yes, now most of WAL-MART thinks we're strange.

So, now we have Vachon, the stuffed cow, Scottie's frogs and Peri, the
vampire dog at WAL-MART.

Yes, I know I need help. :)

Die Hards are those listmembers who adamantly refuse to limit their options
to any one character. We prefer to leave ourselves open to appreciate the
"qualities" (physical and otherwise) of any character who catches our eyes.

Of course, being a Die Hard doesn't mean that you can't belong to a

Here's some more good news from NYC.

Both WNYW *and* WPIX (who showed it last year but had to drop it when it
went to cable because it's a Tribune station) will be asking for a 4th
season of FK at NATPE.

That's right--*two* stations in the number 1 market will be asking.
Hopefully TriStar will get the wake-up call.

Hi all. I'm a third-season newbie, and though I've read a lot of the
critiques on the web page, I'm still not clear on all the FK characters'
background. Here's what I want to know:

Does Nat know who LaCroix is and that he's Nick's master? If so, when did
she find out? I read that in season one there was a Valentine's Day episode
where she met LaCroix but then had her memory of the episode erased. Did
she ever have occasion to meet him again or discuss him with Nick?

Also, has Nick ever *told* Nat that he loves her, in so many words? Has Nat
ever told Nick that she loves him?

Thanks for background!

Ah, true. And I'd forgotten about the Crimea comment. Trouble is, this now

Subject: NATPE: Final update!

Well, the NATPE 7 are ready to hit the road Tuesday!

Driving arrangements made, tickets bought, hotel secured....

and 10,000 bags and 18,000 brochures on their way!

We will have TWO laptops with us, at least one of which has 'Net software, so
we should be able to keep y'all updated.

Any positive energy you can spare should be directed to us between 10am and
6pm, PST, Wednesday. That's when the Convention Center will be open.

I'll be off-line and non-computer accessible after 8pm, CST tomorrow. The
friend who's driving me to the airport lives half-way to Milwaukee (1 hr
drive) and I'm catching an early flight, so I'll be spending the night at her
place.

Financial statement:

Lana has informed me that the *total* cash count (checks arrived in the SOS-FK
PO Box as of today) is $2321. (This is the money we actually have.)

The total pledges that have been e-mailed to me, on the other hand, are
$4170.37. (Remember, that's promised money, not real money! Yet.)

Those totals are for the bags ($3300 plus shipping) AND the Ad in Broadcast
and Electronic Media ($4750, wasn't it?), so we're nowhere near there yet! I
know all of you that pledged for the bags *are* mailing your checks (or have
already!) but we still need to cover those costs! Laurie may have been
willing to *front* the money, but does anybody out there really think she can
afford to give $4-5000 out of her own pocket?

I know we're all getting stretched thin, so any clever suggestions? I believe
someone mentioned (off-list) the possibility of fan-artists donating art to be
auctioned off. How about us costuming types volunteering to auction off the
'FK-costume-of-your-choice' to some deserving fan. (Admit it-- you'd *love* a
copy of the dress Janette wore in "The Fix"'s flashback! <g> I'd bet I know
where they got the pattern, too!)

Wish us luck, folks! We WILL make an impression, that I promise! :)

Subject: Baltimore Blood Drive/Quote List

OK, I'm a little late posting this, but I thought I'd share. <g> The
Baltimore Blood Drive was yesterday, and we had a nice handful of people
turnout to give their blood for FK. We all survived, and none of us
fainted. (This is an exceptional thing in my case.) We spent several
hours at the Red Cross donor center, and we made good use of our time. We
brought someone across and found another fan! I LOVE THIS FANDOM!

After we finished at the Red Cross, we all went to Chili's for lunch and
more FK conversation. I had a delightful time talking to everyone,
exchanging stories (and e-mail addresses <g>), taking pictures, and ...
OK... giving blood. Yes, it was my first time, and it was pretty painless.

I'd like to thank everyone for coming, Bobbie for bringing the "keepsake"
blood bags, Lana for "I gave my blood for Forever Knight" badges, and
Michelle for driving 5 hours (from Newport News) to spend the day with us.

Now, for the unattributed quote list...contributers were: Laura W., Lana,
Shirl, Michelle, Bobbie, Jean, Laura F., Leslie, a couple of Red Cross
nurses, and a cute waiter. (Did I forget anyone? Apologies if I did.)

I can't talk and give blood at the same time.

My son feeds; he doesn't eat. He's 30.

I'm standing; this is a good sign.

My brother's a bloodsucker. No, he's not a lawyer.

Don't drop your blood bag. ...Oh, don't worry. I brought my own.

Somewhere, someplace, Laura Fargas is still driving around.

You're talking to a bloodsucker. ...That's why we're here.

I'm interested in a Menage a LaCroix.

I just assumed it was going to hurt *that* much.

We're here to support bloodsuckers.

Blood Suckers Anonymous. We don't need no stinkin' 12-step program.

She walks, she talks, she didn't spill her Coke.

There's *no* McDonalds!

I went out to where hawks and questrals (sp?) were circling.

I got butcher woman.

It says Volunteer Donor. *What*, do they have donnors who don't volunteer?

Yeah, victims.

She comes from Newport News to get mutilated.

I've been giving blood for ten years, and I've never had my veins roll.

I have to manipulate this a little bit.

I'm your waiter. I'm going to take care of you. <insert giggles>

We all just coughed up a pint of blood.

We're a little loopy.

He was good; she was almost vertical.

Thanks for a great time!

"Never one thing and seldom one person can make for a success.
It takes a number of them merging into one perfect whole."
        (Marie Dressler)

and

"There are two ways of attaining an important end -- force and
perserverance. Force falls to the lot only of the privileged few,
but austere and sustained perseverance can be practiced by the most
insignificant. Its silent power grows irresistible with time.

Do any of the Dallas/Ft. Worth area folks know about the Horrorfest '96 to be
held at the Harvey Hotel on Midway Road in Dallas on February 3rd? I picked
up a flyer about it while I was leaving FK flyers at a Plano BookStop. Its
going to have a dealers room/video-film room/panels/and local horror-fantasy
writer guests! It's being produced by Con and Dagger Productions, 000 Xxxxxx
Xxxxxx, Xxxxxxxxxx, Xxxxx. Their number (voice or fax) is 000-000-0000.
It will be a $15 price, unless you paid $10 prior to 12/31, and since I
didn't know about it, I didn't.

I'm going to Fax them tomorrow and see if we can place or carry some flyers
around. Does anyone else want to attend it with me? Should be interesting
and would give us a chance to see who is or isn't in the know about FK.
Might make for a nice FK group gathering (force).

E-mail me off list so we don't waste space here.

Just to let you know, I've placed a stack of flyers at 2 Barnes and Noble
bookstores; went to Prestonwood Mall and left flyers at a Waldens bookstore,
Daltons bookstore, Unique Games store, and Tilt (a video games place); went
to Valley View Mall and left flyers at a Daltons, a Cameo music/video store,
and another video store. A little sales girl in the last place said she had
watched FK, once, and mentioned how she used to be a big fan of (gasp) Silk
Stalkings -- but she hasn't had cable for a long time, so hasn't seen it and
didn't know of the cast change. I told her she wasn't missing anything, and
that she really should try FK again. Did a meet a fan at the Prestonwood
Daltons who was planning to get onto Internet this weekend. I encouraged her
to go to the SOS webpage.

Perri -- where did you leave flyers at Collin Creek Mall? I didn't want to
duplicate.

Taylors Bookstore (typical snobs) said I would have to call their corporate
office to ask permission to leave flyers. I also faxed some flyers to Lisa
Clevenger to send to the FK Texas fan club so they can be spread out there,
and Jennifer and Robert Mingee carried a few to the Nodens in Ft. Worth for
dispersal. I gave some to a few people where I work to place in a local
bookstore. It goes slow, but it goes......

By the way -- saw from Dusk to Dawn; makes *our* vampires look like normal
people! Graphic, *goreeeeey*, really wild. Terrrrible language. But I can
almost predict a cult following from those who like that kind of gore.
And.... George Clooney was real cute, even if he was a thief, murderer, and
general bad guy!

called the station manager of Channel 3 in the Syracuse area (Charles
Bivins). he said that I was the one and only person who had contacted him
about FK. No others calls nor letters. Now surely, there are others online
who live in this area. Where are they and why aren't they after this man?
Please tell them for me that he thinks I am the only one out here who cares.
He need to hear from them!"

OKAY, people in the Syracuse Area: WHERE ARE YOU?

Subject: LC's rebec

Just some more useless info and after-dinner speculation ([Names removed by request] ate
too much green bean casserole again *satisfying burp*).

i just purchased an old LP from our local public library - "Music at the
Time of the Crusades", 13th century French pieces performed by The
Florilegium Musicum or Paris - and have finally heard a rebec :)

If the one used in this recording is trully authentic, or a good
reproduction, then LC must have had one custom-made, unless rebecs, like
violins, had lower-pitched siblings. This one is much higher in pitch than
Fred Mollin's instrument.

Anyway, i just wanted to go on record that i believe LC plays some rebec
cousin or one which was made just for him (i doubt he'd craft one himself.
Can you imagine Uncle doing work? Having his own free-form radio show
doesn't count. Neither does employing strippers.)

Subject: Affiliations and wars

If you have a question about either of the above, please email me and I will
send you a (mostly) brief state-of-the-list response that I've written for
just such questions.

Does someone have a recent copy of the factions faq that I can post to the
FTP site? Or is it there? (How the heck should I know--I'm just working
with the SAVE FK stuff.)

A BRIEF explanation--the wars are fictional stories written on FK-Fic in
which list members are THEMSELVES (no magical powers, no nuthin'). There
have been five official wars . . . and I'm thinking of porposing the SOS-FK
campaign as an unofficial 'sixth' war. We work together to make a story.

As far as I know, this is a pretty unique phenomenon and is meant to
introduce ourselves to other listmembers, as well as have a darn good time.
FK wars are also the only place I know where attack is a form of affection.

Regards

When we get a fourth season, the hair GOES.

SHOULDN'T SOMEONE BE GOING TO NATPE?
Save Forever Knight Task Force Descends on Las Vegas

(Las Vegas, Nevada, January 22, 1996) On Wednesday, January 24,
1996, seven women will be arriving in Las Vegas with a common
objective: to secure fourth season renewal for the syndicated
series "Forever Knight." These seven women come from different
walks of life, and many of them are about to meet for the first
time. Seven is said to be a lucky number in Las Vegas and these
women are counting on it. And each of these women, including a
radio station owner, an electrical engineer, a grad student and a
Wisconsin State employee, along with a Caltech physics major and
a web page designer, represent hundreds of other men and women
who are pursuing the campaign on the homefront to keep "Forever
Knight" alive.

Apprised of the news that TriStar Television was leaning against
offering a fourth season of the cult smash to syndicators, the
Friends of Forever Knight quickly organized throughout North
America and the world, establishing post office addresses, and
internet addresses as clearinghouses for ideas for publicizing
the show's plight. When it was suggested that "someone ought to
go to NATPE" and talk to the decision makers of local stations and
networks directly, people quickly volunteered to take time from
their jobs and their lives to go at their own expense to Las
Vegas and represent the fans' concerns. Others quickly rallied
around the idea, dubbing the group their "NATPE Strike Force," and
sending encouragement, ideas, suggestions and, in a more tangible
form of support, donations of almost $10,000 to buy 10,000
literature bags and 20,000 flyers to hand out at NATPE.

If you'd like more information or to interview one of these
women, call any of the numbers above to be connected to the
Forever Knight 'NATPE Strike Force' -- They'll be happy to talk
to you!

Subject: Making goodies

Well, I decided that as my goodie, I wanted to make up a few dozen
"newsletters" of all the things we've accomplished so far, to send to the
cast and crew to boost morale. If they thought we'd all given up on them,
they *need* this eye-opener <G>.

To that effect, I need a favor:

Would the people who have gotten any form of "personal" publicity (i.e.,
scoring an interview with a local newspaper, radio station, TV station: or,
if you have seen a general article on the SOS efforts in any media outlets)
mind emailing me with just a small note containing:

The title of the newspaper article and/or the call number and city of the TV
or radio station.

Put "NEWS" in the subject heading, please. :-)= Thanks, everyone!!!
