Just to call it to our attention:

Rhys Threlfall informed us that seasons two and three of FK *are* listed as
being offered for sale by TriStar at NATPE. So; when calling that local
station you are hoping will start to carry FK in the future, make sure you
*expressly* mention that they want to look for a FOURTH season! I can just
see all these proud new network affiliate reps coming back from NATPE,
proudly bearing the *wrong* season of "Forever Knight" and telling their
superiors, "Hey, look at this great new show I got us! Wow, those people who
called us were right!" Nice to hear and all that; however, close but no
cigar. ;-)

From: Jaye <jap8@c.......>
Subject: ADMIN: re: Virgin & Vampire.

Gentlebeings, this is a polite note to all listmembers that the person
who posted the long 'The Virgin and the Vampire' post has been summarily
banned from posting to all three FK lists. I agree that such a post is
basically none of our business, and as such, is a violation of Mr.
Bennett's privacy. I wish to express to all my listmembers that such
posts and behavior will irretrievably damage FK fandom, and I am
disturbed that someone would do such a thing, especially when one
considers that such behavior is /precisely/ why Ms. Disher has (politely)
declined offers to start a fan club for her.

So, please, consider the fact that this list is for /productive/ fan
appreciation of Forever Knight and its cast and crew, not a soapbox for
anyone who might have a grievance (legit or otherwise) against other
members of the fandom or the cast and crew of FK.

While I like to pride myself on being a fair and conscientous listowner,
there are such things as pushing the limits too far. Quite frankly, none
of you have seen me in my REALLY bitchy moods. If you think you have,
think again. And if you are wise, little grasshoppers, you will not
attempt to find out.

On behalf of the staff of FORKNI-L and the other two mailing lists, I am
formally extending an apology to Mr. Bennett for the behavior of that one
person, and I hope that neither you nor your colleagues who have been so
kind to come hang with us and make us feel like we're having a positive
impact on the show will think that all of us are that sort of people.
We're not, I assure you.

Good night everyone, and sleep well.

Your Listowner,
Jaye.

FOREVER KNIGHT APPRECIATION WEEK BLOOD DRIVE

Okay, you've written the letters, sent the faxes, and made the phone calls....

Now it's time to do something REALLY personal for Forever Knight

Give some blood.

January 20th is the *official* blood donation day for the Forever Knight
Appreciation Week, but for those of you whose Red Cross Centers aren't open
on Saturday, donating during the week is just fine.

Call 1-800-GIVE-BLOOD to find the location of a Red Cross center near you.

Get a group of friends together and then call the Red Cross Center for an
appointment. Go and donate in the honor of Forever Knight.

The Red Cross also gives away a neat little freebie when you donate-- It's
a stick-pin with a little red teardrop on it (with the Red Cross symbol on
top). So don't forget to pick up your free Vampire Tear!

After you've donated, send your name (first and last) and geographic location,
along with that of your friends to Bea Quindlen at OCaoin@a......., saying
that you and XX of your friends have donated blood for Forever Knight.

Then make a copy of your donor slip and send it and a SASE to :
SOS-FK
P.O. Box 00000
Xxxxxxxxxx, XX 00000-0000

What you'll get back is a laminated badge that says "I gave my blood for
Forever Knight" with a picture of a Forever Knight character. (You'll get back
the copy of your donor slip, also.)

State your faction or favorite character (Nick, LC, Natalie, Vachon,
Janette), otherwise you'll get a Nick badge.

So roll up your sleeve and let 'em draw a pint or two. :-)=

Just to let people on the list know that the first batch of checks have
arrived at SOS-FK. They'll be forwarded to Laurie Fenster at the end of
the week, along with any others that arrive.

For those of you who've been lost in avalanche of e-mail, Laurie Fenster is
the person who is fronting the money for the Electronic Media ad. She is
also collecting the money for the NATPE bag effort. These two projects
required a lot of money to get off the ground, so I hope that you will do
your part and chip in for this effort.

The checks should be made out to : Laurie C. Fenster

Further to my note yesterday, I found a note from someone on GEnie this

should only be writing to USA etc. to thank them from having shown FK
and to encourage them to show similar programs in the future. Needless
to say, I immediately corrected her and encouraged people to write
requesting a 4th season.

I've been attempting to upload the latest faq to the libraries there,

I didn't feel well during the entire weekend, so hopefully someone who
was awake for the con and had a few brain cells working will write up a
more coherent report. :-) (Or maybe they already have...I'm on digest
so my apologies if any of this is redundant)

There was a particularly good panel Saturday evening...I'm hoping
someone will give a thorough report on that one.

We were able to get a table in a prime location, so we had lots of
traffic there. Lots of folks stopped by saying "what? Forever Knight
is being canceled? What can I do?" The information is NOT out there...
these are Science Fiction fans and they didn't know. They do, now. :-)
We distributed lots of flyers and invited people to our party and to
our two panels on saving Forever KNight.

The party was packed -- standing-room-only for part of it. There weren't
many of us dedicated fans at Arisia -- it seemed like a majority of the
folks attending the party were newbies and had certainly never seen any
first season episodes, because they watched with silent, rapt attention.
And they weren't gasping in amazement when "missing scenes" appeared
(these were Canadian first season episodes) so it was obvious that they
were watching for the first time. Hopefully they all went home and
wrote letters.

A big thank you to Cal, Meredith and Celeste. I couldn't have survived
the weekend without them. And it was great meeting other list people
for the first time -- June, Emily, Anne, Jacqueline Lichtenberg, and
of course Ron was there selling t-shirts and bumperstickers to benefit
PAF. What were those totals, Ron? Everyone was terrific and I look
forward to seeing all of you again. We FK fans are a great bunch!

Okay you asked...

Word has it that cast and crew are not that interested in a fourth season. They
have already decided who gets what as far as the set and props are concerned
when they are done filming. They are also scared that if there is a fourth
season, the budget will be greatly cut and the episodes will suffer.. a lot.

The cancellation has hit hard but now they would like to get on with their
lives, but because of the drive to save the show they are being held to their
contracts until June.

I know to most people on this list what I'm about to say may sound like
blasphemy, but, I think it is time to let go. It was a great ride while it
lasted and I have plenty of wonderful memories that will last a lifetime. I
have made many new friends that will hopefully last a lifetime and I want to
see everyone involved with FK move on to bigger and better things.

As Spock would (get the corny-police outta here!), "'Live long and prosper',

That means she will not be getting your comments, so there is no point
in posting them.

As a former assistant listowner for all three lists, I can tell you
that there has always been a firm policy that the private lives of
cast and crew will *not* be discussed here. This is especially
important because the lurking listmembers include cast and crew.

For those who are new to the internet, please note that when the owners
of an internet list tell you to drop a discussion it is not, to quote

Tried to convert the 1-800-FLOWERS operator, Robin. She'd heard of the
show, but said she couldn't watch it because she's a Christian.

I showed great restraint.

Susan: Baloney (according to the SONY filter), I stopped you!

How to send things to people:

1--Post on list and find out if there's anyone watching your station who
wants to chip in. Tell them to e-mail you.

2--Go to Save FK web page to get the address for your station.

3--Call 1-800-FLOWERS. The average item runs aboyt $35-$38.00 for same day
delivery. You can send candy, nuts, flowers in a mug, whatever. (Mylar
balloons are expensive--good if you've got a LOT of people).

The card should say something like--"Thank you for showing Forever Knight.
We would like to see a fourth season of new episodes. Please order a fourth
season of Forever Knight from Tri-Star at NATPE."

You can sign it with individual names or "The (fill in city) Fans of Forever
Knight"

4--Post to the list and tell people what you sent and where. (Morale
booster and an idea of what is going where).

Remember, a lot of small items will make a larger impact than one large item.

Regards
When we get a fourth season, the hair GOES.

Please!

I am a Christian, and I have no problem with FK. Of course I am an open
minded Liberal type Christian that doesn't run around screaming "Burn the
witch!", like some in the bible belt I live in do.( Uncle will hate that God
stuff). I think it's their fault. They will watch all the T&A in the
world, but let one fang emerge and they're gathering the stakes and writing
we-are-boycotting- your-Satanist- channel crap. Trust me, I had my mom ask
if vampire's were Satan worshippers. Sigh. The drivel never ends.

Hello all,
Magister here, you new people won't know me, but, the older ones
will remember me. (I hope) I had been off-list for quite a while, but,
rushed back immediately when I heard about the cancellation.
I have been lurking for approximately two weeks and while I
applaud all of your very fine efforts, (kudos and virtual choclate for
everyone) I am going to have to agree with Cousin Lupino and say that it
just might be time to let it go. I was highly dismayed with the way this
season has turned out. Although there have been some very well written
episodes, it is lacking a certain spark that it used to have. Let it
go out with a bang, instead of a whimper. Thanks for listening.

                                        Ravenously yours,
                                        The Magister

If the cast and crew don't want it maybe we should bow to their wishes. I
think, however the 2 hour movie thing would be neat.

I am not a lurker, I'm an active member of this list and HAVE been since 1993.

I completely disagree with Lupino's post and Magister's follow-up . . .
until I find out that they have more information that we do at this time.

The information we have:

Ger posted and said that contracts are being held until June. This means
that there's a possibility of a fourth season. TriStar would not hold the
actors until June if production were going to close. It's been done, we
can't do anything about it now. But it's a hopeful sign for renewal.

Ger did NOT say at any time that he didn't want to do a fourth season. In
fact, he was specific in saying that his concerns were that a season might
be underfunded (which we can attempt to address). And that he wouldn't mind
doing movies.

But we are NOT going to get any movies, whether Ger wants them or not, if
the sets are destroyed at the end of filming and we let this go now. Before
we all become high and mighty and noble and sacrifice the good this effort
has done for charity, for the blood banks, and for publicizing this show,
let's kick back a minute and realize what we're saying.

We have three days until NATPE. Let's keep the effort going through NATPE.
We will hear for certain by February 2nd whether or not we have succeeded or
failed. By that time, whatever happens, we will have donated a LOT of money
to Pediatric Aids and helped the very CRITICAL situation of our nation's
blood supplies.

If you want to quit, quit. But for God's sake, keep donating to charity and
donate blood this weekend.
When we get a fourth season, the hair GOES.

Subject: Questions

I have to *completely* disagree with Laurie Salopek's post about dropping
the effort to save Forever Knight.

A lot of people have put in substantial amounts of time, effort and money,
and to stop now would be an *incredible* disservice to them.

Additionally, if the contracts have been held, they're held. There's
nothing we can do about that now. Right now, we'd be doing more harm than
good to stop our efforts dead, especially since I took Ger's note to be
promising. I think he *is* interested in a 4th season, but that his main
concern is that it be well funded. I agree with that, and until I hear
otherwise (as in direct from Toronto), I don't think we *can* stop rightr
now.

NATPE is a few days away. We will know one way or another after that.
There's been too much momentum built up now to stop it, and I think it
would be wrong to do so right now.

At the very least, DO NOT STOP DONATING TO CHARITY AND PLEASE DONATE BLOOD!
That doesn't hurt anybody and does the world some good. I also urge
people to continue with FKAW--we've got a shot at it.
