Jamie, I think this is a great idea. However, IMHO, you should write a
series of stories, each one featuring every FK character getting his or her
heart's desire. The story lines don't have to be consistent, and since some
of them seem to have more than one conflicting desire, you can pick and
choose the one that suits you. And, like so many fairy tales, they don't
have to actually like the result. For example:

Nick: does he gain mortality and Nat, or accept his vampiricity <is that a
word?> and get Janette.

LaCroix: Nick returns to his fold.

Natalie: does she gain a mortal Nick, or is she brought across? What does
she really want?

Janette: Nicolas of course.

Tracy: she becomes a really good cop? Or is she a perky vampire????

Vachon: I don't know what he really wants. Maybe you can come up with
something.

Reese: finally gets a drink of water out of that *&^%$@ water cooler.

Screed: rats, rats and more rats?

I know you'll be very creative.

Subject: TV Guide Critic - send more letters

Suggestion... I've sent several letters and cards to Jeff Jarvis, the TV
Guide critic. Maybe someone who has it should post his address again, and
*everyone* do a concerted letter campaign to him as well. Whatever he writes
is literally national, and if we could get him to even mention FK it would be
a coup. Thoughtfully worded notes, something pertaining more to the concept
of the "moguls" having control and being insensitive to the fans (since he
has written something along those lines). That might grab his attention
faster than "I love the show, please help us." He probably gets a lot of
mail, but a concerted, thoughtful "pelting" about what FK fans are doing and
how USA and TriStar are bulldozing without consideration might work. *Lots*
of cards and letters. I don't have the address handy (everything is packed
and I don't have time to go through the stacks of stuff I've run out), but
someone listed it once before and might want to do so again.

Subject: Dine with a Program Director

I sent a post late last night, but haven't seen it come in. I apologize if
this is a repost (in case the other shows up). Just thought it might prove
useful to meet some of these people we're courting by asking them to lunch or
dinner. In a group, not singlely (if possible) to avoid the "single fanatic
fan" concept. Three or four people could invite the PD out and chat about
how the system works (if you already know, pretend that you don't, because
people love to talk about their work and what they do). Our requests might
have more of an impact if they see us as real down-to-earth people who are
simply trying to make a difference and have a little control in our own
lives. If a PD is reluctant to go out in that manner, maybe a visit by their
office would be a good idea. Set up an appointment and ask for "a few
minutes" to ask a few questions and find out about the system. Push FK after
you've approached the "I need to understand" approach.

Maybe its too late with NATPE so close. But it certainly couldn't help if
anyone can do this.

Does anyone think it would help for those of us *not* located in a specific
city or area to write to those syndication affiliates anyway to heap up the
volume of mail? All we need to do is let them know that there really are
fans all over the country wanting to save the show, and tell them we
appreciate the fact that they are airing it, even if we don't live there.
Couldn't hurt to express the strong fan base to them, and it would put more
emphasis on the "ask for it at NATPE" aspect.

Who has the affilication list? I'll want a copy when I return on Sunday --
can't hurt to write more.

Hmmm... How 'bout you wait two hours without a cigarette and then go to the
USA Networks office and march into Kay's office and demand to know the REAL
reason that USA cancelled Forever Knight? It would be interesting to see
what she would do being confronted with a "twelve-foot hulking beast with

Yes, but make sure when you talk to stations like that, encourage them to
ASK for Forever Knight. We already know that TriStar is not offering it.
So...

MAKE SURE YOUR SYNDICATED STATIONS ***ASK*** FOR FOREVER KNIGHT AT NATPE!!

We need to make Tri-Star aware that cancelling Forever Knight would be a bad

Sure, You can quote me. I am sure that MetroWest would be willing to
say something about it if there is enough interest. Problem is that
we have over 48 inches of snow on the ground, expecting 10-12 this
Friday. Not a lot of people want to give blood after shoveling this
much and with driving so bad. I will try to get the person organizing
the blood drive here at Vmark to mention it.

If I send this to you, will you add it to the loop?

Since St. Valentine's Day is just around the corner, a cool yet
inexpensive thing to send to TPTB are Valentine's Cards (you should be able
to find at least one "cute" Vampirish card at your local Hallmark
affiliate), but you could also send Valentine's candies -- especially RED
HEARTS!

[Maybe even a big Red Heart box of chocolate with a wooden stake embedded in
it to Kay, then maybe she'd get the point -- just kidding, DON'T, she may
think you're a looney stalker, and that would be bad for our campaign.]

Has anyone besides me written to your local radio station DJs? I've
not had a reply yet, but some of them are pretty cool and may watch FK and
may be willing to mention something during their monologues. Also, flyers
would be good to put up around your local Colleges and Universities (may be
someone even knows some Junior High or High School English teacher who would
make writing a letter to TPTB an extra-credit homework assignment for their
students).

And, finally, about USA -- don't bother to intentionally boycott
USA, unless you are a Neilson Family (which I was but they still canceled
AirWolf on me). Besides, there is not much besides Forever Knight which
isn't dreck and drival.

How are we doing on the Charity checks, by the by? Would an extra
$1000.00 help, or could I put it to a better use?

And, hey, I actually like Vachon and Tracy (though she took a bit
longer to get used to). Their interplay is a nice contrast to that of Nick
and Nat, and I especially liked Tracy's comment to Vachon about Nick being
such a sceptic about the existance of Vampires (in "My Boyfirend...") and
Vachon's responce, "Know him that well, do ya?"

Actually, you could say we brought FK back twice. The first time was
after CBS dropped it and we spent nearly two years lobbying before it
returned in syndication.

The second was last year when it was, in JP's words, almost Forever Not
until we called so many stations and USA so often that people started
complaining to JP, who called us off.

I'm hoping, personally, that third time as a charm applies here, too.

I called them about that, because when I first started watching they not
only displayed lotto numbers, but the audio was lost during the display.
Since I spoke to them, I noticed that the audio is back, so I'm grateful
to them for actually listening and doing something about it.

Hi All,
I've thought about this and if we get a 4th season of FK I'm going to
start drinking coke classic instead of diet coke <gag> and I'll watch
wrestling without making rude comments to my husband.

Zillah,

 Cool idea. Sign me up.

I agree, Uncle needs another pin, 4th season or no 4th season. Perhaps as a
lovely parting gift if all does not work out ( but we must think positive)?
It's pretty sad that his original disseappered.

What about Uhrse?: More that a token appearance in an episode. Or maybe
Screed's secret desire is Uhrse? EEEYWWW!

I think Uncle would also love unlimited power and world domination. Isn't
that what every Roman Army General wanted?

If vampires are the upper class of monsters, I'd say that Nick was
downwardly moible. He dresses nicely for a cop (or are dectectives
supposed to dress like that? I hate cop shows (sic) so I don't know) but
we have never seen him in fine evening wear in long time.

As for LaCroix, the "persona" he has created for his modern life does not
seem conductive to fancy dressing. Running a grunge club, especially.

Subject: Of Vows and Phone Calls

Hi all!

In a short while I will be posting my if-we-get-the-end-of-
third-season vow story ("Tracy beats LC, Nick unharmed" <g>--
remember?) on the FKFIC list. If you're not subbed and you
want a copy, email me and I'll send you one (why not?).

It's even got a seduction scene (yes, between *them*! <wg>).
You really don't want to miss this opportunity to see me
publically embarass myself for FK! :-)))

***BUT***

Yes, I will post it (I promised), but I want to make it a
"Syndie-call-ware" story. That means, everybody is on their
*honor* NOT to read it until they've _called their local sydie
and made it clear that you want them to *ask* TriStar for FK_!

<advance apologies for following tirade/pep-talk....*please*
apply friendly smiley-faces as necessary throughout! :->

I just did it. I, the ultimate phone-weenie, sat down with
Susan's checklist and called KCBS, talked to the Programming
Department, and made it very clear that I want them to _ask_
for FK. *It's not _that_ bad!* And you'll feel very good
afterwards. Trust me.

If I can haul my *elbow* down to Vegas to talk to these folk
*in person* <gulp!> on behalf of the whole list... you all
can prime them for me this week with a measly phone call.
The NAFPE Strike Force will be there to _remind_ these
people that their viewers want FK. If they hear about it
first from us, they'll think "oh a few really committed people
like the show, how nice." We want them to say: "Oh yeah!
<optional slap to the forehead here> I've got a _bunch_ of
viewers who want that show. Better go ask about it!"

The six of us can't do that. Only all of you can.

<revs into high-gear peptalk mode>

And I'm warning you now. If _one_ person I approach in Vegas
says to me "Oh, what's FK?" I will take down their name and
station, come home, consult that nice Locations list, and give
each listmember in that area *hell* for not calling in!
Really! I *mean* it! <grrrrrrrr....>

<calms down slightly>

And remember, the more people who call, the easier it is. We
_want_ the people at your local station to be saying "Oh no,
not _another_ call about Forever Knight!" That would be a
*good* thing, guys! :-)

So do it now! Not later, *now*. If you all don't pitch in this
week... what we do in Vegas will be too little, too late.
