Me neither. i mean, if LC and Nick were friendly with one another, what
would Cousins occupy their minds with? Who would we have to plot against? If LC
and Nick were friendly, there'd no longer be War as we know it. Instead
we'd sit around, knit, have cookies, compliment each other on our
ensembles. We'd <gasp> *get along*.

(Susan: do it. No more headaches, tangles, sopping hair wrapping itself
every which way, no more clogged drains... no more shining tresses in the
sun, no more graceful swaying, <sniff> no more idle braiding and twisting
between the fingers... WAA! Don't do it! Doooon't do it! [i have an issue
with my own head of spaghetti, yes.])

Muah!

Before we go crazy with hate letters and boycotts of USA network, perhaps
it would be wise to wait until FK is renewed for a fourth season. It might
help our cause if FK was not associated with negative fan backlash. I'm
sure these TV execs talk amongst themselves - especially at NATPE.

After the fate of the fourth season is determined, IMO, that would be the
time to hit USA with a vengeance.

Subject: James Parriot and "Matt Waters"

I noticed in reading about new "second season" TV series
on the broadcast networks that James Parriot is the
producer of the new show on CBS "Matt Waters" which
stars Montel Williams of talk show fame as a teacher.
Does his involvement with this new show have
any relation to the problems of FK?
I believe that this show was supposed to start
last fall, but was bumped then in favor of
"New York News" starring Mary Tyler Moore which
has been cancelled already. So the episodes airing
now were probably produced in the summer?

I'm also willing to copy shows for folks losing
FK because no local station is carrying it.
I was in that position during the last season
so I would also be willing to copy any of the

CBS episodes to trade for last season's
syndicated episodes.

The Electronic Media ad was completed today and sent out by FEDEX to
EM. Thanks to all who helped design it!

The ad focuses on FK APPRECIATION WEEK, which begins this Sunday. We
need EVERYONE's help to make this series of events a successful reality
going into our NATPE *attack*!

Specific details on the individual events will be forthcoming later
tonight and tomorrow. PLEASE, PLEASE, participate any way that you can!
Our best chance to save FK is to get the syndicated stations and/or the
media to notice us and put pressure on TriStar to fund a fourth season.
Those are the twin goals of FK Appreciation Week.

Here is the final text of the ad:

OFFICE MEMO The NATPE Ad FINAL Date:1/9/96

Forever Knight
Appreciation Week
JAN. 14 - 20, 1996

The Friends of Forever Knight celebrate Forever Knight Appreciation
Week!
Activities planned include the following:

(smaller, neater type)
Sunday, Jan. 14: Sony/TriStar Appreciation Day
Nationwide, the Friends support the producers of Forever
Knight by patronizing Sony/TriStar in all its facets: theatrical
movies, videotapes and a wide variety of products.

        Monday, Jan.15: AOL Appreciation Day
The Friends honor America Online, which has welcomed us,
and promised an expanded Forever Knight site to accomodate our growing
numbers, by throwing a virtual FK/AOL party in cyberspace.

        Tuesday, Jan.16: Syndies Appreciation Day
Nationwide, the Friends support the syndicated stations
that carry Forever Knight by sending letters and tokens of
appreciation.

Wednesday, Jan.17: The Friends Support The Pediatric AIDS
Foundation
To honor the cast and crew of Forever Knight, The Friends
have vowed to follow the example of SONY's holiday contribution to the
Pediatric AIDS Foundation. On this day, at least $5,000 raised by The
Friends since December 23 will be personally delivered to the Pediatric

AIDS Foundation.

        Thursday, Jan.18: Overseas Appreciation Day
In honor of the world-wide syndication of Forever Night,
fans on four continents-Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia-will donate
blood, contribute to charities, donate food, and/or contact their
broadcasting FK stations with letters and tokens of appreciation.

        Friday, Jan.19: Sponsor Appreciation Day
The Friends express their gratitude to the companies that
have advertised on Forever Knight by purchasing their products.
Donations of these products to local foodbanks/shelters will be made
this weekend in the names of the sponsors of Forever Knight.

Saturday, Jan.20: Friends Give Their Blood For Forever Knight
The Friends assemble throughout North America to donate
blood to the Red Cross in honor of the cast and crew of Forever Knight.

I don't think hate letters (polite protests at not airing the show
though :) ) to USA or boycotting USA right now is a good idea either.
We might undo any good will we've built so far.

It's more important to focus on syndicated stations and TriStar, in
the hope that we can get a fourth season than b**** too much at USA.

Subject: Hair-Raising Experiences

*My apologies to those people who really don't give a damn for the following--*

Jaye says:
>It's now nearly a year later, and my hair can barely make it past my
>collor (the braid went in May, btw). Believe you me, lopping off double
>digits of hair length is /not/ something that can be easily replaced.

I promise you all, I can grown hair about as fast as I can write. Having a
rather hirsute, Slovac ancestry comes in handy sometimes.

Although I still wonder why my forbearers did have the foresight to buy
stock in Nair . . . .

Jamie said--
>Another, less damaging option would be to style the hair really really
>badly, and circulate photographs.
Betsy replied--
>With little pink ribbons, perhaps?>

I reply . . . ick.

Jamie added--
>If Susan cuts the hair, we can put it into little locks tied with pink
>ribbon, sell 'em as souvenirs of the SFK movement, and donate the proceeds
>to P.A.F.

Okay, I'm giving blood and fiction for this fandom . . . you guys wanna
recycle my hair, too? Although you know I'm a sucker for anything going to
charity . . . . (And thanks for not saying 'souvenirs of Susan'!)

Eliot says--
>Why not send the shorn locks, artfully coiffed into several braids,
>bound with black ribbon, to Kay Koplovitz (sic) with a note that the fans
>are in mourning for the loss of Forever Knight and according to their
>customs are cutting their hair to demonstrate it to the world.

I don't have THAT much hair! (but we <could> dye it different colors)

I can't believe I actually wrote that.

And I'm dreading the historical hair essays yet to come--"Helen of Troy,
blonde or brunette?" "Victorian Mourning Lockets" "Hair and Sympathetic
Magic" "Sy Sperling's 13th Century Hair Club for Men"

The official measurement of my hair, from lower scalp line to the end, is 21
inches (my hair being wet and me using a yard stick and reading it in a
mirror). I'm tempted to pledge one inch for every episode of FK we get for
a fourth season, but I'm not insane. So let's stick to a half-inch per
episode and keep it at that.

And this does have something to do with FK--honest! If you take the
flashbacks of Nick's coming across (oops! Sorry, that's
Alexandra!)--ahem--being BROUGHT ACROSS and arrange them in order, his
changes in hair length are nothing short of miraculous (short-long,
short-short, short-long).

OBFK: Anyone wishing to link the FKSAVE section of the FTP site to their
web page, please do so. I'm trying to keep up with stuff as it comes in.

Regards and sincerest apologies,
When we get a fourth season, the hair GOES.

Subject: CALL Syndication Stations!

Seriously. Make one call to every syndicator in your area and tell them--

* That you watch Forever Knight on their station (giving them the day and
the time is impressive)

* That you'd like to see them continue to show Forever Knight--namely, a
new season next year

* That you've discovered from the distributor, TriStar (you don't have to
tell them HOW) that they're not planning to produce another season
because they don't think syndicators are interested

* That TriStar would be willing to produce another season if they received
enough calls to their SYNDICATION SALES department from syndicators asking
for the series

AND

* That if interested stations approached TriStar at NATPE and asked for
Forever Knight, it would prove to them that there's enough interest in
the series to produce it

If you're a phone weenie like me, you can talk to programming, or ask them
who is in charge of purchasing programs. If you're a brave phonian, talk to
the general manager of the station. If you freeze up, print the above note
and use it as a checklist while you're on the phone (that's what I usually do).

DON'T harrass them.
DON'T make more than one call per person.
DON'T threaten not to watch their station any more
DON'T mention USA or the net (unless they specifically ask you where you
received your information)

DO let them log your name and telephone number. (That proves you're not a
crank call and you're willing to let them verify the information you've
given, as well as your interest).

We don't want to tie up their phones like last time. We DO want to give
them an idea of just how many potential fourth season viewers are out here.
Faxes are a nuisance and many are tossed. Some stations actually LOG calls.
Calls prove that the interest is genuine.

We basically have three days to get the word out to them before they head
for Vegas--Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. Calls on Monday or Tuesday might be
too late, but couldn't hurt.

If your local syndie station doesn't carry the show, call them anyway, ask
them why, and tell them that you'd be interested in seeing it on their
station next year--but they HAVE to call to make that possible.

Fred (and many of our other contracts) have emphasized how important it is
that syndie stations actually CALL TriStar and ask for the show. Even if
TriStar doesn't plan on selling the show and we fail to get the stations to
phone ahead, if we send stations to NATPE with FK on their brains so that
they ask at the TriStar booth, TriStar WILL get the message. If they have
enough stations ask for FK on Monday morning, by noon some poor TriStar slob
will be at a Vegas Kinkos by noon, photocopying a quick and dirty presskit
for a fourth season of Forever Knight that can be handed out in response to
inquiries.

For the next three days, this is more important than the letter campaigns
(but don't stop writing, either). Get your non-list friends to call.
Spread the word to local clubs to call. Just call.

If you don't have the phone number, call directory assistance. Or check the
web site. Or check the fksta.txt and synupdt.txt files on the FTP site. Or
ask on the list.

Regards
When we get a fourth season, the hair GOES.

I third that. Of course, I am about to embark on a small War that has 9

I told my boss today that I was going to go for it. I was going to shave
my head, and not worry about tangles, washing, paying for hair clips, nada!
She snorted and said, "Yeah, right!" (Note, my hair hangs almost to my
waist...) :)

Subject: Apologies to Deb & Tangentially related Gripe/Q (LONG)

Behind, as usual, however I need to make a public apology:

Deb, keeper of the Who's Who List, please forgive me for any pain
that I may have caused you by declaring to defend Jamie's
WebGoddess title. *Everyone* who is taking on chunks of this
campaign deserves mucho pats on the back and so forth. I'll defend
your title. Really!

Since I hadn't read everything, I thought somebody had blatantly
said that Jamie wasn't doing her part. When I caught up in my
reading a bit and realized that this was not the case, I sent a
second post which I hoped would clarify my position - my respect
for your work *and* Jamie's. I've got your list printed out taped
to my wall. Your job is tremendously important.

A concerned listmember, not a listowner (to my knowledge), e-mailed
me privately after both posts - first to take me to task for adding
to your pain, Deb; and second to encourage me to read all the posts
before posting, and lastly to suggest that I consider the feelings
of all concerned when posting. I've already addressed the first.

To the second, I apologize in advance to all those I will offend
and bother with duplicate or irrelevant postings, because there is
*no* way that I can read all the messages coming in these days.
I'm still trying to catch up with the late December stuff (but I've
finally gotten the number to under 200 ;-) at the expense of going
"nomail" and receiving Dianne's summaries - otherwise I'd *never*
catch up. Thank you Dianne!!!). Also, I really do try to consider
peoples' feelings before posting. I was concerned that we would
lose one of our greatest assets in Jamie who was offended. Then I
was concerned that we would lose the gifts Deb offered since she
was hurt.

Then, I get in trouble. I'm sorry, guys. Really, I appreciate
everything that everybody is doing. I'm aggravated that someone
took it upon themselves to fuss at me. Am I off-base here? If
being behind and still trying to post is a major problem, I'll get
off the list altogether. I try to be judicious in my
behind-the-times posts. However, it is not in my nature to read
stuff that I have something to say about and then not say what's on
my mind.

Opinions?

Sorry for the long post in this post-heavy time. I'll restrict my
sig to just my addresses.
