I just received my new TV guide - USA has moved Forever Knight next week - it
will be on Tuesday night (1/16) at 8pm (central). On Monday, the have
back-to-back Silk Stalkings, so it may be temporary. Hope this stills the
panic in others that I had myself when I turned to Monday night and saw no

Do you suppose they've decided to switch FK's slot to Tuesdays at
9 PM EST (it's listed tomorrow at that time in my TV Guide and last
Tuesday they aired Black Buddha 1 and 2)?

Also a question for Marcia regarding Fred Mollin's comments: By
"reruns", did he mean that USA was only going to show reruns of the
third season eps they've already aired or was he speaking about a
possibility that USA would air reruns from prior seasons?

Would the nice person who tracked down the singer of "Holy Ground" please
e-mail the name to me off list? I zapped the post after I wrote it down,
then lost the note to myself... don't say it, Airheads Anonymous already
has my dues money...

Also, which magazine in which month had the article with Catherine Disher's
interview in it? I thought I had THAT right too, but I went to Barnes &
Noble and couldn't find it. I thought it was SCI-FI Entertainment, but I
must have been mistaken.

Hey, I'd also like to welcome so many lurkers and newbies to the
board---especially the new Mercs, Allison, Anne, and a few whose names
escape me. :) Always nice to know that more ruthless people are on our
side. Especially for people shy about posting in public, I'm glad you
decided to join the virtual community.

And, lastly, for those of you who care, the next installment of Protect &
Serve will go up next Sunday. Maybe. (Late again, but at least you have a
time frame to start looking for it.) And those of you who wanted the last
few installments, I'll get to you ASAP. Life is a little stressed right now.

Some people do "pay by the pound" for their internet connection. So this
may be $$ related. I know myself, that I've deleted a lot of these group
meeting messages. But I wish I was located close enough to others to
go to one of these get-togethers! Yeah, there might be lots of stuff in here
that isn't pertinent, to you in particular, or your interest in the show. But
it is all show related.

I'm sorry you wish to go. FK needs all its friends now. But the list has
taken on a life of it's own, and rightfully so, 'cos without this, we may
not have a show next year. Everyone is here, because they love the show
and because of that love, there's a lot going on right now, in trying to
save it, so we have more episodes to talk about. Erase those messages if
you wish, you can usually tell by the header, but try and remember why
we're all here, in the first place. I wish I had the luxury of getting
together with a group, to organize something to hit the local affiliates
and media with!

And for the rest of us, if someone feels they have to leave, lighten up.
We're losing a friend. Don't let them go with a slap, give them a hug,
wish them well, and we hope we'll all be here for them to come back to
someday.

First of all, does anyone have an address for them that actually works?
I have always gotten a bounce when I tried.

Second, may I suggest vehement but dignified protests, along the lines
of what Sherry Godsey just posted, rather than a boycott? Unless you
happen to be a Nielsen family, they're not going to notice a boycott,
but they may react to a flood of complaints.

OK, here's my two cents on the issue.

I have some comments up on the NatPack page that we should keep up on USA
because I do believe this is what they're doing.

I think we should focus on NAPTE and the local affiliates right now.

After that, we should try to organize some kind of serious boycott of USA,
say for an entire month, or better yet for a sweeps period in February
and/or May (probably May because it gives us more time). On top of that, I
say we get a list of sponsors on USA and write to *them* telling *them*
that USA is being boycotted during this important ratings period because of
their bad programming and business deals. I think that might make an
impact. We should try to get as many people involved as possible. From
what I understand USA was thinking about partially financing HL for the
fifth season and have now pulled out, putting that show's future in serious
jeopardy. The TekWar people, and just internet SF/F fans in general who
want to help.

Especially since they do censor Highlander. Of course 5:00 p.m. is
considered family veiwing time and 10:00 p.m. isn't. Of course if your tv
has closed captioning you will get all of the dialog. They don't censor that.

And that's exactly what we should do. <g>

As to boycotting USA, I don't think it will work. Other than sending them
letters that we are boycotting them they wouldn't know for sure how many of
us actually aren't watching. Now if you let your local cable company know
about your displeasure with what USA is doing with its programming, that may
be a little different. Especially for those of you whose Cable Company
includes USA in their Basic package and can't really ask them to cancel your
subscription.

Of course, with all of the fans of boxing, wrestling, etc. that probably
wouldn't work either. But it might get it across to the Cable Company
owners that there are people out there who are very tired of wrestling,
boxing, T&A, etc. Besides, TNT and TBS both carry wrestling. In fact TNT's
WCW Wrestling is on at the same time as USA's WWF Wrestling.

I do watch USA. But the only things I really watch regularly are MacGyver,
Highlander, Renegade and FK. Once in awhile Murder, She Wrote. The only
reason I watch Highlander on USA, is because our Cable Company won't carry
the station that carries the first run episodes. They also don't carry the
SciFi Channel. Even though subscibers have been asking for it since it was
started.

It's just a suggestion.

Uh, no, it's not. If you watched Weird Science last weekend, Post
Crypt is the font they used for the credits on that episode. It's
loosely based on the hold EC horror comics' logos. (They actually
looked a lot better.)

The big words in FK's opening aren't really a usual font. The letters
overlap and the baseline rides up and down to make them fit together,
as well as some of the letters having multiple forms.

I've digitized the names out of the opening credits and used them as
the basis for some of my designs (say, the "The Nightcrawler" design
on those shirts), but I haven't had a chance to clean up the results and
try to make a more useful set of clip art out of them yet.

Don raises a good point -- a boycott _could_ hurt our chances of
helping the show to survive. But on the other hand, it already seems that
USA has made up its mind. Therefore, that unties our hands, and allows us
to move our campaign into somewhat of a more "guerilla" mode.
I think that a listwide -- and if possible, convince other lists
and their members to join us -- boycott of USA is a workable and justifi-
able idea. USA and TPTB have shown the best fans a show could ever have
no consideration whatsoever. Now it's time to take off the kid gloves.
We might not be able to make a *huge* impact, but as someone pointed out
in reference to letters, for every person that _does_ write, that usually
means that there's ten others who feel the same way that _haven't_ writ-
ten a letter.
Okay. Let's assume we get everyone on the list to boycott. 900 or
so members. 900x10=9,000 boycotters. That is, of course, assuming we can
get the word out. ;)

A second alternative, and one that might be more palatable to Mr.
Fasig, is to bombard USA's TPTB with letters, faxes, and e-mails letting
them know how displeased we are with the musical-chairs scheduling, and
for those of us that were turned off by the way-graphic content of the
"Silk Stalkings" opening, we can tell 'em that, too.

For my part, I will gladly join a boycott of USA, if that is what
is decided. The only reason I watched USA was for FK, and I used to watch
it way back when they were showing the reruns of Matrix.
As soon as I sign off this post, I'm e-mailing USA and voicing my
displeasure. I will be polite -- but I will also most definitely get my
point across.
In any case, the time is now. As Fred Mollin said, whatever we are
going to do, it has to be now. Shall we cross the Rubicon and engage the
enemy head-on, gang? What do y'all think?

(Excuse me if this info has already been posted, but my hard drive crashed

system. Fun fun fun.)

Today's Boston Globe does list Forever Knight on tonight's USA schedule at 9
p.m. Since yesterday's edition correctly listed the two hours of Silk
Stalkings last night, I'm hoping that the "Night in Question" repeat will
indeed be shown.

Hi all,

I'm on digest, so I don't know if this has been posted....From the last
digest I received I saw several postings noting FK was not on in its usual
Monday night slot.

Unless USA has changed it's mind, my TV guide lists FK on tonight at 9. My
version does not list which episode will be shown.

Subject: Scheduling Changes & Miscellaneous

        To Whom It May Concern:
I am a devoted fan of your program "Forever Knight," and I was very
much upset when I found at 10:00 p.m. you were airing "Silk Stalkings" as
opposed to the episode of "Forever Knight" that was promised in the issue
of "TV Guide."
I am aware that you have decided to cancel the show, but I was under
the (mistaken?) impression that you were going to finish out the season. We,
the fans of "Forever Knight," deserve closure with the characters that we
have come to know and love as much as our own family.
Moreover, I was disturbed by the opening vignette of "Silk Stalk-
ings." Yes, "Forever Knight" had some sexual content; when the third season
of "FK" opened, the character LaCroix had opted to allow strippers in the
Raven. But never on "FK" did I see anything that could match the disgusting
display of female flesh that was depicted on "Silk Stalkings" last night.
I am a male, and a young adult. I _do_ enjoy the female form as much
as the next male. But when you air a show like that -- one that shows women
as *objects only* and without anything between their ears but air -- you
give your own network the appearance of being misogynist and sexist. I find
it odd that Kay Koplovitz, the very woman that ordered the ax to fall on
"FK", would sanction the broadcast of such a wanton display.
"Forever Knight" was in large part a reason of why I watched your
network. Very rarely -- if ever -- did I watch any of your other original
programming. I now have even less reason to do so.
Without "FK," my choices for watching high-quality TV are nil; es-
pecially on your network. I fail to understand why you would pony up money
for intellectually-insulting drivel like "Campus Cops" and "Weekend
News," but you won't provide funding for a thought-provoking show like "FK."
You risk insulting your viewers with shows like "Campus Cops."
Not all men aged 18-45 like toilet-bowl humor, bawdy practical jokes, and
scantily-clad women bouncing around. Some of us are intelligent profes-
sionals who enjoy seeing a show that _makes us think_.
I urge you to reconsider your decision regarding "Forever Knight."
There is a large Internet community of fans who would dearly love to see
the show continue. Many of us are, as I have said, professionals. We would
love to see merchandising. We have disposable income -- to buy the things
that you are beginning to advertise -- such as services from AOL and Prodi-
gy. We buy computers, modems, hard drives, and all other sorts of gadgets.
What are the watchers of "Campus Cops" going to pay to consume? The
only thing I can think of is that they'll be scribbling down 1-900 phone
sex numbers.
Once again, I ask you not to do this. Please think before you act.

        Respectfully,
        Patrick K. Aiex

Get this folks in the column Special Report: The Fall TV Forecast: Far Fewer
'Friends' they report that because of the supernatural success of Fox's
X-Files the networks are believing in the paranormal. "There are at least
25 sci-fi or just plain weird drama series brewing."

And just what is one of these series. WB (Warner Brothers)is putting
together a series on the horror-spoofing film

Ta-Dah <oh great>

Buffy the Vampyre Slayer

Glad I don't get that station. The movie was ok but I can't see a weekly
series.
I'd rather have Nick and Lacroix and the rest of the gang.

Wicked! This actually means that my cute name for the Knighties actually
caught on... I'm absolutely tickled pink! :-)

Tee hee, and my friend Anna was gloating about how "Swabbies" (her epithet for
Cousins) caught on, and was swearing up and down that Brickettes, my
"epithet-in-reply", (actually, being Canadian, I used the "French-like"
version of same, "Briquettes"), would never catch on.

Wow! There's even a fan club with the name "Brickettes" in it.

Now I feel like a proud papa... :-) :-)

Okay, would someone please slap me and get me out of this slap-happy mood
now... :-)

We shouldn't let Susan cut her hair.

She says she hasn't cut her hair since she was 13. I'm betting she started
writing about the same time.

What if she's like Sampson, and her writing talent resides in her hair?

No more fanfic!

Is a fourth season really worth the risk of losing Susan's fanfic?

On the other hand, it's possible that the removal of all that weight from
her head will make Susan able to write more as her brain sighs in sheer
relief. O:'^)
