Not just good, but critical!! If the syndicators arrive at NATPE *asking* for Forever Knight... who knows what could happen!! Call your local syndicated stations that carry FK, ask for the programming executive, and express your support. Then be sure to write a nice followup letter to that person... and have the immediate universe write him or her too. If you live in an area that only had FK via USA, call your local syndie programming executives and tell your tale of woe. Ask them to *begin* to carry FK. Ask them to go to NATPE and *ask* for FK. And then, same deal, *nice* followup letters. Cheers, Laura ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 8 Jan 1996 14:37:15 -0500 From: Apache <lf@c.......> Subject: Re: NB Alert!! Isn't FK being shown there or is that merely a wish on my part? I quote from the online Britannica (http://www.eb.com:180/): "In Graves' disease the excessive secretion of thyroid hormone is usually accompanied by diffuse primary overgrowth of the thyroid gland (which results in goitre) and by exophthalmos (protrusion of the eyeballs), with eyelid retraction and other eye signs." According to her, Marty Feldman had Graves' disease. Does anyone know if the connection to Mr. Bass is merely my friend's overactive imagination or not? michael wayne jackson -- mjay@n....... ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 8 Jan 1996 12:18:35 -0800 From: LC Fenster <lucienlc@i.......> Subject: NATPE ad - reimbursement Hi, Deb. Once we've sent in the ad, and been told it's okay, and once I've actually PAID for it, THEN I will post an address to the list where all those who have so very generously offered to help reimburse the cost can send their contributions. Just feel uncomfortable collecting money before I've actually expended it. (To say nothing of superstitious! :-)) But thanks for caring! You're all great! Garrett" <susang@v.......> Subject: Old Stations Brief explanation-- Many stations are part of the TRIBUNE syndicate, which signed up for third season . . . then withdrew from FK when USA picked up the series because it's their policy not to show a series on Tribune that's also available on cable. WPIX is one of those stations. When I realized that I haven't watched WPIX for a year (since they took off FK), I dropped them a line telling them so and telling them WHY. I also told them that USA has pulled out and Tribune might be interested in picking up FK to interest the lost lambs like me. Do YOU have a station that used to show FK? Write to them, tell them. Also, does someone have the names of TriStars syndicated sales people? And should we call our stations and ask them to call TriStar? Also, regarding resolutions--since many people have asked, when we get a fourth season and I cut my hair, I'll get the event videotaped. I haven't cut my hair (other than the occasional trim) for 21 years, since I was thirteen. Which means, oddly enough, that I have some hairs older than a few people on this list. If Marg is > hearing-impaired, she needs a TDD line! The voice line is fine because I can use the Arizona Relay to call. For those who don't know about the relay service, it makes it like a 3-way conversation sortof. I type on my TDD to a relay operator (now called a communication assistant - CA) and s/he calls to the place that I want to call. The person I want to speak to picks up the phone and talks to the CA. The CA then types what that person is saying to me. See? No problem However, it would be nice if more companies installed a TDD phone line so that we don't have to go through the relay. I believe all states in the US now have some type of relay service because of the passing of the ADA. > Then I thought... shouldn't we all be calling these toll free numbers, in > *addition* to writing? I think we should maybe start calling them with *brief* messages so not to tie up their phone lines. The comsumer relations person can ask more questions if needed. If you know someone who is deaf or hearing-impaired (and even if you don't) please go ahead and thank them for sponsoring the closed captioning. Because Season 1 and 2 were not shown with captioning and Season 3 is fully captioned, they need to realize that they are reaching to a new audience - the deaf and hearing -impaired viewers. Thanks for the concern about the phone line. No, not literally.... <g> NATPE is the next important step. I've been encouraging the people off-list who contacted me to write their local stations that have syndicated programming to flood every one of them with letters urging them to consider Forever Knight, especially if they don't already show it. Now, for superstations. As you're all tired of hearing, I think we should tell them to pick up Forever Knight at NATPE. Thanks to Karen Tobin <thank you thank you thank you> the addresses for WGN (I'm not sure where that's available, but a lot of people on the HL list get their shows that way), WWOR and WPIX, which are both superstations out of NYC. At least in my area, and to my knowledge, the last two don't show Forever Knight. I suggest we hit them with a lot of letters (please guys, I don't wanna be the *only* one dropping letters on 'em) saying that they should consider FK. WWOR shows Highlander currently (Sat night/Sun morning 12) and WPIX shows Hercules and Xena (Sat prime time. Imagine a superstation showing FK in *prime time* I wish I wish Oh I do believe in miracles... <g>) I don't know if WGN shows FK, but I know it shows Highlander. I'm gonna mention to WWOR and WPIX (as I don't get WGN in this neck of the woods, and I'm sure they'd know that from my address) that I enjoy their syndicated programing (and I do, somewhat) and suggest in the most glowing terms that they pick up FK. I hope a bunch of you (those with access to superstations) do the same. Could anyone who does this also drop me a line e-mailingly so that I know what kind of impact we are getting here? Thanks <off soapbox, or whatever>. -Kristina kmb19@c....... Oh good grief. Hmmm. Ben Bass says, in an interview with Laura Waskey and Leslie Remencus which is printed in the newsletter of the Ben Bass Fan Club (rah rah!), that one possible reading of his character is that a person who has lived as long as Vachon has might not have much left to say. Given that take on the character, the blinking is <genius! no..> acting! He also says that his father is a doctor (an epidemiologist, to be exact -- interesting speciality for a vampire's parent!), so if there is any basis for this speculation, we can at least feel assured that it would have been noticed and treated. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 8 Jan 1996 13:48:08 -0700 From: Marg Rothschild <marg.r@a.......> Subject: Webgoddess or WIC I am sorry but I can't find my list of WIC and I need some help. That's the focal point, imo, of this campaign: if we can get the local syndies to ASK about FK (because of letters we've sent to them, comments they've received from sponsors (because of letters we've sent to THEM <g>), we may have a shot at this thing. (This metaphor for reruns is most often offered, with amusement, by colleagues in the psychological field.) I am writing, therefore, to most specifically request that you produce Forever Knight for a fourth season, and sell it at the NATPE convention later this month to the syndicated stations that I know are eager to keep it in their lineups.
