Hi Gang,
Well, being more than a little nervous about the repercussions of broken
promises.... I've just jotted 18 letters in support of the five programs
I couldn't bear to see taken of the air.
For those who've vowed to quit smoking, my sincere sympathy. Today,
January 4th, is actually the highlight of my holiday season, it's the
anniversary of my first year smoke-free :). It can be done! Remember,
whether you have a cigarette or not, the craving _will_ pass. Take it
one craving at a time.... You'll make it.

It would be wonderful (is it possible) to have the fax numbers for these
people, too. (A phone call the length of a fax doesn't cost all that much,
even to Japan -- especially at weird o'clock at night. Especially given the
time difference.)

Okay, so I've got their address, and a basic idea for the letter. Now the
real tough question, should I get out my old trusty university German
textbook and struggle through translating the letter, or are TPTB at
Telemunchen gonna be upset if I manage to get things wrong. What's better?
Good English? Semi-good German? Or a combination of the two?

Yep.. he's really a German, if you hadn't figured that out :) Anyway, so did
TeleMunchen not know then? Maybe it wasn't TM at all that kept it going?

Now I'm worried about the whole renewal being an unfounded rumor. Why would
Tele Muenchen lie? And if they aren't lying, are they misinformed, or are
they telling the truth and someone associated with the show is deliberately
lying to us as to why the decision on FK was reversed? Perhaps it was NOT
reversed, and this is merely a way to shut us up with false hope? Now I'm
REALLY confused, really paranoid and really wondering what the source was for
the "Good news".

Hey, Hey Everyone :)

for all you wonderful contributors who have sent in so far:

I have to say, if this does end up being the final season of
Forever Knight, and no I'm not willing to admit that it will be,
<an optimistic Cousin, there's a switch VBG> this charity drive
will be a wonderful way to show the cast and crew how much we loved
their work. I can't tell you guys how wonderful it is to see
everyone embracing this effort.
Oh that note, I'm thinking of making up a commemorative parchment
with the name of all the contributors that I will finalise after
the drive is over, in February, and send to JP and everyone else at
the show. That way, no matter what they happen to be doing in the
future, they'll have a gift from the fans of FK to put a smile on
their faces when they think back on their time with the show.
Just a thought. What do you guys think?

I got a mis-addressed magazine in my pob directed to small business
runners.
An ad in the back has a whole bunch of specialty software for sale.
One software package (for Windows) is called PUBLICITY BUILDER and says
"create public relations like a pro . . . without the cost of an
agency!
They have Mac and Windows and Dos versions.
It comes with a 126 page manual on 3 1/2" disks.
It's usually $129 but on sale for $99 at

I know absolutely nothing at all about this item other than what I've
said here but I thought it might be something that the list should be
made aware of in case there's anyone who wants it or can use it.
I just saw the Alien Nation movie with Matt writing his Dectective II
report/test using school software that writes reports for you. Of
course that's a laugh, but there's an irony in it that didn't escape
me.
This software ad may be trying to appeal to that element in human
nature that Matt exemplifies - a tool that will "do the job for you"
but in fact deliver nothing more than a word processor delivers to a
fiction writer.

Hi, guys. I'm sick.
Scratch that. I'm real sick. My options at this point are basically (a)
inactivity, or (b) pneumonia. (Touch wood I don't wind up with both.) :-(
Needless to say, the good news about Round One (well, of *this*
battle...we have had four before...) couldn't have come at a better time,
as I am definitely on the bench for a while. So consider my retroactive
vow for getting the rest of this season to sit still for as long as it
takes to breathe without conscious effort again. %-} (What can I say?
I *am* a summa cum laude grad of the Natalie Lambert School of Impeccable
Timing, y'know!)
I'm open to suggestions for Round Two. It's tricky, because if I think I
should do something I tend to do it anyway; that's why I've never made
New Year's resolutions. I'm very stubborn. :-) As for embarrassing
stunts...well, everyone who gets hired at BalletMet finds out within the
week about the day I did the Human Race charity fun run in rollerskates
and a pink tutu; and I'm also known for wearing about anything that won't
get me arrested.
I'd like to do that bike trip, but I don't think I could get the time
off. (I'd even do *that* in a pink tutu...)
I want to make a resolution, but my brain cells are all deflated. Can I
borrow some of you folks' creativity? I'll give it back, I promise...

Wow, I just decided to surf my way over to the German Forever Knight page
on the web -- despite the fact that I don't speak any German. You can

This is a very cool site! And, interestingly enough (especially given
this TeleMunchen stuff), there is a link to Jamie's "Save FK" page in
there. (OK, I could decipher that much of the page.)
It is a very nicely built site! I think it's a fan page, because it even
has fan-produced art. My favorite: "Nick mit Lederjacke"!
I think most of the biographical & other info is a translation of the
information available on the Sony web site or Jasmine's page. The film
credits here are quite exhaustive. They've also added some screen
captures, so that the bios of the stars have pictures to go along with
them. Nice touch!
They even have a .wav file collection so you can here the show's prologue
in German. Plus lots more.... Including Nick's famous line from Dark
Knight (when he realizes Schanke has been assigned to be his partner)
"Will somebody shoot me... please?" in both English and German!
Oh, on another note, did someone ask me for the website for the "Sammy
Souvlaki Page"? I seem to remember someone mentioning it at Ron's
party.... If anyone wants it, you can set your browser to

It has been emphatically and definitively stated that FK vamp sex involves
penetration above and below the waist, and that the advertisement

I was going to write a vignette about this, but that would break my "sit
still and get healthy" resolution; I'm pushing it to be checking mail and
I promise to go to bed very soon.
During the NatPack Yule gathering last weekend, it occurred to me that if
this group had any more connections and clout, we could probably engineer
a leveraged buyout of Tri-Star inside of a month.
Anybody else want to write the vignette? Could be very satisfying... We
all found the idea entertaining, and I thought we'd share it. Wish I'd
done it then, when we all *really* needed to chuckles.
BUT, on a slightly more reality-based level (who, me, connected to
reality? I MUST be sick.), Jack and I were talking tonight about the
various ideas that had been bandied about for raising money amongst
ourselves to pay for production.
We thought of another one to toss into that brew: if TriStar owns the
various rights and copyrights to the show, and TriStar isn't interested
in keeping it alive, what would be the feasibility of gathering the
necessary amount for JP to buy out those rights? If this were to be
considered seriously, of course, we'd have to find out if he *wanted*
that or whether it would work--or maybe another big-daddy company that
could be convinced of the value of the property?
Just a thought, back in brainstorming mode.

This is, of course, only my humble opinion, but you can't save a
world that doesn't want to be saved. While it's a nice thought to
think that we can revamp the ratings system and turn the television
industry inside out, we need to let them know that there is a
problem with their system of ratings. The only way to do that is
to get their attention through the types of action we're taking
now. The Mass Public is becoming more vocal about its wants and we
are having an impact, whether it is a large enough one is yet to be
seen. The important thing is for us to keep trying.
I, for one, do not feel that I am wasting my time and I take
exception to anyone that says I am. If our donation to the
Pediatric aIDS Foundation helps even one child or makes the
remaining days of their short, tragic lives a little easier,
everything (the letters, the lottery tickets, blood drives, and all
our other efforts) will have been more than worth it.

Really? Honestly? You wouldn't all be messing with my head, right?
If it's true... that's wonderful news!!!! But I can't... I'm sorry, I have
this problem with getting my hopes up... Could someone official, or even
semi-official, *please* confirm this!? (Hello, Fred, Nigel, are you
listening???)
I'm staring at my Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. The last Peanut Butter cups I
will be eating until Easter. The Last Chocolate I Will Be Eating Until
Easter. Valentine's Day is five weeks away and I made a public vow not to
eat chocolate, any chocolate, and to give away what I had to my
co-workers........I NEED CONFIRMATION HERE, PEOPLE.
Maybe that Tinkerbell thing, and all the vows we made, and all our hoping
*did* make a difference, in some small way, even if the reason FK is
getting picked up because the Germans have good taste in TV. I used to be
able to prove the most outrageous things, like a butterfly doing a 180 in
Egypt can affect the weather in Bombay; maybe this is like that. :)
I'm an engineer, not a statistician, but what what's-her-name from Toad
Hall said made sense. Looks like a money-making op to me.
Anyone else who is giving stuff up: Jamie, Jill, Cousin Lu/Diane, give a
yell if you need moral support. I know I will be whimpering about this
chocolate thing for a very, very long time.
But a Merc's word is her bond, and I'm not ticking off the Karma Goddesses
when they've just given me what I asked for. It'll be good practice for the
fourth season promise of giving up chocolate until Halloween. (I can't
believe I promised this...)

Subject: FK's future
I have read here that the "magic number" of episodes a series has to
produce in order to be packaged for syndication as a rerun series is 70. FK
will reach that number exactly if all the episodes originally contracted for
this season get made.
The original Star Trek acquired its enormous influence in large part as
a result of syndicated reruns after the series went off the air. Forever
Knight seems to acquire more fans the longer it is shown, so the same could
happen for us.
It will be a real shame if the show doesn't have a fourth season with
the same creative team and most of the current cast. But GWD isn't going to
stick around indefinitely even if there is a fourth season--he'll get too old
for the part and the exposure is probably bringing him more lucrative
opportunities (why else would he be moving to Southern California?) Before
FK, he was well regarded on the Canadian stage, but he was a pretty obscure
TV actor.
It may not have seemed so at the time, but one of the good things about
the reworking of the show this season was the opening up of the theme to
include interactions between other major characters that don't involve Nick
directly. I complained as much as anyone about the loss of Janette (and to a
lesser extent, Schanke). But the net result of the introduction of the new
characters, especially vampire characters, is that the show now has the
potential to be essentially immortal. ( "How appropriate."--Lucien LaCroix )
Like the Dr. Who series, they can bring in one or two new principal actors
and keep right on going. The moral dilemmas of vampire existence can be
explored by other characters, in other relationships. And this means that if
they keep picking up fans with reruns, and James Parriott stays interested,
Forever Knight can be brought back from hiatus any time the money is
available.

Hey all,
after slogging thru 3 days worth of mail I have some comments.
If We Pull This Off:
I promise I will faithfully continue work on my mammoth novel and continue
to publish TV Times for another year without berating myself with doubts
about my publishing abilites.
As for putting an ad for FK in a newspaper, if you got the money put one in
Variety -TPTB will see that!!!
Thanks for posting the new eps list. #317 was not listed. Yes there is a #17
according to one of my sources. AND FK is due back to production on Monday
Jan. 8th. I have no other info about it -yet.
I am contacting a columnist for my local paper, the "Register-Guard" here in
Eugene about doing a story on the campaign to save FK including the charity
drive. Stay tuned.

a) a hideous show that's on their syndie station that carries FK or
b) don't watch *anything* on USA
However, I am willing to go along with the general consensus, and stick to
the original vow (don't want to incur the Wrath of Schanke's Ghost!).
And yes, I bought a LARGE can of Spam (although my kids won't eat it, so it
looks like I have to eat the whole thing), and I am now a Happy Perkulator.
And by the way, my sister (also a huge FK fan, primarily a Knightie and
Cousin) actually LIKES Tracy. Really. I'm not kidding. In fact, she wanted
me to tell the list to quit with all the Tracy-bashing! (I told her we're
all Perkulators now!) Now everyone is sitting down, right? She likes Spam,
too!
YKYBWTMFK when... you hear a Nickolodeon commercial advertising their area on
AOL... Keyword: Nick and you wonder what you'll REALLY find there (and
can't wait to find out!).
